I like to consider myself a religious person. But sometimes it's hard. My question is specifically what are some things I should be praying about? I mean, I don't like to pray about the same things over and over, though I do. Should I be praying for better questions on Advicenators? ;]
If you pray, what are things you find yourself praying about so that it's not always the same thing each time?
Why do we pray? It helps in two ways - firstly it changes us, and secondly God answers our petitions.
It changes us. It helps us come to know who we really are and what God's plan for our life is. The prayer we all need is 'make me a saint'. PRAYER IS SO MUCH MORE THAN WHAT WE SAY - IT IS A STATE OF BEING IN RELATIONSHIP TO GOD. Just. Pray. Anything. God knows what we need anyway, trust in Him. Through prayer, God gives us grace to pray better - the holy spirit can pray for us.
Listen in your prayer life. spend time in silence. reflect on a bible reading occasionally. Allow God to talk back - make it a conversation.
But prayer for others and ourselves is important and powerful. It says to God 'look I know i need you, you rock, i trust you - make this better please'. It allows you to open yourself to God's will in that situation and God can work through you. Things to pray about;
- for unity of christians
- for those you know who have died. for their family and friends too
- for those sick at your local hospital
- for those suffering for loving Christ
-for your friends who don't know JEsus
- for those who have stopped beleiving
- for your cat who is dribbling alot
- for the government to make decisions for the greater good and glory of God
- that you can get through school/work
- that you may overcome sins which you struggle with
- for your parents and family
- for the pope
- for all religious leaders
- for the homeless and poor
- for those unemployed
- for those who work in factories
- for marriages to be fruitful
- to find your lost phone
- to know whether God wants you to go out with the girl next door.
AND SO ON. [ whynobeards's advice column | Ask whynobeards A Question ]

pseudophun answered Thursday October 9 2008, 2:11 pm: As a rule of thumb, pray about things that are important to you. It's great to pray over world hunger, but God knows about that. What can he do to affect YOUR life? How can he help you and those you care about? That is what you should bother God with: things that you sincerely care about.
blublue24 answered Saturday September 13 2008, 1:15 am: Hi there! ^^
Normally I usually pray about just hoping to have a good day at high school, for tests, games I go to, and friends. I let out all of my emotions and let them do the talking with God because it's when I open up and just say anything that's weighing me down or troubling me. This may sound weird but sometimes I randomly just talk about...random stuff! :p Kind of like, how my day went, what books I've read, or how many squirrels I saw on the road (alive ones by the way!) today~
Prayer is a way of communicating, so in a way, just say anything that would lift your spirits up!
And then I fall asleep, cause usually I say prayers mostly before I head for bed.
whyarewesoinsane answered Monday September 1 2008, 11:33 pm: You shouldn't feel like you have to pray or that God is judging you. If you feel the need to pray (which doesn't have to be everyday) then pray. Praying isn't something that you have to do every night before you go to be.
When something is waying heavily on your heart and you need to talk about it, and feel like you aren't alone in dealing with it, talk to god about it.
Otherwise you don't have to pray. God is always there listening, and he doesn't mind if you repeat yourself, but, in my opinion, he does want you to really care about the things you talk to him about.
Do you know what I mean?
Hope that was helpful. [ whyarewesoinsane's advice column | Ask whyarewesoinsane A Question ]
dancerbabe24 answered Monday September 1 2008, 8:50 pm: some times i pray about the same things if they are serious or really need to be prayed about, like before my grandfather died i prayed a lot that no matter what he would be okay, but for the most part anything thats going wrong
if a friend had a bad day ill pray for them that night or if there are family problems or something
just pray about what comes to your heart
it may not come natural at first but after a while you will just pray about things that come to you
i hope i helped :)
