Q: Hey there, I am glad to see the site is back up and running. If you remember I contacted you before (the first time you switched servers) and told you that when I click on other pages I could not view my past Q andA's. Well, now this is the case only for the last page (on my site page 5) It just comes up blank, but now all the others are working properly. Is this a settings thing or what? Thanks,oh by the way I ordered an Advicenators shirt today!! I'm going to wear it as soon as I get it. I have some ideas about why the last page isn't showing up, I just need to get to it. basically, if a question gets deleted by moderators after you answer it, we don't show it. I've thought about changing this but I'm iffy on the whole thing.

Yeah, sorry for all the downtime! We've been having major server-drama over the past few days but hopefully now things will be okay. We're on our own server now, and we'll be able to maintain it as long as people keep clicking ads on the side of the page there and telling their friends to come to our site. thanks for coming back and sticking with us!

Q: I think it would be wonderful if we could write articles on advicenators that aren't necessarily answers to questions. Like, for example if I wanted to write something about Fall Fashion, I could write a separate article in my column that people could read, comment on and ask questions about.
Sorry if this has been suggested before.

it has not been suggested by anyone else before, but I have thought about it. maybe have some way for people to write "advice for the world" just on whatever they wanted and then we'd feature stuff on the main page every once in a while? I'm not sure how it should all work, but I like the idea. Maybe others will read this question and second the motion or give more ideas on how it'd all come together.

We just didn't like where it was going. Other categories are for people to ask advice on what to do in life, writing was being used by 11 year olds to ask us if their painfully bad poetry was any good (and they got mad when we told them it wasn't).

Q: My most scincere congratualtions to the developers of the site. What a truly wonder idea. A friend and I thought about starting a free advice website. I am not at all upset though. This really is fantastic. I only have one suggestion that might be of interest. Why not title the site "Free Advice", Advicenators is bit goofy, no offense. Again, aaawesome!!!

Q: For the past week or so I haven't been getting e-mail notifications when my questions get answered, or when I have a new question in my inbox. I checked my profile settings and it's checked to have it e-mail me. I have heard one other girl complain of the same problem. Why is this?

Q: I'm Alevel one moderator, and last week, I was out of town for about three or four days, and when I came back, I was no longer a moderator. I'm just wondering if I need to notify you when I 'm leaving so guys don't think that I have escaped, so i can still be a moderator.

it's an automated thing. just update your column and if your rating is high enough you'll get your privileges back when the daily script runs again.

okay, well, if you're still being here every minute in another month, I'll consider you. in the meantime, just do your thing... rate questions, give advice, ask questions that columnists will find interesting (that's really what we're hurting for) and don't dwell too much on your status.

we have to have everything. sorry, but it's not worth the effort of me making someone a level II if we're not confident that they'll do a good job and stick around long enough to do it to fill the job for a while. like, we only consider you for level II after two months of membership, because everybody who's a level 1 rates tons of questions at first and then gets sick of it. someone who's in it for the long haul will keep at it long enough for us to trust them.

Q: over th last couple weeks my rating has dropped. i mean, the number of reatings i've gotten. A month ago i had been rated about 33 times and had like a 4.96 or something. now my advice column says i've been rated only 15 times, and i'm at 4.93... what's happening?

Q: hey, im sorry to bug u if this question has been asked before, but ive recently got a comment in my inbox asking me to please not say "rate me please" at the end of my advice. is that not allowed? the person who commented said that it makes it seem like competition. I dont ask to be rated for the competition, i ask it so i know if im giving good advice, cuase its feedback, letting me know if i need to improve, and if i helped the person. if u think saying "rate me" brings a competitive edge to advicenators, can u rephrase it and say "I would really appreciate it if u let me know how my advice was by rating me and leaving me some feedback" or is that bad too? sorry im juts confused about this whole rating thing. Cause i read all the rules of this site and everything and it doesnt say anywhere that asking to be rated gets annoying or will cause a potential ban..? sorry for asking this question again, i know it might be dumb. thanks in advance for ur reply.

it's not a rule that you can't say "rate me", but it's annoying, and we state in the FAQ that if someone gives you a 1 just for begging we'll let them. Ratings aren't supposed to be taken so seriously, and when you say "rate me" it sounds like you're giving advice just to up your rating, not because you like helping people.

yes, I'm looking at it right now. purple swirly background, default layout, no questions answered, it all looks fine to me. so does your other column. do other people's columns look white to you? what browser are you using? do you get any warning messages, or just a blank page?

This advice column is for suggestions, comments, or error reporting about advicenators. If you'd like to suggest a new category, ask me a question. If you'd like to whine, bitch, or complain about advicenators, you may whine, bitch, or complain to me.
Three rules though:
1) Do not ask me for life advice. We have several thousand other members that do that.
2) Do not ask for help, or ask how to do something, or ask about
how something on the site works, unless you've read every word of our help pages and you're sure it's not addressed there.
3) Do not ask me to ban someone or investigate abuse. We have an entire abuse system set up for that.
If you disobey one of these rules, I'll delete your question.
Some guidelines about suggestions:
If you offer a suggestion that I find interesting, I might just ignore your question so it stays in my inbox as a reminder of something to do. Don't be upset that I don't answer you, and don't delete your questions (because then I'll forget!)
If you have three suggestions, please ask three separate questions, that way I can address each one individually. It's a real pain when people ask one question with like twenty different topics in it; I can't keep them straight.
