i'm 15 and a girl and i have a best friend that is 15 and yes a guy. we like each other more than best friends and we really want to go out like boyfriend and girlfriend. the thing is my parents are very strict portuguese parents. THEY DONT WANT ME DATING UNTIL I'M 50!! i even asked my mom why she wont let me date..i asked if she didnt trust me and she just says well i dont ant any boy to take advantage of you and she doesnt want me to get hurt..and i told her that i'm not stupid & i know the consequences of everything..and its soo unfair because his parents dont mind..and my mom knows him well because he used to be one of her students but my father doesnt really know him at all..how do i get my parents to allow me to have a boyfriend? any tips? thanks =]

ok, the only way to do it is to have your guy friend come over and meet the parents and then, after he leaves you talk to your parents about it. If they liked him they will generally let you be bf&gf.
You are falsely mad at your parents. I bet you feel they are wrong and not understanding and what not. My older brother feels the same way, but my dad has called (predicted) every move he has made with his girl friends over time. Its so odd to have my dad say my bro will do something and then to watch him do it. Parents have gone through the same thing even if you dont want to admit it, they know what is going on. If they still say no after they met him then you need to respect their wishes.

I dont have time for anything but school. Im taking hard classes this year (Im a sophmore in high school) and I literally dont have time for anything, sometimes including church =(. Im always like "If I dont get 50 things memorized today then Ill have to memorize 100 tomorrow.." Im just always thinking about school and I dont have any fun anymore. After this year Im not taking hard classes because my youth is being wasted (if that makes sense), but what do I do about it NOW? (link)

I dont know what you have to memorize but a suggestion, if you find the roots of what you need to memorize it may be easier. Like find why they are the way they are. Confucius said "If one learns from others but does not think, one will be bewildered." If you learn the why it is and where it is from and how it is made up then it wont need to be memorized cause you will know how to get there. Hope I helped

Brilliant answer you gave to the Guy concerning Science and Religion. A monk told me the exact same thing.
The monks of St. Anthony's remain wonderfully Dark Age in their outlook and conversation. Exorcisms, miraculous healings and ghostly apparitions of long-dead saints are to the monks what doorstep milk deliveries are to suburban Londoners - unremarkable everyday occurrences that would never warrant a passing mention if foreigners did not always seem to be so inexplicably amazed by them:
"See up there?" said Abuna Dioscorus, as I was finishing my egg. He pointed to the space between the two towers of the abbey church. "In June 1987 in the middle of the night our father St. Antony appeared there hovering on a cloud of shining light."
"You saw this?" I asked.
"No," said Fr. Dioscorus. "I'm short-sighted."
He took off his spectacles to show me the thickness of the glass.
"I can barely see the abbot when I sit beside him at supper," he said. "But many other fathers saw the apparition. On one side of St. Antony stood St. Mark the Hermit and on the other was Abuna Yustus."
"Abuna Yustus?"
"He is one of our fathers. He used to be the sacristan."
"So what was he doing up there?"
"He had just departed this life."
"Oh," I said. "I see."
"Officially he's not a saint yet, but I'm sure he will be soon. His canonization is up for discussion at the next Coptic synod. His relics have been the cause of many miracles: blind children have been made to see, the lame have got up from their wheelchairs..."
"All the usual sort of stuff."
"Exactly. But you won't believe this-"
Here Fr. Dioscorus lowered his voice into a whisper.
"You won't believe this but we had some visitors from Europe two years ago - Christians, some sort of Protestants - who said they didn't believe in the power of relics!"
The monk stroked his beard, wide-eyed with disbelief.
"No," he continued. "I'm not joking. I had to take the Protestants aside and explain that we believe that St. Antony and all the fathers have not died, that they live with us, continually protecting us and looking after us. When they are needed - when we go to their graves and pray to their relics - they appear and sort out our problems."
"Can the monks see them?"
"Who? Protestants?"
"No. These deceased fathers."
"Abuna Yustus is always appearing," said Fr. Dioscorus matter-of-factly. "In fact one of the fathers had a half-hour conversation with him the day before yesterday. And of course St. Antony makes fairly regular appearances - although he is very busy these days answering prayers all over the world. But even when we cannot see the departed fathers we can always feel them. And besides - there are many other indications that they are with us."
"What do you mean?" I asked. "What sort of indications?"
"Well, take last week for instance. The Bedouin from the desert are always bringing their sick to us for healing. Normally it is something quite simple: we let them kiss a relic, give them an aspirin and send them on their way. But last week they brought in a small girl who was possessed by a devil. We took the girl into the church, and as it was the time for vespers one of the fathers went off to ring the bell for prayers. When he saw this the devil inside the girl began to cry: 'Don't ring the bell! Please don't ring the bell!' We asked him why not. 'Because,' replied the devil, 'when you ring the bell it's not just the living monks who come into the church: all the holy souls of the fathers join with you too, as well as great multitudes of angels and archangels. How can I remain in the church when that happens? I'm not staying in a place like that.' At that moment the bell began to ring, the girl shrieked and the devil left her! "
Fr. Dioscorus clicked his fingers: "Just like that. So you see," he said. "That proves it."
The Coptic monks who live in St. Antony's today are kind, gentle men, much more modest and reasonable than the bristling Greek brigands of Mar Saba or their sometimes fanatical brethren on Mount Athos. This evening I had a long conversation with Fr. Dioscorus in the refectory of the guest quarters. As the last light was fading gradually from the sky outside, I asked him about his motives for becoming a monk and why he had left the comforts of Alexandria for the harsh climate of the deserts.
"Many people think we come to the desert to punish ourselves, because it is hot and dry and difficult to live in," said Fr. Dioscorus. "But it's not true. We come because we love it here."
"What is there to love about the desert?"
"We love the peace, the silence. When you really want to talk to someone you want to sit together in a quiet place and talk, not to be in the midst of a crowd of other people. How can you talk properly in a crowd? So it is with us. We come here because we want to be alone with our God. As St. Antony once said: 'Let your heart be silent, then God will speak.' "
"But you do seem to want to punish yourselves deliberately: the hot, coarse robes you wear, the long Lenten fasts you all undertake..."
"Ah," said Fr. Dioscorus, "But you see fasting is not punishment. It is a tool, not an end in itself. It is not easy to communicate with God on a full stomach. When you have had a big meal you cannot concentrate your mind. You want to go to sleep, not to sit in church praying. To pray successfully it is better to be a little hungry."
"But doing without possessions: isn't that a punishment?"
"No: it's a choice. For myself I have begun to get rid of many of the things which clutter up my cell. Last week I threw out my chair. I don't need it. Now I sit on the floor. Why should I bother with extra food, with spare clothes, with unnecessary furniture? All you need is a piece of bread and enough covering for the body. The less you have, the less you have to distract you from God. Do you understand?"
I smiled, uncertainly.
"Well just look around this room. When I am in here I think that the chair is in the wrong place, I must move it. Or may be that the lamp is out of oil, I must fill it. Or...or that that shutter is broken and I must get it mended. But in the desert there is just sand. You don't think of anything else; there is nothing to disturb you. It should be the same in a monk's cell. The less there is, the easier it is to talk to God."
"Do you find it easy?"
"It is never easy, but with practice I find it less difficult," said Dioscorus. "The spiritual life is like a ladder. Every day if you are disciplined and make the effort you find you will rise up, understand a little better, find it a little easier to concentrate, find that your mind is wandering less and less. When you pray alone in your cell without distraction you feel as if you are in front of God, as if nothing is coming to you except from God. When you succeed - if you do manage to banish distractions and communicate directly with God - then the compensation outweighs any sufferings or hardships. You feel as if something, which was dim, is suddenly lighted for you. You feel full of light and pleasure: it is like a blinding charge of electricity..."
"But you don't have to come into the middle of the desert to find an empty room free of distractions. You can find that anywhere: in Cairo, or Alex, or London..."
"What you say is true," said Fr. Dioscorus with a smile. "You can pray anywhere. After all, God is everywhere so you can find him everywhere."
The monk gestured to the darkening sand dunes outside:
"But in the desert," he said, "in the pure clean atmosphere, in the silence - there you can find yourself. And unless you begin to know yourself how can you even begin to search for God?"

Thanks for your support and thought inspireing story(experiance). Science and religion are touchy fields cause for some reason many people will not like to admit they are wrong, but most of all people will not admit that they dont know. There are those that believe and those that dont. In reality both are religions because the people who go by either have faith that they are right. I feel awkward telling people this cause i admit to not knowing everything, but actually knowing quite little. I would like to think that the answer to religion and science will eventually be answered, however i doubt the answer holds much more then chaos. Though i have no backround to my opinions, as I lack much experience being as young as i am. Once again Thanks, its nice to have someone share there opinion.
|
We don't need religion. Hear me out. If Jesus were to come down from Hevan and say "I am the son of God" and showed us all of is water to wine stuff, scientist could test it and then Christianity would become a science and all other religions would be be proven wrong and therefore not be religions.
That was my little prologue, here is my question Is it possible that our societies have reached a point in which we can admit there is no need for religion and have good morals without a book or God(s) to tell us what they are? (link)
|
Albert Einstein once said "Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind."
I answered with this to show you, there is no need for science or for religion. We live in a universe with so many paradoxal equations and so much unknow its not the judgement of society to say what is and isnt. You as a person may believe in antidepressants, but i belive society has become to weak to deal with issues. A religion is a personal belief as can be said for science. Can you prove math beyond the labels you give it? Can you prove faith cant manifest? Can you prove the bible wasnt made for mass manipulation? No there are so many uncertainties.
I believe you have some errors in your statements. If you ask logic to prove that logic is logical, the only answer you can come up with is that it makes sense, which contridicts itself. Our universe is self contridicting.
Religion is nessasary, though you may not relize it. And im going out on this note:
Religion is as needed as Emotions.
And a final quote from einstein "My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble mind."

I've been running on my treadmill since late October and since then I have lost 9-11 pounds. (I used to weigh 136-137 but now I am around the 125-127 range) My goal weight is 118-120, is there any way I can get down there? Because it seems as if lately, these past two months haven't contributed much. & I read somewhere that when your body burns fat after exercise, & you aren't seeing anymore results after a while, that you have to start doing MORE.
I run 5.5 (heavy jog) on the treadmill for 15 minutes every other day, do some kind of LIGHT weight lifting, and also do 5 reps of 25 sets of workout ball crunches.
Also, I eat normal foods, I am just very careful about how I eat it...like, I won't overeat or anything. I'll eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm not.
Also, is it better to workout everday or every other day? I always feel guilty about skipping days, but I heard it was actually more beneficial for every other day. (link)
|
yes, you can get down there, first try cutting off your non dominant arm. Then go for the dominent arm.

sorry if this is long.but i need some help fast.. ok i am 3.0 student and i am a freshman and i play basketball. i will admitted i am not the worst or the best player on the team (out of 9 people i am like 5) i got 2 coachs and the varsity one has anger mangement problems that when he gets mad he will literaly through stuff. the Jv coach( my coach) really isnt fare. i got to all pratices so up on time and listen and follow directions and thent here are other people who dont show up usually and she lets them play in the game 3 times as long as me. the last two games i was playin for 3 minutes out of 2 games wit 4 quaters of 8 minutes. now what should i do. 1) quiet.
2) talk tot he coach about it even though i am not supposed to ask about playin time
p.s. the Varsity coach as called everyone stupid, losers and sluts.
i love playin b-ball and i dont know what to do? (link)
|
You have to be so much better than everyone around you that they have no choice but to play you. GO harder than any other player. Earn your time or Take it. You have to make plays happen...DONT talk to them until you are superior to every other player on the team.

Today in school they had assemblys for each grasde level well it was all about fighting. this is my first year at my school because i moved I'm a junoir well the school i go to now has not had a fight until this year like we've like 3-4 fights already i mean idk to me that not realy alot my old school we had tons of fights i mean constantly fights some would be bad and some would not. point here is my school and the people in it make this big deal about the fights saying they are going to end up being a bad school and what not. To me i want people to stop talking about it cause its driving me crazy i think they are over reacting about it.
I don't know if i should just let it bother me and aggravate me or just let it blow by.
- is it really all that bad having 3-4 fights this year.? counting they havent had any in 6 years?
thank you. (link)

sudden outbreaks in violence are usually followed or caused by ddrugs and such. so for a school to not have it and then all of a sudden WHAM fights and drugs....its not a good thing.
Fights in my school are rare. My Principal has a no tolerance rule for fights. First fight and your out 10 days, and your gonig out of the school in handcuffs. And if a teacher gets hit...lets not go there.

hey...
anyone who's good with computers...
everytime i switch my homepage it just keeps going back to the old one..how do i change this..and also..there is this toolbar on my main desktop and i dont know how to get rid of it. HELP!!
thanks in advance=) (link)

you have a virus, spyware or add ware (most likely the later 2)....anyway one way to fix this is going into the registry and editing it. Dont do it if you dont know what your doing. My other option for you is to go to downloads.com and download addaware or spysweeper or something like that. Lastly i would say go to downloads.com and download(free trial) Registry Medic and play around with it(options and optimize IE)
If you need more assistance leave me a message.

My computer has suddenly stopped letting me visit urls ending in tk. (e.g: http://www.randomsiteetc.tk)
I use Internet Explorer so I thought there might be a problem with it and downloaded Mozilla Firefox but it still won't let me visit those urls.
It's really irritating because all my friend's bands and other local bands have .tk urls and I want to look at their websites.
Does anyone have any advice on what I should do to solve the problem? I use Norton Anti Virus if that helps, although I've been through the options and it doesn't have anything about .tk urls.
Thank you. (link)

well for a quick solution how about pinging the site and using the ip to bring the site up.

ok well im not aloud to date n im 13 years old is that like to young to date i mean cmon i am not little ????? (link)
|
yes, you are too young. how many teens get married? How many marrigages end in divorce. Times have changed, Its rare to see anyone marry there high school sweet heart anymore. If you gonna rate me bad for that then dont rate me. If your still not convinced that your young, how many bills do you pay; how do you get places. How do you get clothes. Respect your parents wishes because they usually know best.
I must tell you that most who look to date will not find the right person, the right person usually just comes into your life and you know it. Dateing at 13 isnt really all that good either. What will you do, go to a place(something like rollerskateing) and hug, maybe make out. Just go places with friends.
THe pyschilogical answer to why you feel the needs to date at 13 is that you want to be older and you feel thats what older people do. So the truth be told, you only want to act and be treated older. You can only be 13 once, act 13, 13 is such a great age, there are so few cares. just enjoy life.
