definitely someone that's easy to talk to, which is a nice GENUINE person who listens. remember that.
trust me, ive learned this by telling the wrong people things i shouldnt have, and by that-- just keep in mind that a trustful person needs to truely be genuine(which should come along with trying to be a good listener)..ive dealt with a lot of "fakes"

In a nutshell, for someone to be easy to trust and open up to, they have to be nonjudgmental above all things. You should be able to tell them anything and have them listen actively and accept your thoughts, even if theirs differ. In addition, yes, it takes time for trust to bloom.
Until two people get to know each other, and take some risks in conversation, they won't know for sure that the trust can happen, or that they're allowed to open up to each other. Trust must be proven and earned.

i just wanted to add to the answer below me that it takes time, and if you want to earn someone's trust, you need to be patient.

Well for starters, you have to be friends with them, to trust them. Perfect strangers aren't those who should be trusted, yuh know? :]
1. they're your close friend.
2. they are easy to talk to.
3. you can be yourself around them.
4. you're not afraid to say something stupid or ignorant around them.
5. they are friendly and kind.
6. they will tell you if your wrong, but support you or give you other options.
7. they help you when you need advice.
8. they have a positive attitude and you don't hear bad things about them.
9. they prove to you that they won't tell anyone what you say and that you can trust them.
It's mainly all about the person and how they act. If they are nice but totally backstabbing, then whatever, don't tell them anything personal. If you get into fights with the people you "trust" often because of something that was said or done, then you shouldn't trust them either because the ones you trust shouldn't be getting into fights with you. You also know that they have your back no matter what, in whatever situation, while some people won't. They will turn on you in 2 seconds flat. you just have to be careful and feel comfortable with the one you "trust".
Hope I helped ! good luck and if you have any other questions, feel free to inbox me :] xxo.
