Hey everyone! My name is Kristen, I'm 20 and I'm a college junior studying pharmacy. I've been blessed with a really good life, and part of the reason for that is because I've learned to see GOOD in everything that happens to me.

I love giving advice, and I've been told that I do a good job at it, but I'll let you decide! Feel free to ask me anything... don't be shy, that's why I'm here. I've been through a lot... moving from one country to another, leaving and finding new friends, break ups, boys, middle school, high school, college, self esteem issues... pretty much most things that people need help with.

can anybody tell me the advantages AND benefits of the following cell phone companies:
-t mobile,
-cingular, and
-verizon
i want a new cell phone, and i heard like cingular is better for family plans, and things like that

i agree with what everyone else below me said, so i am not going to repeat it. i just want to add a few things:

- i have cingular and i like it a lot. reception is always great, and because SO many people i know have it, we can talk to each other at any time without wasting any minutes. best thing to do is see what phone service the people that you talk to the most have! if all your good friends have cingular, then it is a good idea to get that, so that when you talk to them you don't waste any minutes!

- also, t-mobile and cingular have now switched to the GSM system, and i am pretty sure that verizon hasn't! gsm is better because you get a sim card with every phone, and you can save all your numbers to the card, instead of the phone. that way, when you get a new phone, all you have to do is transfer the card into the new phone, and all your numbers will be there automatically, without having to retype them all! also, with gsm, you can buy an unlocked phone on sites like ebay, and all you would have to do is transfer your sim card to them and your phone would work. if verizon doesn't have gsm, then you can only buy your phone from them, and then you have to pay an activation fee to get the new phone working!

Are we in the twenty-first century? Is it from 2000 to 3000 or 2001 to 3000 or what? I don’t understand the century things.

hey! currently, it is the 21st century! a century equals 100 years. The years from 2000 to 2099 are all in the 21st century. 2100 to 2199 are 22nd century and so on. basically to find out what century a year is in, take the first 2 numbers in the year (so take 20 out of 2006) and add 1 to that number (20 + 1 is 21... so 21st century)!

this is because the years from 0 to 99 were considered the 1st century, so then 100 to 199 had to be 2nd, and so on. hope that helps! :)

ok .. well i have medium length hair .. and wen i scrunch it gets retarted and doesnt look right .. when my friends do it for me, its perfect! im soo mad .. i usally extra hold gel , ausse instat freeze and srunch spray and regual extra hold hair spray .. can you tell me how to get my hair PERFECTLY srunched and look good & make it last .. thanks

hii! yay i love this question! lol ok... i used to try and scrunch my hair and it looked soo crappy! but now i've found the way to make it perfect every time!! i have very long, thick hair... and my curls hold all day, so i KNOW this will work for you!

1) after you wash your hair, brush it to get rid of all knots and dry it a little bit with a towel... just squeeze out excess moisture!

2) flip your head (face the floor), brush your hair and spray aussie leave in conditioner/heat protectant... it's a 2 in one product that is cheap and i like a lot... but you can use any leave in conditioner!

3) while you're facing the floor (hair flipped over) scrunch your hair a little bit just to get it going. then, fill the palm of your hand with mousse (i use rave mousse), and apply it all over your hair, while continuously scrunching! then, squeeze some gel (i use LA looks for curls... it;s blue and like 2 bucks) in the palm of your hand, and work that all over your hair while scrunching! remember... you are facing the floor this whole time!

4) with the blow drier on LOW, start drying your hair with one hand while scrunching THE WHOLE TIME with the other hand! keep doing this for a few minutes, then flip your hair over and stand up straight and continue to dry and scrunch the front sections of your hair. as your hair dries, if you feel that its frizzy or doesn't have enough product, you can put more gel or moose or both in it and continue to dry! keep flipping your head over, and then back again and scrunching and drying until your hair is almost totally dry (and your fingers hurt from scrunching haha)!

5) finally when it's dry, spray some hair spray in it... and maybe pin the front section back with a little clip or something if you want!

it may take a few times to determine the right amount of gel and moose you need to use, but either way it will look good! hope i helped and this works for you!! :)

Tonight is familynight and I've known about it for about 3 days. I also got invited to go somewhere else with some of my friends. But the thing is that the place that I might go with my friends A LOT of people are going to. So it will give me a chance to mix and mingle with a lot of people and have fun. The place with my friends seem so much more fun that family night. But I don't know if I should just ditch my family for my friends? Can anyone help? What would you do? What is the right thing to do?

i think since you already made plans with your family you should just stick with that! your family might be hurt if you ditch them! think about it... if someone made plans with you and then ditched you, how would you feel? good luck! :)

How often should you change your pads?
I get my period heaviest the first two days.
Are tampons comfortable? I'm petite.. and I dance so I think using a pad would be uncomfortable while I'm dancing..
Should I use a tampon when I'm dancing? OR can I just use a pad?
Can you swim with a pad?

hey! ok changing your pad... well if your period is really really heavy, then you should do it every 2 hours or so... you will know when you go to the bathroom depending on how much is on it. But if it's not heavy, you can go a couple of hours and it will be no problem! Just look to see if the pad seems full and not dry... if it feels that way, then change it! Also if you try tampons, make sure to use pads overnight because it's better for you not to use a tampon ALL the time, and especially over night for 8 hours or more!

Tampons are very very comfortable... you will not be able to feel it! If you can feel it the first time you put it in... then you put it in wrong and it's not up far enough! take it out and try again with another one! I use playtex slimfits... they are small and easy to get in!! very comfortable and a great idea for dance class! it won't feel like you have your period! pads are very uncomfortable for that! try a tampon and see!

Lastly, no you cannot swim with a pad! it will probably show through your bathing suit... and it will absorb all the water in the pool and become soggy, heavy and basically gross! lol but you CAN swim with a tampon on... no problem! hope i helped!

Oh remember to change your tampon every 4 to 6 hours! and if your period is really heavy, then you may need to do it more often... or it will leak! it is a good idea to wear a very thin panty liner as well, just in case! also, make sure to use the smallest absorbency possible! my period only lasts about 3 days, and it's pretty light, so i use REGULAR tampons! try those... if they don't hold up, then switch to super! :) good luck!

so in june of this year i will have my phone for two years.. today i tried to pull my phone out of my pocket but then the antenna broke so basically i pulled the antenna out of my phone and this never happened before.. so i put the antenna back in and it worked still.. the problem is that its gonna brake soon cause there are cracks around it but if i were to get a new phone.. would it cost in the 100 region becauese a while ago i went to get one and it was really 30$ but they said it was 120$ ..i dont know why . please help

yea, like the person below me said, this is because you only need a phone, and you are not re-newing or getting a new contract! a lot of contracts expire after 2 years, so check out if yours does any time soon! if it does, then just wait and you will be able to get a phone for cheaper (or free!) when you renew the contract. If, however it doesn't need to be renewed any time soon, you can try getting a phone on ebay! you can get new and used phones on there, and they are usually cheaper than at the store! just make sure that you have a GSM phone (one with a sim card) and make sure that the phone you buy online is "unlocked" and as a result compatible with all service carriers (verizon, cingular...)! once you get it, all you will have to do is get the sim card out of your new phone and into the new one! if you don't have GSM, then you will have to buy the phone at the store! :( sorry!! let me know if you need more help! good luck! :)

Is it possible for me (14/f) to get a job as a secret shopper?

well i guess it depends, but the ones i've heard about require you to be at least 18! you could get the number of the company you are interested in doing business with and give them a call and ask, bu t i am pretty sure you have to be 18! don't get too disappointed about it... the whole thing sounds like a scam anyway! i don't know there just something about it... like it's too good to be true! but if you can get a hold of them, and they say it's ok... try and talk to someone who has done it before you sign up and pay them to "teach you" how to secret shop! :) good luck!

Here's the laydown. I am a eight grade girl; I like a guy in 8th gade. We have been close friends for two years now. We have kissed but only during spin the bottle. I cant figure out if he likes me. hey! well that's a good sign that he is waiting for you after class! in addition, do you ever catch him looking at you, and when you look at him he looks away? does he ever touch you while talking to you... by that i mean things like playfully pushing you or something like that? does he seem to be nervous when you are around? does he act different when it's just you and him, compared to when other people are there? if you answered yes to most of these, then chances are he does like you! as far as the mixed signals go... maybe he likes you but is afraid that you don't! or maybe he is shy and doesn't want to make the first move! so i suggest flirting with him to make sure he knows you like him... and if he doesn't make a move then, I suggest you go for it and ask him out! you have nothing to lose! :) good luck!

since my dad has left my sister uste to cut herself cause she hated life..and then she started getting angry all the time.. she uste to beat the living crap out of me when my mom ain't home seriously if i do one little thing to her she tried to hit me with a bat before.. she cusses up jack to me if i am having music up to "Loud" or if I am just standing near her (shes a freak to me anywyas) my mom trys to control her.. but she can't atleast she don't try enoguh..my mom is never home any more either she's always with her boyfriend or gone to college or something..I have to be careful and watch what is ay around my sister or she'll go crazy.. she always says that my mom hates us and my mom hopes that were dead and all that crap.. she's 17 btw..I think she's on depression pills maybe i don't know I think she goes to a consoulor ro whatever but what could i try to do to get her to be not so angry all the freaking time she won't listen to me cause she'll always saays that i'm dumb and oh yeah and ain't you like that too

omg! i'm sorry to hear about that, that's not good at all! you really need to talk to your mom and tell her what is happening... but urge her to be nice to your sister when she talks to her about the situation! otherwise your sister might get mad for telling on her and take it out on you! but deffinitely do nice things for your sister like the person below me said! if you are nice to her, she will start to feel bad eventually for being mean to you and she will stop! she might be going through a hard time so just ask to sit down and talk to her and help her if she needs help! tell her you want to be friends with her and that you 2 should be there for each other! maybe even ask her for advice about some problem you are having... with boys or something! that will make her feel important and hopefully will change her attitude towards you! i hope that helps!! :)

well this is not really going to answer your question because i am not sure there is a way for us to answer it... basically, the price will depend on where you go, how experienced the stylist is, and even how long/thick your hair is! so the best way to find out is to go to a salon you like, and ask them about the price! not only that, but they will be able to look at your hair color and tell you which color would work best!! good luck! :)

i've been doing curl ups everyday for a year and (i do the side ones, the ones that work out your upper and lower abs) and like im seeing NO improvement...is there a harder curl up to do? becuase im going all the way up slowly and all the way down slowly and i cant see anything!! im doing 200 on the left and 200 on the right...help!!

hey! well that sounds like you are doing a lot... i agree with what the person below me said, about doing some cardio as well! also, are you sure you are doing them right? do you feel the burning sensation as you are doing them, and does it get harder towards the end to keep going? if yes, then chances are you are doing them correctly... but if not, then you are doing something wrong! how about getting a simple ab machine that helps you maintain the correct position while you do each set, to make sure that you are working your abs? hope that helps!

does age really matter when it comes to dating someone?

does it matter in what sense? if you are talking about the law, then yes, it does matter. someone over 18 is considered to be an adult, and if he/she is having a sexual relationship with someone under 18, then that is illegal. if you are talking about whether it matters to society, then once again, yes it does. if you are with a much older guy/girl, then many people won't approve of that... but as long as you are happy, then it shouldn't matter what people think! lastly, if by "does age matter" you mean "is it hard to be in a relationship in which one partner is much older than the other"... well then, once again YES! if you are 14 and the guy/girl is 16... then it's ok because you two are still in the same age group, and have many things in common because you are going through the same things. however, it is hard to be in a relationship when one person is 14 and the other is 20 because those two people are at different stages of their lives, and there will be many arguments and each will see things differently.

a friend once gave me an "equation" which actually makes a lot of sense. if you are a guy trying to figure out what is the youngest girl you should be dating, then take your age, divide it by 2, and add 7 to it! so, if the guy is 20... divided by 2 is 10... add 7 to that and you get 17! a guy that is 20 years old should NOT date someone younger than 17! this equation works well, because as the guy gets older, it allows for a bigger gap in age. when he is 50... according to the equation he can date someone as young as 32!! 18 year difference! lol ok i hope that answers your question! :)

HOw/where about do i go to get scholarships to study oversease.if anyone could help me it would be much appreciated.

The scholarship im really looking for is a performing arts scholarship.but any would do?its for a performing arts school in the states.

well i am not exactly 100% sure about the scholarship you are looking for, but here are 2 things you can do:

1) go to fastweb.com which is a website that you give your information to, and they match you up with scholarships that you are eligible for based on the info you provided. You can then apply for the ones that you like and hope that you get them!

2) the second thing you can do is google scholarships in general, scholarships for international students, and scholarships for students in performing arts schools! good luck!

I know that there are some people who are just naturally really skinny, but there are some people who are mega needle thin. Is that possible for people to be naturally that thin??? Brigitte Bardot had a 20 inch waist-----Scarlett O'Hara from "Gone With The Wind" had a 17-inch waist. 17 inches! Jesus! I just can't see how people can be just born that way.

hahah that's a funny question. but yeah, i have a 20 inch waist, and i was born that way, so i guess it is safe to say that yes, people are born that way. I eat when i'm hungry and stop when i'm full, and i eat everything... i don't put a limit on those things. so basically, i don't have an eating disorder, and i've never had one... and i do exercise moderately, but not too much. i guess some people are just born pretty small... haha well i hope that answers your question. :)

is there anyway to get the music on my computer as the ringtone on my cell phone. i have the Nokia 6015i if that helps. if theres a way can you please tell me how? thanks

the only way you can do that is if your phone has "blue tooth." if it does, then you would have to buy the software to install on your computer, which will allow you to send the songs to your phone. you will also need a program to cut out the parts of the songs that you would like to make as your ringtones. if you don't have blue tooth (find out by going to the store where you got it and asking them), then the only way you could get songs for ringtones is by downloading them onto your phone and paying a couple of dollars! hope that helps!

It's not wrong to want to do it... it's just hormones. But is it wrong to actually do it at age 13? I think the answer to that is ABSOLUTELY!! You are still a child... you haven't even full developed, and neither have the boys your age! There is no way you could possibly be ready to take on the responsibility that comes along with having sex! If you still don't think it's wrong, ask yourself this... "is 13 too young to have a baby?"

ok so this is like my 5th period and i've never had cramps really bad. today im having really bad cramps. whats the best thing to do, to stop the pain? its unbarable!

hey! well sorry to hear that... but at least you don't get cramps every time! basically, what you ned to do is drink a LOT of water (this will also help get rid of bloating), take some medicine with ibuprofin (tylenol, midol, advil... anything), lay down in bed and put a heating pad on your stomach! I have one that is microwavable... it's basically fleece and filled with these little balls that heat up in the microwave and stay warm for a while! Cramps should be gone within half an hour (hopefully)! :) hope u feel better!

ok i had a question but no one can seem to answer it. i tried calling the company too & they're busy.

i have cingular & i have rollover minutes. lets say i have 1000 rollover minutes. now, cingular has nights & weekends 'free' but i don't know what that means exactly. here's a scenerio- lets say i used 800 minutes. i have 500 minutes on my plan, so i used 500 minutes, and then that means 300 rollover minutes. then lets say 100 of those 300 rollover minutes were nights or weekends. does that mean i used 300 rollover minutes or 200 rollover minutes, since 100 of those minutes were 'free nights & weekends'. does that make sense?? sorry if it doesnt.

Hi! haha ok that was a little bit confusing but i think i got it! I don't have rollover but I do have cingular. Free nights and weekends means that the minutes included in your plan do NOT get wasted when you talk on saturday and sunday, and on the weekdays after 7 (your plan could be after 9, mine is after 7 though). So if you have used an extra 300 minutes (your rollover minutes), and 100 of them were on a weekend or on a weeknight, then you really only used 200 of your rollover minutes! Also, check to see if your minutes are wasted when you talk to someone who has cingular. I am not sure if that's the case with rollover, but I know I can talk to anyone who has cingular for "free" all the time! Hope that helps! And deffinitely check your bill when it comes in the mail to make sure everything is right!

right down to it - do midnight snacks, or eating after 8 o'clock make you fat? If not, then why is it bad? what's the big fuss about?

well, some people say it does because you are not burning calories when you are sleeping! I've heard others say that your metabolism is at it's fastest while you sleep! So go figure! I eat after dinner all the time, and I am far from fat! I just try to stick to fruits and veggies though, and I drink a lot of water too! I think doing that is fine, but eating cake and ice cream an hour before going to bed every night will probably make you gain a few pounds!

What's the income of an orthopedic job? How long do you have to be in college for it?

Hi, well you need to be a bit more specific here! I am assuming that by an "orthopedic job" you mean orthopedic surgeon. If that is the case, then you need to complete 4 years of pre-med at a regular college, followed by a couple of years of medical school (not exactly sure how many for this specific field, but at least 3), and then you need to do a residency for a few years, during which you will get payed, but not much (around 30,000 a year). As far as how much you will get payed, it depends on where you are working. In Pennsylvania for example, the median income is around 300,000 dollars a year! To check the salary in a different area, go to salary.com! They should all be pretty close though! Hope that helps!
