I miss it...

Question Posted Monday September 15 2008, 11:59 am

I made a mistake and started smoking just before I turned 14...but I gave up after about 7 months of smoking. Stupid I know, but I gave up :]
Now I'm constantly thinking about it and I tend to miss it.
What are some things or whatever I could do to stop thinking about it.
I'm not going to start again, I don't want to...but I need to stop thinking about it and I don't want to miss it.

15/f
Please no lecturing on how bad it is for you. I know, I made a mistake. Also thinking ''It's bad for you'' doesn't stop me from missing it.

So yeah.
Sorry if this is confusing.

If you find yourself thinking about it, just remind yourself of how disgusting it really is.

Try and remember how it made you smell and turned your teeth and nails yellow.

If you begin to associate something your mind believes is good with something bad, it will be much easier to give it up for good.

I know this sounds stupid but the more you think about it, the more you will think about it. Try reading a book. There is this scripture in the bible that warns us to "take every thought captive" That means to grab it and throw it out. Resolve to refuse to think about it!

okay, well, try to get into some activity that will take up most of your day, taking your mind off of smoking. like.. try a sport, club, hanging with friends that DONT smoke, running [but dont over run].

every time you want a ciggerette, go for a fruit. if you go for sugar / fatty foods youll just get addicted to those and that wont be good :]

good luck & this helped my mom stop smoking!

One word. Gobstoppers.

Whenever you feel a need for a cig, have a gobstopper.

Maybe you can try hanging out with people that don't smoke. it may take your mind off of it and you could try to replace it with something. it could be candy or a certain kind of food, something on that line that would interests you more than smoking.
