Adam and Eve were white right..? Then how did chinese/mexican/etc. people get here? And Adam and Eve didn't have any daughters..so did Cane and Able do it with their mom to keep the population growing?!
"And the days of Adam after he begot Seth were eight hundred years; and he begot sons and daughters." - Genesis 5:4 (JPS)
The Tanakh is one of the most revered symbols of Jewish culture, so ridiculing it on the basis of a falsehood is so Nazi. Why has this slur been allowed to remain here for 8 years?
The use of "incest" to indicate intrafamilial marriage in times and locations where it was accepted - as some have in their answers - is also culturally intolerant of the family the Tanakh identifies as the ancestors of the Jews: Abraham, who married his half-sister; Isaac, who married his cousin; Lot, who married his niece, etc.
footballchick2 answered Sunday February 3 2008, 4:34 pm: Adam and Eve aren't real. I mean, yeah, there were the first people ever made, but the whole story with the snake and the apple is supposed to represent sin and what not. I'm not too clear on how people got here, but from a religious point, God created people. Adam and Eve isn't real, so you can't question how other people came into the world, because no one knows exactly what race the first people were. You're taking the bible very literally, because a lot of the stories aren't supposed to be take that way. It didn't take God 7 days to make anything and everything, but it all represents something. asknava answered Wednesday January 16 2008, 7:11 pm: I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY THAT I AM REALLY PROUD! I AM REALLY PROUD OF THE WAY ALL OF YOU HAVE ANSWERED THIS PERSON'S QUESTION. WE HAVE COME A LONG BEAUTIFUL WAY IN SOCIETY.
WOW:
Adam and Eve hahah are so symbolic. There is like nothing else to say dude. They covered it. I just wanted to add my support. I think that what you learned here, you need to take it and run with it. I would do some research and find out what people believed before people started painting pictures of white Gods. White Gods aren't bad or not true, but the truth is, is that there is sooooo much more. I think that if you invest time into studying this stuff you will feel very fulfilled. LordHumperdink answered Thursday January 3 2008, 9:47 pm: adam and eve where teh first people ever made
they were not white, they are simply portrayed as white in most european artwork since europeans liked to paint everything pale white (even the middle-eastern jesus). They were not real.
they are a metaphor (see other responses) [ LordHumperdink's advice column | Ask LordHumperdink A Question ]
iiloveyou answered Tuesday January 1 2008, 7:02 pm: Oh gosh! I asked this question last year in History class and everyone laughed at me. But besides all the fables and different takes on the Bible, I will explain to you what I have learned in class.
Africans obtained their dark skin tone because the heat was so strong in Africa, and their skin is thick to block out the sun. Anyway, the sunlight apparently was so strong that over the years through the generations their skin tones just kept getting darker!
As for Asians, I have learned that because of the winds from the sand, their eyes took on the shape more slit-like than wide-eyed, in order to block out the sand winds. And of course, after reproducing for so many years, the Asian persuasion flourished with their eyes in the form of slits.
Mexicans and Alaskans and Caribbeans all have the same hair and skin tones, did you ever realize that? Neither did I until last year. They all came from the same areas with the same conditions, and then moved to their current places where they live now. Just like the Africans and Asians, because of weathering conditions, their bodies and faces changed in order to live comfortably in their climates.

Ignatz answered Monday December 31 2007, 5:47 pm: Okay. Biblical literalism strikes again. Genesis is not intended to be taken as literal history. The stories of the Creation and the subsequent events are intended to explain certain aspects of Israelite culture, religion, and cosmology. If you examine the stories literally, they're full of logical holes. If you look at them as metaphor, then they make sense.
Cain and Abel can be seen as the conflict between agrarian and nomadic societies. The early Israelites were wandering shepherds, and they frequently came in conflict with farmers in established towns. The story of God favoring Abel's sacrifice over Cain's is a way of justifying their life. (God wants us to be shepherds, rather than farmers). There are other aspects to the story, depending on the interpretation you give it.
Short answer: if you take Genesis (or most of the Bible, for that matter) literally, it won't make much sense. If you treat it as metaphor, and study exegesis, then it'll make much more sense. [ Ignatz's advice column | Ask Ignatz A Question ]
Cherry_Blow_Pop answered Monday December 31 2007, 5:06 pm: They weren't necessarily white. Jesus wasn't. Let's think of where he was born....hmm...yes just read the bible and you can draw your own conclusions....
AngelofMercy answered Monday December 31 2007, 4:24 pm: LMAO!!!! You sound just like me. I have asked the same exact questions before. The answers I got were, read the bible it tells you in it. Why would I do that? If you just answered, I'd know and we would both be happy. He didn't tell me, so I had to read the bible.
Here is what I read. First Adam and Eve were just two people that was made. There was a hole other town with people in it while Adam and Eve were in their time. So, yes that had Cain and Able, but Cain killed Able, so that would only leave Adam, Eve, and Cain, right? Wrong again. This goes back to the other town. Also, had did we get different races? That applies to this town as well. Also, we got different native tongues because of the tower of babel. These people in a village thought it would be a good idea to build a stairway to heaven so they could meet God. When all the people started working together, God, knowing they couldn't actually reach him, decided to give them different dialects so they couldn't communicate anymore and continue building the bridge.
My next question was this. Ok, so God flooded the
WHOLE world. He told Noah, build an ark, gather your family and two of each kind of animal or living creature you can and get on this boat. Hum, if Noah only took his family, would we all be living in incest to a degree? I mean there is no one else on Earth but them. Did they start reproducing with their cousins and sisters? EEWWW.
So, yes I was very curious about the bible and all that has occured. I haven't gotten all the answers that I have wanted, but I have came up with a few answers. Most of what I told you can be found in the book of Genesis. I hope I have at least answered some of your questions. Good Luck?? [ AngelofMercy's advice column | Ask AngelofMercy A Question ]
