Have I given out too much information to this online friend?
I know it seems stupid as I'm about to give an example of the type of info here, but this place is different.
Anyway, she just knows my age and gender, what country I live in, that I have a weak stomach, and that I like art and music. There's lots of people like that, right?
I know I'm likely worried over absolutely nothing, I'm just a pretty paranoid person about online friends. It has been pounded into my head that it's "better safe than sorry."
Feel free to flame and call me an idiot, don't even feel bad about it. I just feel kind of nervous..

If you feel uncomfortable with the amount of information that you have given this person then I suggest cutting off your contact with them. It's totally understandable for you to feel nervous when we've been told not to give out our personal information. Just do what feels right.

if you know this person personally then sure its okay to give them this info about you. but if this just some stranger that you randomly started talking to many you shouldn't of given them all that info. you never know what type of people out there and what there capable of. all i'm trying to say is be careful!

To be honest thats not too much information .. To much information will be like if you tell her your street address or tell her your phone nummber or something similar to that .. And plus like you said there are lot's of people maybe are like that . So my advice is to don't go overboard about telling her too much information about you and you haven't been giving too much information to your friend. P.S. Good Luck to you for your online friend ! As long as this person does not have your Email address, that you communicated through chat rooms . I would say you have nothing to worry about.
The information you gave as an example is the type of information one would show on a facebook page. Facebook even has a place for your home town and people use their real names on facebook. You have supplied by your example far less information then would be found on facebook or any of the social network pages.
I would think you have nothing to worry about. In the future though, know who you are chatting with before you give out any intimate details about yourself.

If you didn't give this person your exact or approximate location then you are safe. Did you give our your name? Assuming you didn't then nothing to worry about.
It is hard to pin point Waldo in a world of a billion people. Basically, This person doesn't have basic information.
If it makes you nervous, Then next time don't say anything. There are way to many creeps on the internet, Almost every 1-5 people.
