i bought a car online and sent the £2000 to a company called safepay who were acting agents, the seller hasnt contacted me since sat regarding the shipping of the car coming from portugal, the agents are holders of the cash wich isnt meant to be handed over to the seller till i recieve the car and ive emailed the seller and the company can you help me with what i should do next, (link)

heres how this scam works. they offer you a car. say they want to use an agent then you send the money and they disappear. i havent researched this company safepay at all so i could be wrong. but most likely there is no such company. i would definately find an attorney who is willing to help and notify the authorities but i think your out the 2000 pounds for the car. theyre probably long gone by now

Here is the thing i have this really nice lowered blue s-10 ( i have posted other things on here b4) but anyways my mom says that i can't drive it in the snow cause it isn't save and that my brother has a friend that will trade me cars and his is a volkswagon golf hatchback, which isn't that good of a looking car but it is safer. I really like my truck tho and i was planning on painting it and suping it up more and now i don't know if i should trade cars and be safer or keep my truck. help i am not sure what i should do? thanks for anyhelp (link)

keep the truck. your mom is basing this argument off air bags and crumple zones. your in a truck. its a lot sturdier than a golf. i would feel safer in a truck than in a VW any day of the week

another thing to look at is the battery terminals. what will happen if they are loose or corroded is your alternator will pick up a low voltage so it will kick on to charge the battery and the rpms will kick down then when it tries to charge and realizes that its fully charged the rpms kick back up cuz the belt is no longer powering the alternator

I have a Toyota Minolta(sponsored) race car that I am using in endurance races. Since it is more than 1000 horsepower, the gas mileage isn't that great. It is a middle-engine, rear wheel drive monster of a car. Heres the problem: My rear tires are wearing out much faster than my front tires, i know with it being rear wheel drive that it is prone to doing this, but is there a way to prevent it? Should i increase the downforce on the rear wing or would that just cause more problems? Advice please. (link)

if you own the toyota minolta race car i would hope that you have more mechanical knowledge than this.

i just bought a jeep. an '87 renagade to be exact. ive still ogt a year before i can drive it so my dad said we can take this year to work on it. we just bout a jbl marine radio for it and right now we are looken for some speekers. we want the sound bar that goes right behind your head. its navy blue with a tan top any ideas on interior color, sound bars, or tires
i will rate 5's for a good answer nothing like its up to you. (link)

personally i would lift it 4 or 5 inches extend brake lines and steering and through some 37 inch tires on it. but thats just me

how do you determine if a car is a sports car or not?? im lookin for cars but my parents said i couldn't get a sports car for insurance reasons or whatever but every car i like they say its a sports car! is it by how much horsepower it has? and if so how much does a sports car have? (link)

get your hands on an old datsun two door and you'll be set. plenty of mods and come nearly track ready when theyre stock

How often are car tires suppose to be balanced/rotated? (link)

most manufacturers recommend every 10,000 miles. but every third oil change is close enough. On my datsun i have kumho racing tires so i rotate every 4 or 5 thousand but on my truck i rotate every 15 to 17 thousand

Is in normal for a car to leak water after the air conditioner has been used? (link)

your air conditioning system has a few major parts (evaporator condensor etc...) what happens is you evaporate water and refrigerant and that generates heat. when you turn the car off that heat disappates and you get water on the outside of the evaporator. its not a leak its just moisture from the air.

Hey well im 14 im going to get a car when im 15 and my aunt is gonig to sell her 2.5 TL Acura to me..but tha only problem is its a '98! is this good? its leather and everything and it only has 75,000 miles on it.. (link)

so i have to agree with the last answer on it might be a bad idea because of insurance, however if that doesnt bother you then go for it. the TL is a great fast car by acura. there are a lot of mods available and its a fairly safe car. so other than bad insurance rates now and worse when you crash go for it

i have a brand new honda crv & i forgot to take the emergency brake off while i was driving (for about 8-10 min). how will this affect my car? will it damage it? (link)

Unlike everyone else i would like to state that driving with the E brake on is very bad. While on the engine its just like driving up a steep hill yesbut on the brakes its hell. you may think it just wears down the pads but it actually creates so much friction and heat that it will actually crack shoes in half.(mom borrowed my suburban and the shoes cracked) and it can easily warp calipers causes your entire set up to be replaced. you have to be very careful about not driving with the brake on

Can you drive a 3.5 ton truck on a normal driving licence (link)

to answer another wrong comment. A LOT of larger SUV's and trucks weigh more than 1 ton. I know my suburban does and my F-350. I do not have a commercial license. as far as the weight goes your okay, in california that is

How many miles does a car need to have on it before it starts to need a lot of expensive repair work, such as a new transmission? (link)

it really does depend on the car. I've seen a lincoln town car with 450,000 miles on it. The guy who owns it says that all he does is oil every three thousand miles and changes all the other fluids at factory recommended intervals. Careful with ford trucks. especially new ones. Ive seen several transmission go out at about 120,000 miles

my galaxy zetec has been letting in water in the front passenger footwell. this happens whenever it is raining and can be inches deep. Does any one have any ideas on the cause as it has been in and out of the garage and they cant find the cause. it has been suggested that it could be the pollen filter but where is it located as there is no reference to this in the manual. any help on the subject would be greatly appreciated. (link)

could be the heater core. or you could be leaking rain water from your cabin air filters

ok, i'm turning 16 soon, and my parents said that i could get whatever car i wanted as long as it was under $40,000 and met the following criteria: it had to be Japanese/European(they don't like American cars), it had to be reliable, and it had to be safe. i was wondering if i could get some suggestions on what to ask for (link)

get a nissan 300z with the twin turbo. youll fly down the road in style. plus its not an unsafe car by any means.

I'm 16, female, I have my learners permit. I'm getting my license in May. I have about 1500 dollars saved in the bank. Can that get me a decent car? If not how much should I spend on a used car? I would like a car by May, and I only get paid about 200 dollars a month at the MOST. please give me some advice. (link)

I would definately go japanese. either an isuzu or a nissan/datsun. they run forever and need very few repairs. I bought a 1989 Isuzu amigo from a boy scout troop for 350$ and it has lasted me for quite some time. The only repairs it needed, in the time i had it was, spark plugs and wires, distributor cap and rotor(60$) in order to pass smog in california, and i needed to replace the fuel pump (90$). these cars will just run forever a lot like the energizer bunny, they keep going and going and going

Hey all
I have a problem with my car recently. I have trouble starting my car the past few days, but my alternator was just changed 2 years ago. My battery is less than 4 years old, and my dashboard warning light is not on. Today after work, suddenly the Engine RPM went extremely low and the engine sounded like it was struggling to keep going. It was the first time this kinda of situation happened before.
Anyone can help here?
Thanks (link)

If by any chance you are mechanically inclined. i would take out the starter and take it to any auto parts store ie. kragen, auto zone, pep boys, advance auto. they can test it typically for free. This definately sounds like a case of the starter going out. the engine rpms could have been numerous things. check battery connections. if they are loose at all the alternator will kick on and off cause the rpms to rise and fall. like someone else said check pcv vavles fuel filter fuel pump, another thing to keep in mind is that if the car is old it probably needs its fuel system cleaned. take it to a jiffy lube or any other type of oil changers and they can typically do it for pretty cheap. also check spark plugs and wires. it may just be time for a tune up. typically on older cars you could do this yourself with just a screwdriver and a socket wrench. i would check and possibly replace in this order
1.starter
2. fuel filter
3. fuel pump
4. pcv valve (in order to test remove the valve and put your thumb over the vacuum line. if the car starts right up that may be your problem
5. spark plugs, spark plug wires
6. distributor cap and rotor

I'm 16/f, I'll be getting my license in 3 months, I really need my own car, I have 1500 dollars saved in the bank from me working my butt off for a year. I work at coldstone creamery making 6bucks/hour, my parents won't help me buy a car because of their financial problems. My dad said theres no way in hell I can get a reliable, safe, dependable car for 1500, he said I need at least like, 4500, and im like, really discouraged. I just want to know from anyone who was in my situation, how much money should I save up to get a decent car, cause my dad wont let me get a crappy one. Or can I get a nice one for the amount I have? hmm... (link)

I think somebody mentioned this car already... but i would go with an early model datsun. the 510's are hard to find with a clean body but they run forever. your probably better off running a 280zx. Solid car. inexpensive and repairs are cheap. plus its a good learning platform because of its simple inline six. this is no grandma car either. i would stay away from honda's they're cheap for a reason. you could probably never lift the hood on a honda and it would still run but a new honda runs the same as an old honda, crappy. Hope this helps
