You should be fine as soon as you're 17, as long as he is no more than 2 years older. Breaking the law can come with serious punishments, especially for your guy. It's a pretty big charge if he gets caught having sex with a minor. But honestly, many minors have illegal sex with older guys and nothing is wrong with that as long as it's someone you really like and you don't get caught! I suggest you keep it in your home and don't do it in public. Atleast not until your 17! Everything comes with risks, and if you do decide to have sex with him just be ready for that, and be very responsible and safe! [ MiissAnonymous's advice column | Ask MiissAnonymous A Question ]

Darby answered Tuesday June 2 2009, 6:52 pm: From what I can find, the legal age of consent in New York is seventeen. That means that until August, it is illegal for you and your boyfriend to have sex.
Here are a couple sites with the legal age of consent in each states within the United States and explanations of the law:
Pretty much, if you're under the age of 17 in the state of New York, you are not able to give consent to sexual relations because you are not able to make that decision at any age 16 or younger.
solidadvice4teens answered Tuesday June 2 2009, 5:19 pm: My research states that 16 is the average age legally of consent to sex. Based on that you should be fine legally. It's less than two years difference. The only way to get in trouble is if you get pregnant or your parents find out you're sexually active with him and want him charged. Aside from that I wouldn't worry. [ solidadvice4teens's advice column | Ask solidadvice4teens A Question ]
