Confused about my height.

Question Posted Tuesday January 3 2012, 3:44 pm

Hi there so I am 18/F
So I have a lot of guy friends and a few girl friends, most of which are short, except my best friend who is 6", I however am 5"9 and I feel soooo tall, I look at my girl friends who are 5"5 or 5"6 and they get a lot of guys, I get guys and everything, but for some reason I look at my girl friends and I feel freakishly tall and weird, I am skinny, I eat a lot but I don't gain weight, I weigh about 130, I just don't understand why I feel so ugly around my friends, is there anything wrong with being this tall, I feel so insecure when I go out with them. Why is it that tall girls aren't as pretty as short girls?

You aren't the only one! My friends are all around 5'6, I'm 16 and 5'10! I have the same thing with being skinny and eating but not putting weight on, I'm 58kg.
I dispise being so tall and love when I see posts like yours and seeing I'm not the only one!
My advise is to look and feel confident with it, it'll make you appear and feel more attractive. (:
All my friends are jel of my height.

I am 5"3 and always wish I had longer legs. Most people are much taller than me. There are a lot of guys that love long legs and there are others that prefer being taller. We always want what we don't have but you are just as beautiful for being tall as you are short, you have just as much chance at anything you desire. I could never be a model because of my height, I would have a disadvantage at a lot of sports. I'm sure there are as many disadvantages being tall. I am big busted - I get a lot of envy over my bust, but the truth is, there are a lot of pretty, slinky clothes that I cannot wear because I am not adverge in my proportion - you are very luck to stay slim whilst eating lots. I love food but I've been trying so hard to lose weight over the past few moths it's just miserable & nothing seems to shift it. However I know people who hate being skinning and equally - there are guys who are drawn to slender girls & won't touch girls a with any more flesh on them than Keira Knightly & there are guys who prefer curves who won't look at anything less. Though the best ones don't care too much if they're attracted to you for who you are. Learn to appreciate the things you have, there are many pros for being tall & thin - let people see you love being who you are and they'll love you for it. Good luck

I'm kinda tall too (not insanely but a little taller than most of my friends, im in my low teenage years) I love my height though! trust me, tall people are envied. think about it, most models are tall and they are beautiful. Everyone is different, you just have to learn to love your body and yourself for who you are.

'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder'

Tall girls aren't as pretty as short girls? Who told you that? That statement is false, my dear. I had a problem like this myself when I was your age. My girlfriends were all shorter than I and I was the giant of the group. It was said that the short girls were cuter. Did you ever think though that we tall girls got the legs? That's right we got the legs and we walk faster!
It doesn't mean that if you're shorter you get more guys, unless there is a study I don't know about. That statement is false. It's about how you are as a person not what you look like that gets you a guy. If you are a person who treats people kindly then that's the person you should be. STOP worrying about height because it doesn't matter nor does it make a difference. Love your height and love being taller than your friends because that's what makes you stand out!

I'm short and I'd love to add several inches to my height! As humans we're never satisfied.
I don't think height comes into attraction at all. I think the main components of attraction are interest in the person you're talking to,eye contact, a smile and a sense of humour. It's definitely more attractive to see a snile than a frown, whatever your height.
Hope this helps, let me know how you get on? Good luck.

I am 17/F and I am also skinny, and also do not gain weight when i eat. But I weigh 110. I'm 5'8 and I would actually like to be 5'10. Being tall is a good thing, and has nothing to do with your beauty or how many guys you get or any of that. You aren't freakishly tall or weird for that. Enjoy the height because on the plus size you probably have long legs, which a lot of girls would die for, and you could be model (: Don't think of yourself as bad because your tall or for any other matter. Your beautiful just the way you are. (:

I used to be friends with this gorgeous girl who was already 5"9 at 13 or 14. She always got all the guys. I'm super short and for awhile, I always thought the exact opposite of you. I've learned that for the most part, height doesn't matter. You should be yourself and let your personality shine. I'm sure that if you're more confident about yourself, you'll feel tons better. Hope I helped :)

I feel as if I wrote this myself :)I went exactly what you went through. I was 5'9 at fourteen and had a lot of trouble getting to the point where I loved my height. There is a bunch of advantages to being tall. One of them is when going through the time of growth, it slims you down and you get to eat more than average girls. That's a reason why you're skinny and you should appreciate being able to eat a little more than your friends, specially with all the amazing food there is out there. ;) Here's one thing I read the other day that made me feel amazing. Did you know the average height of a model is 5'11? That is why so many girls strive to grow more, or go around uncomfortably wearing huge heels. You we're blessed with having all this to begin with, and that means you can go around proudly showing off your height. Something else that might help you embrace your height would be finding a hobby that will make you love your height. I started playing volleyball at thirteen and am now the best on my team. All my teammates always tell me how envious they are of my height because I can spike like no one else on the team- and I owe it all to God for making me 5'9. So Good Luck, and remember also that being tall is considered 'sexy' in society.
- Millie :)
