Well, this is how my biology teacher explained this to us last year:
If you are a smoker, first hand is worse. If you are a nonsmoker, and don't plan to smoke, second hand is still bad because you're lungs are so fresh and new to it that you haven't developed "immunity" (but not really immunity, if you know what I mean. Usually when a someone smokes a cigarette for the first time it irritates the throat and lungs causing them to cough, yet people that have been smoking for a while don't experience this (but they most certainly will in the future if they don't quit smoking).
Second hand smoke is more diluted however and will cause less damage. I still suggest holding your breath around smoking persons when you can though =)

First hand smoking is definitely worse than second hand, but consequences still come of being around second hand smoke. Just a few would be the obvious lung cancer, smelling icky, worse complexion, and probably tons more things.
It's probably even possible to develope that cough some smokers get. Not fun, at all.

No.
Second hand smoke is basically inhaling a much smaller concentration of smoke than the person actually smoking, plus the person smoking's lungs have already absorbed alot of the cancer causing materials and tar.
Second hand smoke is mostly harmless compared to a smoking habit. Lets say smoking half a pack a day would give you cancer by 75, lets say second hand smoke from half a pack smoked in your presence every day would give you cancer by 150-200 years old. ]
first hand is a lot worse ]
