Hey, I'm Mara. I love dancing. It's practically my favourite thing to do. I love House, R&B, pretty much everything with a good beat, and Benny Benassi is my hero; that's why my column is a shrine to him. I graduated this year and am now in my first year of college where I'm trying to pick a major. Chances are you'll see some of my Psychology questions floating around somewhere here. I'm also extremely interested in Political Science too because I, like half the people living in Canada, somehow want to change the world. I particularly want to find a cure for poverty, corruption, cancer, AIDS and George Bush because honestly, I think those are the biggest problems we have right now. I have decided that maybe I should take the time to live a little before I start though because I have a good fifty years ahead of me to fix all the issues there are. Currently my life consists of: studying, working, socializing, eating and ocassionaly sleeping. I spent practically all of my high school life being a delinquent and partying to huge extents until I discovered my brain sometime in the middle of my senior year. I still like to have a good time every once in a while but you always need to find that balance (I haven't exactly found it yet but I'm getting close). Unfortunatley, a habit that has stuck with me from school is my obsessive gossiping. I just can't stop and you know, an article in Cosmo says that gossipers are healthier people because they bond over it? Who would have thought? Anyway, I do have my limitations and I don't condone nasty, brutal gossiping and I don't gossip about anything my friends have told me in confidence or something about someone else that they have slipped to me, however, if I find you in a washroom at a random party making out with my bestfriends's boyfriend, a few people are probably going to hear about it. Actually, more than a few people will hear about it because one of my absolute pet peeves is parties where the all the bathrooms are occupied due to sexual activity or... puking activity. Sooooo what else is there to know about me? My favourite thing in the world is shopping and my worst fear is existantialism. I am OCDey in a clinical way so you can ask me questions about that. You can ask me practically anything you want except for dumb questions but I'm not going to answer them in my little column here because it's a huge waste of space when I could be writing about myself (Click 'LookIt' on my menubar for answers to dumb questions so you don't have to embarass yourself asking them and getting bitched out from me). What I can do, is offer you three pieces of truly inspirational advice. Firstly, never live your life by what others want of you, cherish yourself and everyone around you, and never beat yourself down about anything you couldn't have avoided. Secondly, donate at least ten percent of the income you earn in your life to someone who needs it. Lastly, never get into a bulldozer when you're under the influence and start driving it towards a poor freshmen (I am never going to another kegger ever again... ever). Ok, I'll shut up now. You can start asking me stuff, if you haven't hit the back button already.

do girls like classical or rock musicians?
and i'm confused,cause i hear girls say that they love musicians,but
1)is it based on skill.exp:the better the guitaring is.the more the girl likes the guy?
does skill affect?or do girls just don't care if he is a sucky guitarist or a pro,they will still like the guitarist as long as he plays guitar??
2)is it also based on looks,?or do girls love great drummers and vocals even through they don't look good? so which one would a girl choose? a kickass drummer with average looks or a sucky drummer with model looks?

1) It -is- based on skill. Mostly associated to power. When you're good at something, it usually means that you will have power somewhere up there, which means contacts, influence, protection et cetera. This is what women want. Now listen carefully, you can go around telling people that you are in a band, that's fine. Girls will dig it and possibly sleep with you in hopes of becoming a rock star's girlfriend but -do not- offer to show her your talent unless you have -mad skills- and I mean that it the most literal sense possible. You need to be really good if you want to impress her. If you don't have a chance, bite your tounge, chalk it up to needing inspiration, ask her to be your inspiration, and that's how a one night stand is born. I'm not telling you to go around looking for chicks. I'm just telling you how it works and I know you'll figure it out sooner or later and I just wanted to warn you and tell you that this method is bad in the long run. Once the girl actually hears your music, she'll tell all her little groupie friends and they won't want to hook up with you. So just get on it and learn how to play the guitar/violin.
2) Girls will like hot guys, by hot, I mean guys who are either good looking or carry themselves around like they are good looking even if they're not.
3) You seem very obsessed with asking questions about looks and images. Why are you so concerned with impressing girls? Just so you know, if you dress skater/emo and you aren't one, it'll show and it will be a major turn-off. Now I'm going to say the most used tacky-saying on this site: just be yourself.

Hey,
Well theres this girl who wears like a little tiny bit of like guys body spray as purfume. you know like axe and stuff. I think it smells good, but thats probably because it reminds me of a guy...and guys that smell good are hot. Anyway, my question is, would guys think that is hot or sexy or whatever or would they think its weird?(guys oppinions, or girls who have heard from guys)
God, I love guys cologne too. In fact, I'm so hard core that my platonic boyfriends make me sniff out potential scents they're about to buy to make sure I won't fall in love with them once they start wearing it (it's really bad with me).
I actually don't wear it, I give all my new boyfriends Drakkar Noir and that's what they wear throughout the day and at night, I spray it on my bed sheets instead of febreeze. I'm single right now, so I pretty much just have that going for me :( ... well that and the single life which is pretty nice.
I used to spray it on myself every now and then but a lot of friends, even guy friends, thought it was really weird and I noticed that I didn't get as much of a response as when I was wearing a floral perfume. I've had a man tell me that he felt like he was hugging a man just because I had cologne out.
It's surprising, but scent makes a lot more difference that you'd think.

Ok well there's this guy and i really like him.

How you can tell if he likes you:
Does he look at you all the time? Does he try to get your attention? Does he talk to his/your friends about you? Is he interested in your activities and your opinions on things? While people are having conversations, does he constantly look at you to judge your reaction? Does he keep finding excuses to touch you? Does he buy you things or give you his food (food is important to guys)? Does he unexpectedly show up when you're somewhere? Does he spend all his time telling jokes to make you laugh or try to score in sports to try to impress you?
If he does more that one of these, in all probability, he likes you.
How you can get closer:
Smile at him in the halls. Talk to him. Flirt with him. Pay attention to his interests. Make friends with his friends. Figure out where he hangs out and drop by every once in a while. Do be nice, caring, and giving. Don’t be stuck-up, bratty or skanky. Act like you’re an independent, confident lady. Don’t act like a obsessive, needy, toddler or a high-maintenance, mean drama-queen.

in literacy we went to the library to look up something, and we were with some other classes doing the same thing and got on computers. i was with my friend and this kid came over and was like saying all this stuff like "i get head" and like..something about girls getting low and then some other stuff from songs that i guess were kinda funny but i was still disgusted at the same time while my friend was lauging cause she had no idea what he said. and he kept doing it for like the whole period and i was like 'shut up!' and 'stop please' and stuff. i didnt know whether to laugh or be like.. pissed cuz he was making fun of me? so i was like both.. umm that was weird. ew either he was just being annoying or some wacko way of hitting on me. hes like one of those cocky (popular? i dunno.) people and him and his friend were laughing kinda and another friend was like "i dont get it". and he was like "and the sweat drop down my balls and all these females crawl" from the rap song "get low". do you think he was like making fun of me or something? or am i being too harsh? plus, i dont really know him.. well hes in my gym class and i've seen him there but thats it. and his friend that was laughing.. well hes in a couple of my classes. and my friend who was laughing kept talking about what he did, even when his friend was there! and im like "gosh! how embarassing" cause he'll probably tell him that we were still talking about it, lol.

Ugh, I know just what you're talking about. I have a lot of guy friends who did random stuff like that (still do).
It might be because he likes you or is making fun of you or is just being random (which is probably it). Guys are immature and stupid at 13. They'll do dumb stuff and you can't look too much into it because they're sending crazy signals everywhere to everyone and they themselves don't know what they're talking about half the time.
If he does it again, don't tell him to stop because he won't and it doesn't matter what you say anyway. Just laugh, and if you can't do that just shut up and ignore him, he'll go away soon if he doesn't get a response.

My friend Used to like my boyfriend before we were going out. She even asked him out once. But he said he liked her only as a friend. Honestly, I don't know if I'd go out with a guy who by best friend likes as well.
But if I did, I'd encourage her to go to the dance and be supportive. Think of it this way: she's borrowing him for the night and returning him to you. In the long run, he's yours. What's the harm in giving her one night if she likes him so much? Just do her a little favour.
Tell your boyfriend beforehand not to try anything funny and remind him that she's trying to break you two up. Then act very generous and tell them to have a nice time.
If your friend every gets too cocky, just be like "I'm glad he's going with someone I trust and not any other girl." and "Aww it's so cute, my best friend and my boyfriend going together".
Suppress your jealous feelings for one night. You can do it.

I would tell him the troublemaker told her. Just explain that you didn't want to tell him it was her and cause drama and you don't know why she said it was you.
If the troublemaker tries to fight you just calmly explain to her you don't want a fight and that she shouldn't have told Anne. Don't act afraid or talk too much about it. If you act cool, it'll blow over quickly.

Abs? Umm hell yes. Alot of girls love the totally ripped abs but my girlfriends and I agree that having slight abs is sexier and more universal because even if a chick likes skinny guys, muscle ripples can do -no- harm. I don't know very many ladies who don't like abs at all and prefer big chubby guys but there are rare ones, and they hate any guys that -aren't- big. Taking on a safe route, unless you're a Fat Joe-esque rapper, fat is a no-go.
My -personal- favourite is well defined masculine features like cheekbones, chin et cetera. I do, however go for the feminine type sometimes.
I do have to say though, and I'm sure a lot of girls will agree with me, is that there always is the odd guy that is totally different from my "type" and I will think he is the hottest guy alive. A lot of it depends on the way he carries himself and acts. Sometimes it's the total sweetheart that captures me and sometimes it's the bad boy. I noticed that what these guys have in common is a lot of confidence, not always cockyness though.

i have like really big calves (i think thats what they're called not your thighs but the other half of your leg). they're mostly muscle but i HATE them soo much. and i love capris but i cant wear them with my big calves! does anyone know anything to get them thinner? like anything i just hate them soo much. thank youu.
My calves are pretty muscular because I run and use the elliptical trainer and stairmaster.
Soccer players have really strong calves, so do football players because they run so much.
Basically any cardio activity that uses your lower leg muscles develops them rapidly.
Just make sure you do stretches because you don't want you bloodstream clotting up.

Dividing it by a hundred is 0.36.
Multiplying that by twenty is 7.20.
36 minus 7.20 is $28.80.
