Hi, I call myself Ignatz after Dan Herriman's character in the old "Krazy Kat" comic strip. I'm 44, father of 3, husband to one, crazy about music and books and food and movies and history and martial arts. I've had some wild and crazy times in my life, and I figure I might as well put in some of my perspective.

I promise not to talk down to anyone or make fun,and I promise not to BS anyone. If you're old enough to ask a frank question, you're old enough to get a frank answer. Oh, and if you ask me a question directly, please be patient. I'll get back to you as soon as I can. My life's a bit hectic. :-)

helpp
--randomer (link)
"Little Wonder" by David Bowie.
"Hickey, Hockey, Holey" by Heywood Banks.
"Fingertips" by They Might Be Giants (heck, anything by TMBG! They're a pretty random bunch.)

Just some ideas.

So, I am in love with watches. They are one of my very favorite accessories. However, being since I love them so, I have acquired quite a lot of them. We're talking double digits. Currently, they are all on my dresser, on a platter-like dish. It's overflowing though, and I need a better place for storage.

Does anyone know of any good organizers for such things? I DO NOT want a jewelry box for them. I repeat, I DO NOT want a jewelry box for them. I want them out in the open where I can easily slip one on in the morning and run out the door. It must be easily accessible! I am not opposed to anything on the wall. Any ideas? (link)
Get a tie rack, and hang each watch off its own little arm. Alternately, you could put them on a towel rack, with the bands buckled around the bar.

Hope this helps.

I'm giving a presentation on rastafari (both culture and religion) and I need to make it as creative and interesting as possible! Other than dressing up like one, do you have any ideas that could make it cool?

It spoth an oral, and written assignment. For the written part I'm thinking of making a poster instead of just handing in a bunch of papers stapled together. But I have nothing cool in mind for the oral part - any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks :) (link)
I wouldn't recommend speaking in faux-Jamaican patois, as it is easy to do poorly and will just make you look silly. I'd emphasize the connections between the Rasta movement and Ethiopian independence from Italy, and bring in pictures of Haile Selassie (aka Ras Tafari), then relate Rasta to other Black Power movements and leaders (Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X, Nation of Islam, Black Panthers, etc.) As you no doubt know, Rasta isn't all reggae, ganja and dreadlocks. It's about living a clean life, being proud of your heritage, and fighting for justice.

Hope this helps.

Do any of you guys no of any stupid songs like
'Tip Toe Through The Tulips With Me' by tiny tim?
that song is the most hilarious song i've ever heard. and its catchy. if you know of any more, please answer! (link)
Oddly enough, that song originally was a big hit in the '20s. Tiny Tim's entire repertoire involved singing really old songs in that high falsetto. His speaking voice was really deep.

Anyway, check out "Fish Heads" by Barnes & Barnes, "Shaving Cream" by Benny Bell, and anything by Spike Jones, Tom Lehrer and Weird Al Yankovic. Heck, track down the various Dr. Demento CDs, and you'll get all sorts of stuff.

Hope this helps.

i am in 7 grade and am doing a science fair project on which yeast mixture rises the most ? i am so confused what to do isnt there only one kind of yeast? what do i have to for the experiment ? what do i do for the project ? where do i get yeast ? i hate cooking but my teacher wont change it . so what do i actually do for the whole projetc? can someone tell me what are the different kinds of yeats and actually tell me what yeast is and what should i do for the project ? is there any websites that arent long and boring about yeasts that i could look at that i wont fall asleep (link)
Okay, there are a lot of different types of yeasts. The stuff you get at the grocery store is bread yeast. There are other kinds of yeast used to make beer, wine, or even hard liquor. You can get these at any brewing supply store. (Most of them do mail-order, so if there isn't anything locally, you can just Google brewing supply.)

You'll need to talk to your teacher about the details of the project: you can do a simple one with bread yeast and molasses. Make solutions of water and molasses: one with 5 grams of molasses, one with 10 grams, and one with 15 grams. Put the mixtures in bottles (20 oz. soda bottles will work). Add the same amount of yeast to each one, then cover the neck of each bottle with a balloon. Let the bottles sit in a warm place, and see which balloon is biggest. Yeast eats sugar and produces alcohol and carbon dioxide. The more sugar the yeast has, the more CO2 it will produce. The only place it has to go is up into the balloon.

Again, work with your teacher to iron out the details.

Hope this helps.

By 2 weeks I have to pick a novel that is fictional, min. of 200 pages, and is appropreate for a catholic school.

Any suggestions or what you picked on your first year of highschool and was successful?

Btw, I'm a slow reader, if it narrows down your list. (link)
Hmmm... hard to go wrong with the classics. "Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley. "Call of the Wild" or "White Fang by Jack London. "Phantom of the Opera" by Gaston Leroux.

If you're a slow reader, you might want to check out a website called librivox.org. They're doing audio versions of public-domain books (the copyright has expired), free to download and use however you like. All the books I've listed above are there, and there are thousands of others. You may do better listening to the books rather than sitting there reading.

Hope this helps.

What are some acoustic rock songs I can play on guitar?

Thanks

"Jane Says" by Jane's Addiction. Two chords, half a step apart. Easy as it gets.

So im a vegiterian. I dont eat meat vegetables or fruits haha.Il be the first one to admit i eat really bad i usually only eat junkfood. But i cant stay awake anymore. I could go to bed at ten wake up at ten the next morning or 12 and still be so tired the whole day. Is there a disease where your always tired? i cant stay awake on weekends i always end up taking naps for two hours each day and still going to bed at normal time. I get home from school around 3 o' clock. im usually asleep by 3:30 and somtimes sleep till 7 but mostly 5:30. So any thing would help. Thanks alot! (link)
Sounds to me like you're just not getting the right food. If you just eat junk, your body can't function right, and no amount of sleep will compensate for that. Also, you'll have trouble thinking straight.

As has been mentioned, iron is a major nutrient that can be difficult to incorporate in a vegetarian diet. (There's a lot of iron in meat, particularly beef.) It's not the only source, though. Develop a taste for green leafy vegetables, especially collards, turnip greens and spinach. Also, cook in cast iron skillets; whatever you cook will absorb iron from them.

Protein is another nutrient you need, especially if you're still growing. You can get protein from beans combined with a grain like pasta, rice, corn or bulghur, from tofu, or from eggs and dairy if you eat those. (Be careful of unfermented soy products like soy milk or other soy proteins; some health problems have been linked to the high phytoestrogen levels. Fermented soy, like tofu, miso, soy sauce, et al, are fine.)

Essentially, try cleaning up your diet, eat more fruits, veggies, and beans (hummus is food of the gods) and see what that does for your energy levels.

Hope this helps.

Will God forgive you for everything you do even if its so so so bad you guys dont know how bad it was it was all my fault and I'm afraid God wont forgive me I really want to know if God forgives us for all of our sins and if he does is there such a place as hell? (link)
From a Christian perspective; yes, God forgives our sins, both the things we've done and the things we haven't done. Jesus died on the Cross as an expiatory sacrifice for all humanity, and God, in his infinite grace, allows us redemption. You do have to ask for it, though.

You can ask God for forgiveness through prayer. Some Christian denominations have the practice of confession or reconciliation with a priest or minister, some enforce a penance as well as confession. You may want to talk to someone you trust about what you did, and then try to make it right. You may not be able to make amends directly with whoever was hurt, but you may be able to balance things out in other ways. It is essential that you make peace with yourself ultimately, and you can do that by seeking forgiveness and making amends.

Hope this helps.

My daughter is in the third grade. We have been having problems the past few years getting her to do good work. Her grades are slipping farther and farther down.

We have tried to work with her with her studies. We have made notecards for her to study. We have also gone through everything with her. We have made flash cards to learn math. She just doesn't do the work at school.

I can't afford to take her to specialty "tutoring" schools. I have tried contacting the local school board about tutors that can help her with her studies. I have done everything imaginable to get her on the right track, but nothing seems to work.

My questions are: how do I help her to get her grades back up? How do I encourage her to do good at school? What could be motivators that could allow her to want to succeed? (link)
What worked for me was straight-out bribery. I was having problems in junior high, so my mom and I made a deal. For every 'A', I'd get a record (this sort of reveals my age). If I got an A in math (my worst subject) I got a record and a blank tape (I was big into mixtapes back then). I built up quite a collection of vinyl by the time I started high school.

You might want to try something like that, if her problems are simply motivational. There may be other reasons for her dropping grades, anything from learning disabilities to stress at school. I gotta tell ya, I had plenty of home and school stress plus a learning disability, and getting all those records was a big motivator for me.

Hope this helps.

ok well my oven is broke but the stove top isnt so thats all ive got to work with and im having my bf come over this weekend any ideas on what we can have for lunch cuz i have no idea :-/ (link)
How much of a cook are you? There's plenty you can do on a stovetop: stir-fries, curries, stews, soups, you name it. Here's a simple chicken curry, made with a prepackaged curry paste:

1 jar Patak's curry paste (they make all sorts, mild to hot - I like mild)
2-3 skinless boneless chicken breasts, or 3-4 chicken thighs, or a couple of chicken leg quarters, about 1 -1/2 lb of meat total.
1 onion
1 bell pepper
1 can coconut milk, or 1 cup plain yogurt
1 small can of tomato puree or diced tomatoes
2-3 tablespoons oil

Cut off the ends of the onion, remove the peel, and cut it half lengthwise, then into thin slices. Cut the bell pepper in slices lengthwise, then across into small pieces. Cut up the chicken into small pieces. If you're using chicken thighs or legs, leave them whole but remove the skin.

Heat the oil over moderate heat in a heavy pan or Dutch oven (do not use a non-stick pan, it won't work right)If the oil starts to smoke, it's too hot, take the pan off the heat. Add the onion and pepper, and stir them around until they start to get soft and change color. Add the chicken and 2 or 3 spoonfuls of the curry paste, and stir around until everything in the pan is coated in the spices. Keep moving the meat around until it is thoroughly browned, then add half the can of tomatoes. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. If you're using coconut milk, shake the can up and add half of it to the pan. If you're using yogurt, don't add it yet. Simmer the curry for about 20 minutes, until the chicken is completely cooked.

While this is going on, take 1 cup of long-grain rice, 1 3/4 cups of water, and a small pan. Put the rice and water in the pan and bring it to a full boil, then immediately drop the heat to simmer. Cook the rice gently for 20 minutes (don't peek) until the water is evaporated and the grains are soft.

Your curry should be done by now. If you used bone-in meat, the meat should be coming away from the bones a little bit and should come apart when poked with a fork. If you're using plain yogurt rather than coconut milk, take the meat out of the pan, take the pan off the heat and stir in the yogurt until everything is smooth. Then put the meat back in and serve it over the rice, with flour tortillas and some good tea. You can use lamb or turkey in place of the chicken.

Hope this helps.

what are the wiki's in the wiki page? For exapmle, theres wikipedia.com there's wikihow... what else? (link)
Wikipedia was designed as an open-source project; namely that anyone could contribute content or design elements. The basic software is also made freely available so that anyone can start up their own wiki projects, public or private. So anyone can set up a wiki page. Wikihow, tyvawiki, OLPC wiki, there's hundreds of them. The name isn't trademarked or under copyright, so it's freely used.

I need help ASAP.
I was talking to this guy for 3 months.
And it got kinda serious.
But he's like .. 3 yrs older than me.
So I knew it could never work.
But I very recently started dating my current boyfriend.
And when the kid i was talking to before found out, he flipped out.

Now he's on the phone saying "watch the news." He's had suicidal tendencies in the past and I know that's what he means.

And we're on the phone now and he's yelling at me. I don't think I could live with myself if he commited suicide because of me.

Advice on what to say/do? (link)
He, and only he, is responsible for his actions.

If he decides to do something stupid, it's his decision, and you bear no responsiblity for it.

If you're afraid he's going to kill himself right then, call the police.

None of this is your fault.

i think i might be Schizophrenic. Sometimes when i see something like a kitten, i cant help but to think "kill it!" or stupid stuff. it goes a lot worser then that like, stuff i dont actually feel, but i cant help to think about it. then i try and get rid of the thought but i cant. eventually it will go but it keeps popping into my mind. like my mind keeps thinking it, but i dont want to. like really sick thoughts. also, since a a few years ago, i develop stupid habits like shaking my head, heavy breathes, twitching. if i dont do these things sometimes, its like the feeling you get when you hold your breath for about 5 seconds, you just have to breath, or in my case, twitch etc. Sometimes i can go without doing it, when i dont think about it, but when i do, i have to do it.
Also, sometimes i hear stuff, like high frequency beeps, while im in bed. i normally cant get to bed and lie there for an hour before i do, and during that time is when i hear it.

im just wonderin, is it Schizophrenia? or anything else? (link)
This may be related to a certain extent to puberty, but I wouldn't bet on it. Schizophrenia is a degenerative brain disease, and it is treatable. If you're having auditory hallucinations and getting obsessive/compulsive behaviors, your best bet would be to talk to your parents and your doctor for an assessment. It's best to catch these things early.

im lookin for cute, simple, quirky quotes about dealing with life. things such as "just roll with the punches" or "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade", but ones that arent so common, and more original. (link)
"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro."
-Hunter S. Thompson

"The large print giveth, and the small print taketh away."
-Tom Waits

"Life is like a box of chocolate. Cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolate. So you’re stuck with this un - definable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down till there’s nothing left to eat. Sure once in a while there’s a peanut butter cup, or an English toffee, but they’re gone too fast and taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits filled with hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. And if you’re desperate enough to eat those all you’re left with is an empty box filled with useless brown paper wrappers."
-Cigarette Smoking Man, X-Files

At my school we have this american idol sorta thing. I am having trouble finding a song. I need a really good song, rangeing from the 60's till now in days that would fit my voice. My voice is almost identical to Amy Lee from evanence[sorry for spelling errors] and i can sing Chritina Agularas style well also. I am 16, and would really appreciate your help!! (link)
Check out old R&B stuff by Etta James: Etta is one of Christina Aguilera's musical heroes and provides much of her vocal inspirations.

Also check out Bjork: she's decidedly weird, but her stuff is very challenging vocally (she's one of Amy Lee's heroes as well). You might want to consider "Hyper-ballad" or "Big Time Sensuality" in particular.

"Somebody to Love" by Queen will work for a female voice with a big range; the original vocals fo from a high falsetto to a baritone.

Hope this helps.

No, not on the playground.

Before my husband and I were married (we are going on 9 years now), we had a very different relationship. We had been together in high school, then apart for 3 years. During that time, I discovered a sexual side of myself that I loved. When we got back together, I made sure he knew that part of me. He loved it too. I'm a bisexual submissive and he knew how to dominate me. On occasion, we would play with others. He'd let other people whip or spank me with no issues. We toyed with another young woman. Then, we got married and had a baby (he's 8 now)and it all seems to have gone away. And it wasn't gradual either. I got depressed, and still am. I think a lot of it has to do with feeling like I have to suppress who I am because of the way things have changed.
I've been working on getting past my depression. That led to finding what I need/want. I want at least a bit of our old relationship back. And that includes involving others. I love the feeling of him being in control, even when someone else is with me.
I want to try swinging, even just once to see if it is really what I want. How do I bring this up to DH without causing a problem? It isn't that I feel he is inadequate, but I am afraid it will sound like I do. Also, if he does take to the idea, what would be the next step? I don't have anyone in mind. How would I find a good couple to be with?
*Note - If you would say that I should not be considering this at all 'cause I'm married, or that I am wrong for being bisexual, please don't answer. That doesn't answer my question at all and will get a low rating as a result. (link)
A question: what is the more thrilling, being with someone aside from your husband, or having your husband control you? For someone of my acquaintance, the big thrill was thinking of herself as completely her husband's posession, someone that he could loan out like a plaything.

Has your sex life gone completely vanilla, or are you still playing games? You might want to arrange a 'fun and games' weekend - ship your son off to Camp Grandma, unpack the toys and the Depeche Mode CDs, and have some fun. I bet he misses the old days too.

On the subject of threesomes/ polyamory, that can be a bit more touchy. Does he consider your old life something that responsible married people don't do? Is he afraid your son will find out and misunderstand? Is he afraid you'll leave him for someone else? This is all stuff that you both would have to address. Obviously, you both deserve to have a satisfying sex life, but not at the expense of the other's needs. I'd arrange the fun and games weekend before the big talk, just to give him a taste of what he gave up.

Hope this helps.
