I have never taken birth control, but my friend does. She does not see a Gynocologist. She just goes to the Health Department. I am sure if you call your local Health Department, they can assist you with all your questions.

No. Just talk to your regular doctor about it. I got the pill without taking a pelvic exam or any other one. You don't have to be sexually active for it either. My doctor took a blood test and prescribed me the birth control pills afterwards. I got it for my long period and acne.
Once you become sexually active, it's SUGGESTED that you go see your Gynecologist. ]
To be put on the pill, in the USA anyway, You have to have a pelvic exam and a negative pregnancy test.
This can be done by any doctor who does them.
Family doctors or Gynecologists. As has been
mentioned, free clinics, health departments
and planned parenthood also have doctors who
examine and prescribe them for you. :) ]
If you go to a Gyno, you can definately be perscribed with birth control. It isn't the only way you can get birth control though. You can go to planned parenthood or some physicians. If you are sexually active, going to the Gyno for the pills would be your best option. Every pill works different for every girl, so the appointment would be about making sure everythings ok with you physically & perscribing the best pill for you.

Well, only if you're sexually active, it's suggested that once you have sex you start to visit the Gynocoligist.
If you're taking birth control for another reason, like acne, or whatever, then no.
