Hey =].
I like to consider myself a religious person. But sometimes it's hard. My question is specifically what are some things I should be praying about? I mean, I don't like to pray about the same things over and over, though I do. Should I be praying for better questions on Advicenators? ;]
If you pray, what are things you find yourself praying about so that it's not always the same thing each time? (link)

Prayer is awesome by itself.
Why do we pray? It helps in two ways - firstly it changes us, and secondly God answers our petitions.
It changes us. It helps us come to know who we really are and what God's plan for our life is. The prayer we all need is 'make me a saint'. PRAYER IS SO MUCH MORE THAN WHAT WE SAY - IT IS A STATE OF BEING IN RELATIONSHIP TO GOD. Just. Pray. Anything. God knows what we need anyway, trust in Him. Through prayer, God gives us grace to pray better - the holy spirit can pray for us.
Listen in your prayer life. spend time in silence. reflect on a bible reading occasionally. Allow God to talk back - make it a conversation.
But prayer for others and ourselves is important and powerful. It says to God 'look I know i need you, you rock, i trust you - make this better please'. It allows you to open yourself to God's will in that situation and God can work through you. Things to pray about;
- for unity of christians
- for those you know who have died. for their family and friends too
- for those sick at your local hospital
- for those suffering for loving Christ
-for your friends who don't know JEsus
- for those who have stopped beleiving
- for your cat who is dribbling alot
- for the government to make decisions for the greater good and glory of God
- that you can get through school/work
- that you may overcome sins which you struggle with
- for your parents and family
- for the pope
- for all religious leaders
- for the homeless and poor
- for those unemployed
- for those who work in factories
- for marriages to be fruitful
- to find your lost phone
- to know whether God wants you to go out with the girl next door.
AND SO ON.

okay so ive been with my boyfriend for a year now and i always think about sex but im scared that if i lose my virginity before marriage then i will go to hell.. is that true? btw im roman catholic (link)

Absolutely not. But don't stop reading!
Holy Mother Church teaches that sex before marriage is a serious sin - indeed it separates you from God to such an extent that unless you are truly sorry for it (and go to confession) you cannot attain Heaven - you risk Hell.
This isn't because Catholics are against sex - no, the church teaches that sex is awesome. It is an expression of love, in which each partner gives themselves entirely to each other. How can you give yourself to another without commitment? How much is saying yes to sex worth if you just say it to anyone? Why do you want to have sex - if its for selfish reasons then what harm might this do to you?
Another issue is that sex makes babies. Are you ready to look after a child; if not sex and marriage isn't for you yet!
Pray and trust in our Lord and Savior - Jesus Christ!

soo i'm kinda stuck. I'm not really sure how to explain this. I'm considered catholic. But at the same time, i'm not really sure if I believe in catholicism. My family and I celebrate catholic holidays like christmas and easter. Its a tradition blah blah blah but i'm not like super religious about it. I don't go to church. like ever. the last time i went to church was maybe 7 years ago for christmas. My friends talk about the bible, about mary and jesus and his disciples. But in all honesty... It makes no sense to me. I really have no idea how to explain this haha. I believe in it.. but not that much. Like I believe there is a god, and there was a jesus. But i'm not like super duper religious, like I don't read the bible. I don't think I have ever read anything from the bible haha.
anyways.. I'm at the point in my life where a lot of bad stuff is happening. A lot of drama and stress. One of my friends told me to pray and become more religious. She said that I should go to church more often and confide in a priest and confess my sins. She says this will make me a happier person. (I am almost at rock bottom in my life right now)
Part of me believes that I should pray and confess my sins etc. But part of me believes that this will make no effect at all. I've tried praying before.. I really have. many and multiple times. I tried praying so hard, outloud and in my head. But the thing is... nothing ever changes. I dont understand how some people can pray and then things magically change for them. But how come when I pray, nothing changes???
gah i'm just so confused! I'm catholic and believe in god and jesus. But not overly religious. Why does nothing change for me when I try to pray? I just need some religious advice please! (link)

Hello there mate,
we are all at different stages in our Faith. Okay, so perhaps you don't feel you are really religious (I hate that word - too many negative connotations about recluse, narrow-minded holier-than-thou weirdos); but Catholics believe in a personal God who loves you. Prayer is a real means of changing the world - but in the end it changes you! Through prayer you see yourself better, and see how God is part of this world too. You understand the world and you can handle it. God gives you strength to get through each day, not worrying about today for tomorrow has its own worries! Even in a non-relgious way, pray allows one to evaluate their life and make resolutions to change - how much moreso when the Holy Spirit is moving through you in prayer.
We are all called to become saints - answer that call dude!
Perhaps ask Mary, Jesus' mum to pray for you, or your guardian angel. Maybe try and go to a church during the week when it is quieter and see what happens - talk to a priest if you want. Your friends seem to be there to help you along too.
Don't be afraid to let God change you, so he can change the world through you.
God allows suffering, but does not cause it. BUT He allows good to flow from it - whatever doesnt kill you makes you stronger, etc.. Put your trust in him, pray and listen to him. spend time reading the bible to hear what he says to you!!
