Q: i need to download a font with really tight letter spacing (like where the letters are close together) for free but i cant find any. anybody know where some are at ?
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
well, you can use ordinary fonts and make the spacing tighter by going to the font part of word and condensing the characters (there's an option to how much you want it to be condensed).
however if you want a font, you can check dafont.com or just google 'download free fonts' and get a ton of sites.
honestly, i think you should just use a font and condense it because chances of you finding a font with tight letter spacing is slim.
(if you need more help with the condensing the character spacing, you can send me a question).

To win the chocolate hamper it gives a an address to enter your details on Thorntons.co.uk/play.com. However when i go to type in the address it comes up as an error and the page doesnt exist. ive been both on the thorntons and play website but cant find any mention of this competition. Any ideas?

Q: 14/f
Ok so I've been best friends with my best friend since 3rd so like 7 years. Her birthday is next month and I want do something really special for her. Like not the normal get giving thing. I want to make her something. I was thinking scrap book or something. I don't really have alot of pictures of the two of us though. Most are from when we were younger. I guess I could use those though. Is there anything else I could do for her? Just fun creative stuff would be appreciated! Thanks!

I've always wanted to do this for a friend, but never had the time.
Make a video w/ whatever editing software you have of both of you in different stages. Little video clips and music added. And then you can put a nice little poem at the end. You can make it like a dvd, so she can watch it. It doesn't have to be long. I think it's a really cute creative idea.

Q: This is really random, but I really need to know, so bear with me. Example: Brad Pitt starring as Benjamin Button (as Brad Pitt). Why do they feel the need to repeat that? Brad Pitt is playing Button, not the other way around, so what's the "as" for? That was just an example by the way. Anyway thanks, that's been driving me crazy.

I know on imdb they put the '(as....)' because the movie credited them under a different name.
Like if Angelina Jolie gets married to Brad Pitt, but the movie has her as Angelina Jolie but imdb changed it to Angelina Jolie-Pitt....so imdb would have it as :
Angelina Jolie-Pitt: [character name](as Angelina Jolie).
Hope i explained it well.

Q: i stink at cooking. how do i not stink???
|
|
|

lol. do the whole recipe thing and always use herbs and spices. It gives the nastiest food taste. i've cooked for my teenage friends and they love it. So just think of what you want to cook and look it up online. start with small things like pasta salad or fried rice...and start cooking for yourself first.
then you'll know your strong point and cook only those things for people. don't use complicated recipes like chicken alfredo and stuff...try baked chicken and potato balls or something first...you'll work your way up the cooking ladder!
good luck!

Q: I might be studying abroad in China in a few months for my college, and I'm really scared. It would be my first time on an airplane and going to a different country. I don't know what to expect and to be completely honest, I have a HUGE fear of the whole terrorist/hijacking thing. I know there's security but I have had this fear since 9/11 and it will not go away. Why can I do to relax and to put my mind at ease during this flight?
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
When i first started traveling with my family again ( i used to do it alone) my mom would always ask me how safe it was and stuff...and i'd laugh at her and tell her to chill. It's not that I don't believe in the risks, because they are present, but AFTER all the security you go through in the airport, the closest thing to a danger you might get is a common cold.
Carry a book which you know you'll engross yourself fully into. For a teenager (like myself) I'd carry a Harry Potter book or one of the Twilight Saga books. If you don't read carry an iPod full of songs and not music you listen to everyday, but music you like and only listened to once or twice.
They do show inflight movies, but sometimes its a movie you've seen or a movie you wouldn't like...so carry a laptop or one of those new portable dvd players w/ screen and a good movie.
Now you're probably from US or Uk..and I'm sure the flight will be LONG, so if you can try to stay awake the day before and get yourself tired. That way you can sleep and use up some of your time on the plane.
And last but not least, make some friends. If you're going by yourself, make some friends who are on the flight. Doesn't have to be your age...but if you're a female don't go looking to hang out with a guy who'e 45!
And have fun. Remember to request a window seat and look out of it and stare at the airport and streets from the air.
Good luck and happy traveling!

Q: Sorry so long but you have to know the story Please read and help! Ok I am 13 year old girl and I really need some help. I dont have long so here it goes. There is this boy in my class and i have known him for a while but never really like liked him, now I do. Now my BFF is in my class too and I found out about a month ago that he likes her! She also likes him! Now we (BFF, Me, Him and a few other friends) went to the mall one Saturday for Bff's B-day and I spent the night at her house that night, she later told us that he is annoying because he is always nervous and he is never close to her and she has to "drag" him around and hes not "romantic", she said she doesnt really like him any more but I am NOT sure about that. No one knows I like him. Now my BFF has almost been missing from school for about a week and me and him have been flirting A LOT. We have a great time together and laugh and smile so much. All this week I have been feeling more and more that he might like me and i think he does but i am not sure. I will be with him all day Today and Saturday (tomorrow). So what should I do I dont want to ruin my friendship but I dont want to go without him knowing. Hurry I really need some advice!

From experience: ALWAYS choose the friend. Once that friend has NEVER betrayed or hurt you, ALWAYS choose her.
The guy could break your heart and the guy and you COULD never be friends without the awkwardness if you guys ever break up.
Talk to her about it. Tell her that you kinda like him and you want to know where they stand. You want to know how she feels about him. If she says 'i don't like him, it's fine' in a shy way....she's LYING.
I'd normally say GO FOR IT, but do you want to lose her friendship?!

Q: My fiance and I are planning our wedding for 8/29/09. The only problem - a 'girl' friend of his who he has put on the guest list that I cannot stand. They have been friends for 20 years and everytime I come in contact with her she is extremely rude to me. When we first started dating I found her through another friend on myspace (website). I requested to be her friend because I knew she was a friend of my fiance's and I figured I would introduce myself. I am friends with several of his other friends on the website. She responded to my request with 'I'm sorry, but why are you requesting to be my friend? I don't know you, I've never met you. I know you're dating my friend but I've never met you.' From that point on she has been the one and only problem in our relationship. I have invited her to a few different events, trying to get to know her, and she refuses to come, making up excuses. She calls my fiance when I'm not around and they seem to have a secret friendship. He doesn't tell me when they talk because he thinks it will start a fight. All of his other friends have always been nice to me but for some reason she doesn't know how to be. I recently contacted her via email to see if we can meet up and clear the air, for the sake of my fiance. She refuses to email me back and told my fiance that she doesn't want to meet up with me because I didn't invite her to his surprise birthday party. I'm sorry, but why would I invite her if she is so mean to me? I completely trust him, but her I do not. She has jealousy written all over her face. I refuse to invite her to the wedding because the sight of her will ruin my day. Everytime I think about her and this situation my stomach becomes upset and it brings tears to my eyes. I don't want to feel that way on our wedding day. My fiance wants her to be invited to our wedding but I know it will cause a huge problem. We tried talking about this a few times and we cannot seem to resolve it. If the situation were reversed, I would take his feelings into consideration because I would not want to ruin our special day. I feel that he is marrying ME and he picked ME. Why does he continue to put her before me? I am supposed to be the most important person in his life.

Sometimes males have women who are their best friends and those friends are REALLY protective of the guys. I was once the 'best friend' and when i finally came out of that stage, I realised how mean I was. Maybe when she sees you guys get married and settled down she'll change. I've never felt it from the other perspective, but i can't imagine how it'd feel because i used to tread my best friend's crushes so horribly!!!
Just allow it to be, and if 4 months after the wedding comes along and she's still acting mean and cruel, approach her and ask her if she can't just be happy for you. She's probably seen his heart broken too many times to trust anyone with him.
Good luck and congrats!

I'm not 100% sure on this, but i think you need to upload them to iTunes first then transfer to your iPod. My iPod converts my cd music to their format and then i can put them on my iPod. It may not be the same problem, but try that first.

Q: I am 24 years old and a male and my Fiance is 24 yrs old and a female. December 6 at 10:45 pm my fiance and i were laying in bed about to go to sleep when her cousins came knocking on the door. Now to help you understand. Her family has been trying to get her to leave me for some time now and they pop up every now and then. Well i begged Erica (my Fiance) not to go out there and put me through this...knowing that it was only a matter of time before she would give into them. Well i was on my knees begging and she walked up to me gave me a hug and told me that she loved me and that they were just worried about her and to give her 5 or 10 min and she would be back inside. Well that wasnt the case. She ended up leaving me. And the next day when i tried to email her. She just read the email and then blocked and deleted me. She never even told me that it was over or goodbye...what should i do and expect...please help. I havent been able to sleep, eat or stop thinking about how this is all my fault.

well give her time, but you have to let her know that if her family continues persuading her into things you're not sticking around.
females tend to trust family members and are easily persuading into thinking whatever the person saying is right. Mind you, i am a female, so i know how these things work

Q: What is more effective, shaving, waxing or using that hair removal cream (such as Nair) on you legs? It'll be my first time so which one will stop hair growth on my legs for the longest? If it helps im a 13 year old female.

Best bets, as a first timer, is either to shave or use nair. I don't think you'll want pain from waxing.
Waxing keeps the hair away for a longer time, but that's because it pulls or rips the roots from the skin...so yeah painful!
To me, nair and other creams, burn my skin and then itch and it smells pretty badly too.
I would say shaving is the way to go. The hair comes back quickly but it's much easier and once you know HOW TO SHAVE you can do it without ever cutting yourself.

Q: Okay. I've been with my boyfriend for over two years. Well my last period was 11/9. Well its now 12/9. So its only two days late, but I'm still kinda worried. I mean, mine are late bc I'm not on BC or anything. But I just I'm kinda freaked out. He said we used something everytime. I'm trying not to worry bc I know that can make it late too. I looked up signs and symptoms and everyone I have, (sour breast, tiredness, and late period)it says that other reasons are stress and your about to start. I have only 3 out of 25 signs, so I'm thinking things are on my side. Which stress is true, because its basketball season and I always stress about it, haha. And I also could be starting. I think I'm having cramps but idk.

As everyone said, you shouldn't worry too much. Irregular periods are common to many people.
If you are pregnant, you won't find out w/ a test now, so wait a little and see.
If you don't get your period in the next 1-2 weeks take a test, otherwise just chill. I've had irregular periods before too.
Good luck

Q: Okay, I know this is a seemingly weird question to ask, but I will ask it anyway, and hope that it is only older individuals who can offer helpful answers who will respond. I dated a guy two years ago and have remained very close friends with him since, but we broke up because he could not be as affectionate as I wanted him to be, which drove me crazy. So now I'm thinking about the bigger picture, and how when I'm around him everything else seems to fit when we're friends, and I'm wondering this. Do I consider marrying him in the future because we get along so well but possibly sacrifice a booming sex life? I have to say, when it comes to girls, I'm about the only one who understands him, or who tolerates him, and I know he cares deeply for me, but I guess I just know I'd be happy spending the rest of my life around him every day, but don't know if that means with him as my husband. He's just a friend I never want to lose, so I can't tell if I want to keep him around intrinsically or just so I have my life planned. I love him a lot, but would that be settling? Help! I can send more info if you're interested too.

Maybe you guys will just be best friends and maybe it will turn into more. I mean, husbands SHOULD BE best friends too right? So it should be that easy.
These things take time though. Could you see yourself with him for the rest of your life? Could you picture having a family with him?...Carrying home on occasions to your parents? It's not just a 'should i or shouldn't i' situation since this deals with the rest of your life.
Use your head and heart. Maybe you think you LOVE him alot now, but when you meet someone else you fall head over heels in love with that guy. It's not something that happens overnight either. I don't think i can picture marrying one of my best friend (boy) right away. Time determines it.
But to me he just sounds like a BEST friend, nothing more right now.

I wouldn't trust what people say.
Well basically if he likes you, he would like try to flirt with you and like call you alot and talk alot to you.
If he doesn't like you he'll just be 'like a normal friend would be'.
Boys are very unpredictable, so they're no sure way to know. YOU can ask his best mate, but chances are he would tell you whatever ryan tells him to tell you.

I moved on from high school this summer...so i know how you guys feel.
How far are you from each other? We're 5-30 minutes away so it's not that bad, but because of different schools we don't see each other much. We send cards to each other with pictures and stuff for holidays (like christmas). We also email and instant message daily. When you move, send a short email to them all everyday letting them know how much you miss them and what you did today, etc. We're also on facebook and myspace, so we share pictures.
We sometimes use the microphone and webcam to have video conferences and stuff.
One of the best things to do, is to spend as much time as you can now. Chances are you'll make new friends, but the old ones are ALWAYS special. Go to the movies, stay home and have sleepovers AND constantly talk!
In reference to 'what to say to them'. Well you just have to assure them that you'll always be friends. Even if you guys aren't best friends for life, you'll be good friends no matter what. Write them meaningful letters and send them (even before you leave). Promise them you'll visit when you can, even if it won't be for a while.
And don't hold back the tears, it'll just make it worst when you move. Cry with them and let them cry with you.
Good luck!

Q: 18 years old female, will be turning 19 in a couple of months.
i'm pretty outgoing, i love meeting new people, i think i am pretty which makes me confident, but not cocky. alot of guys always like me but i never like them back. and if i do have feelings for them too, i push them away. maybe it is because i'm scared to be in a relationship but i am picky, so it's hard for me to find someone i like, and who likes me back. i'm still a virgin, and proud of that and i know it's not a factor in me being single my whole life. my brother is 21 and getting married in a year, and is always making fun of me how i'm going to be single my whole life and i'm never going to find anyone and my parents laugh about it? which makes me feel down on myself, and makes me give up hope. my WHOLE family always bugs me and when i see them they always ask, "have a boyfriend yet?" which gets annoying beyond belief. i am a freshman in college, but i commute and i'm not into the whole "partying" thing, and i don't trust college guys, i've heard some of my friends say that 4 guys have said "we're not looking for a relationship, it's college!!" which makes me not want to trust them. also i just come here for school and go home, since its 30 minutes away. i know people say, you're 18 you have your whole life but i don't want to be a 30 year old, having their first boyfriend you know. i've always dreamed of like having kids when i was around 23-25, and now i feel like i'll never find anyone and everything will be thrown off... i am scared to like get physical with a guy, even kiss a guy which could also be a factor in me not having a boyfriend. i think people think so highly of me(sorry not to sound conceded), and think i've done all this stuff with guys because they all think i'm so pretty and then they try to get with me and i'm like ahhhh!! don't know what to do. i'm just really depressed about this, i've always thought about it since i was a freshman in high school.

In life, you don't bother about mixing YOUR personal life with what people think!
I know alot of people who haven't gotten a boyfriend as yet and they're almost your age as well.
You won't turn into the 'cat lady'..trust me, you won't. You have alot of time to find someone you want to be with. If you think you turn down people too much, just lower your standards. We can't all find Mr. Right with our first try right?!
And don't be peer pressured into having meaningless relationships or sex. When the time is right we all find someone, even if they're not 'THE ONE'.
Good luck!

Q: A year ago I left a 6 yr job as a manager that I absolutely loved, but left because my boss was making my life miserable. He wasn't onsite all of the time, and apparently a disgruntled employee had complained about me, so he came to the location while I was gone on vacation began what he called an investigation. I was blind sided the minute I returned from vacation. He wrote me up for 6 different infractions, that had little to no truth, but I did not dispute these infractions because I was honestly afraid of him, and I knew because of similar situations with other managers, the company would back him anyway.
Once I left I wrote a letter stating the facts and explained the situation, but of course I did not get any response from them. I even tried to make the letter on a positive note as so not to burn my bridges so to speak.
I had never been disciplined in all my 25 years of working, and never did anything while at this job to deserve this. In fact, I pretty much had dedicated my life to this place and had a strong record of improvments in their business.
So instead of fighting for my rights, I put in my notice. Several of my employees (under me) also quit after I left and the majority thought this was very unfair.
I should note that they did not replace me---so in fact I feel he was forcing me out the door due to the profit margin of the business, especially since my disciplinary action was crazy...for all kinds of very minor things that were not as he stated. This company did the same thing to other managers about the same time.
I started my own business, which in this economy is not going well, and I am now searching for a new job. My skills were always very marketable before, and now I am lucky to even land an interview. I am wondering what this corporation may be saying about me?
Anyway, back to my real concern here. I really really miss the people I worked with, but still harbor so much resentment for what happened--and the reason I left. Maybe it is me blocking my own career process because I am so bitter about how my last job came to an end. I just can't seem to put it all behind me. Former--and some current employees still contact me just to see how I am doing, but it's been too painful for me to visit the old workplace or to get together with them. I have avoided dealing with it. I am still, after a year,am angry and hurt. Any ideas how to move on? I am not planning on investing money that I don't have in a counselor, so please don't suggest that.
|
|

|
|

Moving on, whether is from an old job or boyfriend, is never easy.
The best way is to try to move on, is by considering the bad things about that old job. For instance: Did you get too much work?
There's never a sure way to get over something or someone, it takes time.
And face the situation. Go into the workplace and greet your former co-workers. Pretend you're happy, even if you have to end up going home crying. Facing the 'problem' will help in alot of ways.
Good luck!
