How to keep period blood of of underwear

Question Posted Saturday July 27 2013, 12:20 am

I'm13 years old so I can't use tampons yet, and whenever I use a pad, it always leaks after like five minutes. What other methods are there. Also, what is the best way toget blood stains out of my underwear? Thank you!

Yes, you probably have a heavier flow than other girls. That is completely normal too. Try wearing more absorbant pads; shouldn't be leaking anymore.

Ehh, you probably have a really heavy flow OR you aren't using the correct size for a pad. You should get a pad that is more suitable for heavy flows.
If you have a heavy flow, you should schedule an appointment with your doctor to discuss it because you would be losing a lot of blood for an age like 13.

I am not sure why you can't wear tampons unless you've heard something about the toxic shock syndrome. As far as I know, it's not about the age but the person leaving it in too long. So are 13 year olds more susceptible? Perhaps the argument is that they may be more forgetful or too embarassed to get to know their cycle and be comfortable with whatever is entailed in use of menstrual products and proper hygiene.
There are alternative products as you will see in the video link I post below. Before you watch it, most of it either entails being comfortable with getting your fingers inside of yourself, or not being squeamish about getting your own blood on your fingers. The sooner you can get comfortable with that, the easier times you have and of course more options open to you.
You may also want to watch all the other sex positive videos by this gal as the schools no longer have sex ed or a poor version of it. You owe it to yourself to get self taught on some of the stuff thats up ahead for you including dating and relationships. Check your laundry detergent aisle. Some stores will carry expensive tiny bottles that are specific for just one kind of stain, like one for blood. Or you can soak the underwear in a sink with ammonia, or hydrogen peroxide. The article on that says not to rub the cloth or the blook might get worked into the fabric worse. Sometimes just the soaking wasnt enough so I used my fingers to rub the panties between as I rinsed with water. I will post this article too. Good luck dear.

Soap and hot water will get it out

If you are leaking through, You want to invest in thicker pads. Try using overnight pads, buy the ones with the wings. Also, Tampons are useless (in my opinion) if your a heavy bleeder then it's best to use pads.

This is a discussion you should really be having with you mom, especially if she is the one purchasing your pads for you. Yes, I know you feel it would be embarrassing to have this discussion with mom. You think that your period and sex are synonymous. They are not. For a woman a period is just another bodily function to deal with such as bathroom functions.

Your period is a bodily function of women. Your mom is a woman who has had to deal with a period for quite some time. Mom may not realize just how heavy your period is and is purchasing the wrong pads for you, or you are not purchasing the correct pads if you buy your own. Either way your mom is your best source of information concerning this or anything else about your reproductive system.

Next year when your 14 you can add your gynecologist to that list as by law you will legally be able to see any doctor you chose to about reproductive questions or problems with or without parental permission, in total medical confidence. Meaning your parents cannot know why or what you have been seen for or treated without your written permission. This law is called HIPPA. Look it up.

Just for your information. I may be a male and you may feel I don't or should not have the information you need. Any man who has been married for any period of time becomes very familiar with a woman's period. I have been married for 42 years and there is very little I don't know on this subject and how a woman needs to properly care for herself. Fact is your father is probably also knowledgeable and another resource available to you.
