I used a tangent, where we had a piece of paper with an angle thing on it, like a p... oh I can't think of it, that thing that has all those angles on it, and a straw across the top of the paper, where you look through the straw up at the top of the pole or whatever. There's a triangle at the end of a string attached to the straw, and the angle that the triangle goes to give you an angle where you use this formula with the person's height and stuff.
