sucking in helium

what are the risks of sucking in helium to make ur voice high pitched??

hahahahahha this is sooooo ironic cuz we were JUST talking about this in my chem. class!

Well....my teacher said that there are two "Grades" of helium produced. One is more or less harmless that does VERY little damage. The other can be fatal...something to do with affecting your brain/ causing permanent brain damage.

So...if i were you...id stay away from the helium...just in case. Every once in awhile youll see on the news someone dying of inhaltion of helium....

What it can do is goto ur brain and cause a bloodclot so maybe u can do it once or twice but dont do it like 374738 times it can kill you!

Inhaling it from a balloon hurts you but the damage is minimal.
There was a guy in the next high school who died because he inhaled it from a pump at a preschool birthday party to make the kids laugh. It was really sad, don't do it please :(.

haha well i actually asked my doc that haha yea and he said there is not problems with sucking in the helium but some bolones (spelling) have like a glue in them that if you inhale it it is bad so yea lol

it's like going up to the tailpipe of a car and breathing in. If you breath pure He for too long, you'll die because there is no oxygen. Just taking a breath will not immediately harm you, but it'll kill some brain cells. Also, NEVER breath anything directly from a cylinder, the pressure could explode your lungs.
