I'm a vegan. I like glam rock and androgynous males. I have two cats. they're mystical beings. I'm going to college in less than a month.
advice
ok i really want a digital camera but i dont want to spend a lot of money on it so i was wondering if anybody has a digital camera thats works good and is affordable?
thanks
my brother does a lot of digital photography work professionally and amateurly. naturally, he's used a lot of different cameras. he always recommends the canon powershot series. for christmas last year he got me a canon powershot a610. it's been awesome. they're really well-made and with cameras you want that more than something cheap. you have to spend "a lot of money" to get something worth a lot of money.
Hello, I'm a girl and I'm 14. I have a lot of fat around my buttocks, thighs, and my stomach. I'm actually had a woman at an amusement park ask me if I was pregnant! (If I was she wasn't going to let me ride a certain thing.) I didn't think I looked that bad until that day so now I'm worried about losing weight. I'm 130 pounds so I figure my goal will be to lose 20 pounds, but more importantly lose the fat. Has anyone got any tips, rountines, and exercises I should try? I like in the country so I haven't got any good places to run and it's so hot here. I can't swim, btw. Anyway, please help me lose the extra pounds so I can feel confident again!
it's highly likely that the woman at the amusement park had been instructed to ask every woman that same question. you probably weren't the only one that day. consult your doctor before losing weight or considering a diet. it's likely that you don't need to lose weight at all.
my cat wont stop pooping in the corner! what do i do!
put his litterbox in that corner for a week. then move it about a foot every day until you can get it into the place you want to keep it. alternatively you can use this time to train your cat to use the toilet. there are a lot of good websites on this if you were to google.
Im considering going to sleep away camp for my first time. Im 14 & Female. Its a boy/girl camp and I was just wondering if anyone could tell me everything I need to know about going to an overnight camp. Its in 10 days so Im nervous. Do camps let you use cell phones? And also, I straighten my hair every day..what about that? Also, any advice on how to meet friends? What is important to bring or ABSOLUTELY essential to bring? Ill take ANY advice about going away. :] thanks!
cell phones and other electronics depend on the camp. I would attempt to take them. if they're taken away you can always get them back after camp. trust me, you won't miss them. use common sense more than anything. flashlights, radios with headphones, watches make sense. other things can be considered more frivilous than useful to camp leaders. be prepared to back everything you bring up with reasons why you need them.
absolutely essential items (no matter which camp you go to):
bathing suit (2)
water bottle (I suggest a nalgene bottle, but any will do)
something small and quiet to do during breaks (like knitting or a book or cards)
stationary and stamps
change to call home if allowed by pay phone
sleeping bag and a set of sheets for a twin bed. (depending on the camp [and weather conditions] you may need both of them. the last camp I went to [two years ago] we had a tornado during. I only had sheets so I ended up wrapping myself in them and my blanket and running through the rain across the camp. I would have KILLED for a sleeping bag. everything would've been easier. take at least one sheet because camp mattresses are often the worst mattresses ever. and usually covered in vinyl.)
two pillows. alternate which one touches the mattress.
flip flops for the shower. even if it's pretty clean, there could be uncomfortable mats on the floor.
bathrobe even if you don't normally use one.
theme-appropriate items. most camps have weekly themes. if it's water week you can take more bathing suits. if you're going to a horse camp then take your helmet and appropriate shoes.
things to decorate your bunk space. posters. pictures. tape. push-pins. etc.
a whistle. always wear it. you never know when you'll need someone.
advice on meeting friends:
the first few hours will be pretty quiet. you'll find a few people who either regularly attend every single week of the camp or have been to previous camps. they'll know all of the other regulars and will be sitting around comparing the rest of their year. it's very helpful to be on good terms with these people because they'll introduce you to everyone else. the camp couselors will usually arrange getting-to-know-you games that will also help. you'll probably wear nametags as well. try and pick two or three people very early on that you want to know better and sit with them at the first meal.
also about meals, make sure you try a bit of everything every day. you can always go back and get more if you enjoy it and it's less wasteful to throw away a little instead of a lot. don't eat more than you normally do or you'll get sick, but don't skip any meals either. if you absolutely cannot eat anything, every camp has a back-up meal. it's usually peanut butter and jelly in some format. don't be shy about asking the cooks early on. it'll come in handy at least once.
camp is about learning to go without conveniences and trying new things. don't be afraid to do either.
13f well im a disco chic and i love the disco days and dont think disco is dead but anyway does anybody know where i could get some disco clothes from the disco era.i love to be flashy and outgouing and i thought what better way.o yeah i live in north carolina if it helps.much love peace.TWEETY
try going to thrift stores and vintage stores. a lot of era clothing is picked up quickly by theater companies and costumers, but you might be able to find some things. also consider buying vintage material and patterns to make your own clothing.
is hummus healthy? i mean i thought it was but i wasnt exactly 100% sure. i eat...tribe classic hummus. any clue?
please&thankyou
nothing is healthy if it's all you eat. it also depends on what you eat hummus on. if you're eating hummus on top of pita bread you're probably fine with it as a snack. but hummus on top of salt-covered fritos is not good.
I am thinking about becoming a vegetarian. But i dont know the FIRST thing about it. I know that they say vegans dont get enough protein and stuff like that and i dont know how i would get certain vitamins if i did become a vegan. I tried to google this but i didnt find anything that answers my questions. If anyone can help me out I would greatly appreciate it!
I can help you out. I just need specific questions. I think you're the same person who asked the question I just answered.
I'm going to try to become a vegatarian. I just want to try it out and see if I can live without meat. I heard it helps lose weight. I AM NOT GOING TO BE ANOREXIC! I'm just not going to eat meats. I know meat has a lot of protein, so besides meat what are some healthy foods that have protein?
I'm a vegetarian/transitioning vegan. I have a lot of recipes and that sort of thing for future reference.
now. fake meats are often made to have the nutritional content of real meats. a lot of them contain more balanced amounts of protein than real meat. they're also low-fat alternatives. get to know them. a lot of them taste exactly like meat. my favorites are boca burgers (having never liked real burgers), smartdogs, and practically everything made by veggie patch. I've heard a lot of negative reviews of tofurkey products, but I have one friend who swears by them.
rice, beans, and spinach all contain partial proteins. you need combination foods to gain the same type of protein as from real meat. rice and beans together is a good choice. get to know beans. they're really really good and can be prepared in thousands of ways and very few people really know them as well as they should. I have a lot of really great bean soup recipes I can give you if you're interested. spinach replaces the iron content you'll be lacking and it's not as bad as most people think. My favorite spinach products are veggie patch spinach nuggets and Amy's frozen spinach pizza. I could live off of spinach and beans. seriously.
finally, being a vegetarian does not help people lose weight unless they stick to strict food allotments and exercise. as a vegetarian I've lost six pounds (in 4 months). my mom, who is also dieting and casaually eating meat, has lost about that much every month. my dad has actually gained weight. I cook for the family and I don't use meat (so around here we don't buy meat anymore). consider low-meat dieting and exercise if you're more serious about losing weight. and remember to take several months to transition into vegetarianism. your body needs time to learn to cope with massive amounts of beans (that you'll be eating if you're like me) where it once got easy-to-digest fats in meat. that's why I'm transitioning into total veganism. I need to have time to get used to soy milk and soy cheese. I need time to eliminate eggs in my diet. my transitioning plan included a few days every week where I could eat meat and a few days where I would eat only vegetarian-safe foods. I set myself a date (april 1st, 2006) where I would completely stop eating meat and other smaller dates where I would quit eating beef or chicken or fish. the key to doing it safely is taking a lot of time to change.
edit in response to MikeCFT: Lacto-ovo vegetarians DO NOT eat fish. pescotarians are vegetarians that allow themselves to eat fish. pellotarians refrain from red meat only.
Where can i buy iron on clothing labels? (So my child does not loose any clothes while she is at summer camp.) thank you
consider buying iron-on transfer paper and making personalized labels using your computer. you can also embroider the child's name (if you know how to, that is) or use fabric paint.
Tomorrow I have to get my first cavity done.. ever! I'm so scared because I know they have to numb your mouth with novocaine by putting a needle through your gum! I have such a fear of needles or anythign sharp but I still have to get this done. Does the shot really hurt that much? What can I compare the pain too! Thank you
if you're afraid of needles you can probably request laughing gas instead. the actual process doesn't hurt at all. they drill down your tooth around the cavity then fill it with a sealant. it's not a big deal. take a CD player.
how do I stop sunburn that itches?
if your sunburn itches then you actually have sun poisoning. if you've never had it before, go to an immediate care center. you need to get a medicated cream or you will permanently damage your skin and possibly your nerves if the skin is burnt enough. in this case, aloe vera will not work as well as a prescribed cream. aloe vera is for the initial burning sensation.
if you cannot get to a physician you'll need to take an tepid oatmeal bath or soak in calamine lotion. expect to be out for a while. sun poisoning is serious.
Lemon Juice on hair and then going into the sun! What happens?
if you use it near your roots they become brittle and your hair breaks. it's irreversible damage. otherwise your hair just lightens. you can also use it on fabric.
Not a question, I work in the industry and we find young talent all the time. Last month we found a 12 year old who is incredible and for her first on camera appearance is working in a Nike commercial. So unless you know for sure don't give advice.
theater is like professional sports. very few people get in. at fourteen I was a diva and wanted to be onstage all the time. I got my first part last summer and I'm 17 now.
very very few people make it.
What advice would you give a 14 year old aspiring actress who's parents don't give a damn about her dreams, who lives out in the country, and isn't the stereotype of pretty?
wait until high school. sign up for dance and choral music and theater. do theater.
you probably won't be "discovered" at 14. no one is.
my dogs is throwing up blood and I can't afford to go to the vet, Please give me advice on what this could be . I feel really bad as I love my and she is not an out door pet, and is only fed good dog food. She is part husky and collie.
calling the vet is free.
I've seriously gone crazy worrying about my brittle split end/thick hair and I need some advice on what to do from anyone willing to throw in their 10 cents on the matter. Here's my story:
1 Year ago I bought an electric trimmer that I was planning on using for certain parts of my body, not my head until I made a huge mistake by deciding that I wanted to try and shave the hair off my head by using it. So foolishly I did, not to the point that it was all off but their was minimal hair left on my head, I wasn't bald. So anyways what grew in was this brittle week hair that sticks up in weird places all over, can't hold any styles, and is overall HORRIBLE. I've had haircuts, tried using protein shampoo's and conditioners but I think my hair may all be split ends because it's really out of control to the point I almost want to shave it all off.
So I guess my question is, am I screwed for life? This has really been the thorn in my brain for some time now and not ever being able to grow my hair long because it comes out so thick/brittle/ and unruly is really bothering me. I swear I'd do anything to have healthy hair again.
-Evan
I had bald patches in elementary school. hair tends to grow in that way, but as it grows longer and longer it gets less unruly because it has room to lie down the way you want it.
happy hat wearing!
I dont eat meat and i was wondering wat foods can i eat high iron!
And also are there any symptoms to show that i am animic?
Thanks
beansandspinachbeansandspinach.
rice!
to get iron you have to eat complete proteins which are combination foods. black beans and brown rice is an example.
if you suspect you have anemia then you should go to the doctor and have bloodwork done. it's the only way to know for sure.
i dont eat alot of meat and i dont drink milk. i eat any other dairy products, is there any kind of food i can eat to replace that?
I take you want to go vegetarian, yes?
I've tried all of the following: VeggiePatch Chicken Free Nuggets, Spinach Nuggets; Boca All-Natural, Preservative-Free burgers, bratwurst, and crumbles; Tofu made by various companies (and I hate it), Amy's products (most of her pizzas and chilis), and vegan puddings and yogurts made by a company I've forgotten. there was a panda on the label.
I've also experimented with a lot of vegan recipes. my favorite meal is minestrone soup (which I can give you a simple recipe for if you drop a line in my inbox). I suggest you slowly transition out of meat and animal products over a three or four month period. you need to make your body ready for the large amounts of beans and rice and all-natural foods you'll have to consume in large quantities. if you choose to go back on meat you also need to wean yourself onto it slowly. it's important not to shock your body.
okay so i got my ipod the other day when i was at my friends house, and she already had iTunes so i just put 100 of the songs i liked from her computer to my iPod. now my ipod is at my house, and im wondering if theres any way that i can transfer the songs on my ipod to my computer, because i want to have those songs on my ipod AND on my computer...so can anyone give me good directions to do that? thanks..it would be a big help.
there are a few transfer programs available on the internet if you google. my favorite is senuti.
Yesterday my friend wanted me to sleep over her house another day but I cou ldn't because I had a bbq to go to and she wanted to come. So I called my parents asking if they could ask my aunt so they did but she said no. Then she got pissed at me because I wanted to go even if she couldn't go. I think it is really dumb but I don't know what to do. Last week she got mad because she couldn't sleep over my house. What should I do? How should I talk to her because I want her to stop getting mad at me over stupid things.
hmm. the same thing happened to me ten minutes ago.
right now I really do not want to talk to my friend whose aunt is having the barbecue. I don't want to see her. I'm extremely POed, but it's stronger in my case because I've broken plans with 3 other people just because I hadn't done anything with that friend in about a month.
if she calls you again today ask her if she wants to do something on a day you KNOW she has nothing to do. if she has rehearsals or practice for something every night, don't ask her to do something at night. it'll just annoy her more because she'll think that you don't take the time to know her schedule.
also, if you're of driving age or have people who would be willing to drive you places, consider buying her candy or flowers and taking them to her house sometime today when you're not at your aunt's house. your aunt will actually probably understand if you have to leave her barbecue to go do it; everyone has been stood up and has stood up someone at some point.
it may seems dumb, but it's probably a lot different to her. she has to stay at home and think about everyone else having a good time for the rest of the day. that's hard to deal with.
