A yeast infection is only an unbalence of bacteria in your vagina. A good preventative measure is eating yogurt. The cultures used in yogurt help to balance the levels. All though one time I told someone that yogurt would help, but I forgot to tell her to eat it. You can imagine my surprise when she told me the yogurt remedy didn't work. Yeast infections are usually caused by wearing damp panties, like when you go swimming and your bottoms don't dry fast enough. They can also be caused by taking antibiotics, which kill the healthy bacteria in your vagina, as well as the bacteria that is making you sick. Another good way to keep your vagina healthy is clitoral masturbation. When you have an orgasm it is just like giving your vagina a bath. Don't bother to try douches or other products, they don't work as good, and they certainly aren't as much fun. Usually, the yeast infection can go away on it's own, but if it doesn't start to get better in a week you should try medication. Like anything else, your body gets used to fighting off it's own illnesses, and if you allow it to run it's course it will be all the more able to fight it off the next time. I'm pretty sure if I had yeast growing on me I'd have a doctor look at it.... sorry, I just thought of the primus CD title "sailing the seas of cheese" god, I'm sorry... go hit up the drug store, vagisil or something....

christina answered Wednesday June 10 2009, 11:12 am: They can, but they really shouldn't be left untreated.
karenR answered Wednesday June 10 2009, 7:21 am: They can. You can try an over the counter product or they sometimes will go away when you start your period (this raises the PH balance).
They can also be very painful in the meantime. If you have a lot of pain, or if it doesn't go away soon you will need to see your doctor. [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
