what can I do with 8 and 9 year olds

Question Posted Tuesday August 5 2008, 12:12 am

Ok, sooo I babysit two little girls and they are 8 and 9 years old. I'm 14 and they always ask me to bring something fun for them to do. And I don't have things they would like anymore considering I'm 14 !!! Then I always ask them what the wanna do, and they say idk, or ugh I'm sooo bored!!!!

So, any tips on what I can do with them or bring for them to play with????

I suggest the website called The Sitter's Weekly.

It's a free online guide to babysitting - includes advertising advice, babysitting rates, flyer ideas, how to handle the children, etc.

It's located at [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

They have a book cause the children busy book by Trish kuffner. It has lots of different arts and crafts for you to do. It is also age appropriate. Try also bring playing cards to play gold fish, or even uno would work.

considering their age
a fun thing for you and them to do is to take them to the park and play.
if that dosen't work even though your'e 14 try doing something that you did when you were their age. and just have fun
tust me it works.

they usually love something like that, but you have to get involved too.

You could bring movies, make arts and crafts stuff. You could put on a play, and then show their parents when they are done. Hope this helps!

That small age group from like 7-10 is the hardest to find things for! I help my friend babysit sometimes, and kids like Tag! But as a teenager, you're probably faster. So to add a little spice to the game, let them chase you around with sticks! It helps to get a friend too!

And what kid doesn't like making projects?! Something messy like chalk drawings or paints. I'm kinda shy around kids, and I dunno if it's just because I'm a guy, but I like to be creative, and Amanda usually finds ways to throw the idea out there.

Another fun thing is playing pretend! It sometimes wears the kids out and it gets them to think a little bit more! Pretend was always the most dominant thing for me and my cousins when I was little.

You'll have to pardon the rant, it's late at night and I'm tired and in a ranting mood.

Hope I helped out some!
Brandon

Well, I have a 8 year old sister. And she always likes to color. She also likes to dance to her favorite songs. So you could do that. You can bring their favorite movies, play their favorite game, have a little scavenger hunt, or maybe you can have arts & crafts time.
