Being a Kid

Question Posted Saturday February 11 2006, 9:29 pm

I dont have time for anything but school. Im taking hard classes this year (Im a sophmore in high school) and I literally dont have time for anything, sometimes including church =(. Im always like "If I dont get 50 things memorized today then Ill have to memorize 100 tomorrow.." Im just always thinking about school and I dont have any fun anymore. After this year Im not taking hard classes because my youth is being wasted (if that makes sense), but what do I do about it NOW?

well, like most asians you're stuck, but if you can manage your time wisely you can make things work out. the thing is, is that even though you may be taking hard classes it will pay off later in life. You will be successful and get a really high paying job, and then you'll be able to have fun anytime you want. If you still wanna not take hard classes at least have 1 or 2 depending on you're schedule. that way it's not so much stress. You're a lil ways in too deep in this one, but don't take it too hard. I know a couple people who went insane, one person ODed on speed cuase she tried to study as fast as she can. just be careful and manage wisely

I feel for you. I am sort of in a situation like that, but I make time for Church. I'm not saying it's bad, because I'm fully aware about how busy, hectic, and time-consuming high school can be. Instead of memorizing a lot of things and having a high chance in forgetting them later, find an easier way to learn them. Try making up fun songs, rhymes, poems, etc. that'll be fun for you to learn and grasp easier. Ask a teacher for help. A great idea would be to form a study group with a friend or a couple of friends, and try this technique. You guys will learn from eachother, and at the same time have social time. I think that if you find a more effective and easier way of learning, you will be fine. From there, you can manage your time better spend time with your friends and going to Church, Try these ways and a study group to lessen your stress. I hope I helped!

I dont know what you have to memorize but a suggestion, if you find the roots of what you need to memorize it may be easier. Like find why they are the way they are. Confucius said "If one learns from others but does not think, one will be bewildered." If you learn the why it is and where it is from and how it is made up then it wont need to be memorized cause you will know how to get there. Hope I helped
