i am 13 years old, i want to get my cartdilage peirced on both ears, my mom will let me. But does she legally have to be with me? Can if i wanted to go to the mall with my friends and get it peirced there, with just them there? Do i need parent consent? Because i know u need parent consent to get your tragus peirced.

If your going to claire's or the peircing pagoda look up there number and ask if you need to bring a parent. If you have someone that's 18 or older and they bring you, it should be fine..but i'd call to make sure first.I hope this helps:)rate me youd like! At age 13 a Law called HIPPA kicks in to protect your medical privacy . In short the law says your doctors can only release information when they have your written consent and only to those you have consented to.
Suggestion for the piercing: Ask mom to go to the mall with you and your friends. Have her give her permission as to what she will approve and then ask her to leave you ad your friends alone while you select the jewelry and get the piercing.
Don't worry about your friends thinking less of you. If they are pierced they had it done either at a much younger age or had to have a parent with them too. [ adviceman49's advice column | Ask adviceman49 A Question ]

The only way to NOT do it this way is to go to a shadier place that won't ID you. I don't know where you live, but an example of this would be Chinatown, St.Marks, etc. True, going to a place like this will be cheaper and faster, but I wouldn't recommend it.
I got my industrial pierced in a place like that in St.Mark's. Not because I was underage (I was exactly 18), but because I wanted to pay as little as possible. Bad idea. I have sensitive skin, so I soon got an ear infection caused by the material the barbell was made out of.

Xui answered Thursday January 20 2011, 7:25 pm: You will need a guardian there with you, As most places you have to be of age 18 to receive piercings on your own.
Just like getting a tattoo or even a piercing at a tattoo parlor, You can't just walk in and get it done. They ID you to make sure you are the legal age as well as asking for your signature. No, They cannot get the "OK" from your friends they need a parents permission as you are a minor.
As I have in the past worked for a tattoo parlor, It is our rule and policy to check all ID's to those who walk in we copy your ID and ask for signature. False ID's can lead to being sued from the company. Again, You will need your parents there with you. [ Xui's advice column | Ask Xui A Question ]
