runnign in the cold

why is running in the cold better than running in hot weather?

The cold air is more dense and it helps expand your lungs- enabling you to hold more air.

In my personal opinion, the only thing I can come up with is that when it's hot, you're more at risk for a heat stroke, and other conditions.

I would think that if you were to run in hotter weather you would become more hot, dehydrated, etc. a lot quicker. Plus, if it's cooler when you run than you minimize the amount you sweat and such. Although, I always thought sweating was a good thing [whenever I'm sick I'm told to "sweat it out"].
