hey...
anyone who's good with computers...
everytime i switch my homepage it just keeps going back to the old one..how do i change this..and also..there is this toolbar on my main desktop and i dont know how to get rid of it. HELP!!
thanks in advance=)
These are anti-adware and anti-spyware respectively. If you run both, it should fix most of your problems, except if you're in a very bad situation. Also, I wouldn't recommend running Hijack This to start, because it's not as user friendly and does not filter out critical system resources, so you might actually delete something you don't want to. Another alternative is if you know what malware is annoying you, try googling it and doing some research. There are quite a few sites explaining step by step how to remove them. Devoidxandroid answered Wednesday December 14 2005, 6:51 pm: you have a browser hijacker, its Ad-ware (which is part of the Mal-ware catigory) You need a program called "Hijack this" and Lavasoft (USA) does a program called "Adaware" that will help but the first program I mentioned should do the trick. eternitysofbliss answered Wednesday December 14 2005, 6:06 pm: you have a virus, spyware or add ware (most likely the later 2)....anyway one way to fix this is going into the registry and editing it. Dont do it if you dont know what your doing. My other option for you is to go to downloads.com and download addaware or spysweeper or something like that. Lastly i would say go to downloads.com and download(free trial) Registry Medic and play around with it(options and optimize IE)

shake answered Wednesday December 14 2005, 5:35 pm: Tool bar could be a result of adware of spyware. Save your homepage setting. If it keeps changing to odd homepages you didn't set, it is probably adware of spyware, too. [ shake's advice column | Ask shake A Question ]
