there's a "report abuse" link down there right under "make suggestions". thanks.

Q: How do advice giver's be able to like rate a question?

Q: I wasn't sure whether or not you made it to the moderator discussion often so I thought I'd give this a whirl. SunkistSarah initially suggested that we use the ( ) to know how much new feedback we had. Then I suggested that we not only do that, but add "Your Feedback" to the sidebar. I think that would solve some problems and make a lot of people happy! :D so hopefully you agree! :D Thanks for taking the time to read this and possibly taking it into consideration!!

I responded to that thread with more questions for you guys last night. Basically, I'm willing to do it but there are some issues to work out that I'm hoping the moderators will help with... do you want to know about every rating or just ones where a comment was left, too? Should we sort feedback by date left as a default? Where should the "feedback" link point to? Anyway, leave comments in the thread that's there.

Q: Ok, I'm a level one moderator, and I don't want to be one anymore, how do I go about doing this?
I never thought about it. I guess you could ask a level II moderator to ban you for an hour... that'd get you kicked off for six weeks. File an abuse report for that one. Or just give crappy advice until your rating falls below 3.8.

Q: I know this may offend advicenators, but I've been looking for other advice columns to apply at, and can't find any. I love giving advice and recieving it here, but I'd really like to help other sites too, and I will link this site to it. I really am planning a career in advising people, thats how much I've fallen in love with it, so could anyone help me out with other columns to advise, or does anyone know how to make your own? I'd really love to make my own also, please help me!
There basically aren't any, that's why I started this one! Yahoo used to have this really cool questions and answers site but they dumped it, and I have no idea why. I've seen some sites around where people are supposed to pay for advice, but none of those are very active (gee... can't figure out why). So for the time being, we're kinda it.

Q: I think it'd be interesting to have some sort of communities on Advicenators. Something where columnists with similar interests or answer styles could ... commune. :P Maybe with like a community message board.
Ooh and people could ask advice of entire communities or something like that.
Just a thought. :) Keep up the fantastic work with the site.

Message boards take up a lot of bandwidth, plus we don't want to distract from the "advice column" goal of the site. We currently have boards for moderators and paid users, but don't intend to add them for anyone else.

Q: I have people FINALLY asking me questions into my inbox, and im really excited that people like my advice...so theres no possible wat for me to find out who is sending me the questions??
No, we keep that private.

Q: for some reason on my column..it foesnt have my average rating posted, or how many times i have been rated.....and i really need to know how many time i was rated and stuff so i know when i can become a moderator. Please help!

Q: I was on my advice column, and I usually check my ratings, and I've been rated about 99 times, and one day, when I went to check them, it dropped to 89 ratings! I have no idea how this is possible, also, does it show all of your ratings? Or do they eventually go away as more gets added?

Thank you!

Q: I changed my e-mail. How do I get you to e-mail me on my new screen name and not my old?
click "profile settings" on the left side there and change your e-mail address.

Q: You know how some people complain about not being able to tell which questions they have or have not answered. Well I have an idea.. On the view questions page where there is a drop down list and it says View: [unanswered questions] [top rated] etc. How about "Questions you havent answered". Just an idea! =)
I think it's a great idea, I'm just not sure how to code it. Other people have suggested rigging the "random question" to only send you to questions you haven't answered, and I'm working on that too, just slowly. Thanks!

Q: Is there a link on the site that I'm blind to see where I can find my past abuse reports and see the outcomes?
If you go to the abuse reports page, there's a bit that says "to check on reports you've submitted, click here" but to spare you that, I'll give you the link:

http://www.advicenators.com/abuse.php?mode=list&view=mine

Q: I suggest that YOU BAN thehussisloose from advicenators!! Have you even seen the advice he writes to people? He is SOOO low. I'd really appreciate it if you'd do something about his TERRIBLE comments. I HATE it.
I suggest that you file an abuse report. The help pages have instructions.

Q: In regards to the new 3.8 line to stay a moderator, i have a question for when you get below it. I've hopped the line a couple of times. Say i were at a 3.77 or so, and all of a sudden I recieved another 5. I would be above 3.8, yet i still see that i need to work to 4.0 again.

Can you change this so that if you get back to 3.8, your a moderator once more, without having to click the link?
No. The 3.8 is to give you that pad room just in case you fall below 4.0... if you fall below 3.8, you'll just have to work your way back up. It's harsh, yes, but 4.0 is the requirement.

Q: there is this advice columnist that is being mean to this girl that has a cat that has a rare disease and he told her f her his name is RunDogG please do something about him
Please read our help pages regarding procedures to report abuse. You have not given me enough information to investigate an account, nor have you given it in the right place.

Q: could you please make an option for "random question" where you can choose not to see questions youve already answered? and maybe you can also see questions from time periods other than twenty-four hours? (like choosing, two days, three days, the past week, etc) this would really help cause its so annoying to get the same questions over and over that ive already answered. thank you so much.
The "already answered" thing will be somewhat involved, but I think extending the random question pool to three days is a good idea. I'll go ahead and do that. Thanks!

Q: I don't like how everyone can view nmy advice column on the internet what if someone gives you viruses, i have a link in my profile where my friends can do this, how do i block everyone else from the web?
It is impossible for someone to give you a virus through this site, but I'll consider the "private column" option. I'm just not sure anyone would want it. Most people like the whole world reading their advice, you know?

Q: i answered someone's question (http://advicenators.com/qview.php?q=292527) with html because there were no rules against it (at least not as far as i can tell) except somthing i did MAJORLY messed up (i think it was the "html" end tag) and now the rest of the html for the "edit answer" page is inside the textbox and i cant edit it. it also made my "your answers" page be all red and marquee'd. can you please delete my answer so that its not messed up anymore?

thank you
I should have accounted for this sort of thing in the "edit answers" page and didn't... oops! So I didn't fix your answer (I'd have to dig through the database for that) but I did change the "edit answers" page, so now you should be able to fix it.

Q: Hello!

I had an email saying I had a question in my inbox. When I checked inbox it said 1 question. When I went to inbox it said I had no unanswered questions???

I was also wondering...I have answered 223 questions (as of this minute),Most I think have been rated or at least read. If I delete the answers will the question still remain on my column or will it disappear? Do they automatically go away sooner or later?

I have been rated 91 times so I know those have been read already.I have had 359 visitors.I'd like to know your opinion on how long I should keep the questions on (if I am able to get rid of some).Since i've had more visitors than questions asked I don't know if others are maybe getting something from them yet?

Haven't been here 30 days yet but really enjoying the site. What a great idea!I don't understand the rating system either but thats okay.Don't waste time explaining to me{mathematical retard) :} Thank you!
If I were you, I'd keep the answers on your column forever! It's a good indicator of how much progress you've made as a columnist... if you delete them, they're gone forever, along with numbers, ratings, everything else that comes with them.

I have thought of limiting the number of questions shown on each column, but it hasn't been implemented yet.

Q: With the new question alerts I was wondering do people see when we edit answers? I'm just wondering I edited a few of my answers and wanted to know if the people will be able to see them.
No, it won't show that. I think it'd be confusing for people to try and figure out which answers were edited, but I'll consider it because I see where you're coming from.

This advice column is for suggestions, comments, or error reporting about advicenators. If you'd like to suggest a new category, ask me a question. If you'd like to whine, bitch, or complain about advicenators, you may whine, bitch, or complain to me.

Three rules though:
1) Do not ask me for life advice. We have several thousand other members that do that.

2) Do not ask for help, or ask how to do something, or ask about
how something on the site works, unless you've read every word of our help pages and you're sure it's not addressed there.

3) Do not ask me to ban someone or investigate abuse. We have an entire abuse system set up for that.

If you disobey one of these rules, I'll delete your question.

Some guidelines about suggestions:
If you offer a suggestion that I find interesting, I might just ignore your question so it stays in my inbox as a reminder of something to do. Don't be upset that I don't answer you, and don't delete your questions (because then I'll forget!)

If you have three suggestions, please ask three separate questions, that way I can address each one individually. It's a real pain when people ask one question with like twenty different topics in it; I can't keep them straight.
