So, a lovely topic, would be the object of your affection. If you aren't interested in someone, try to pick out major events in your life, because the more you've felt for that topic, the more beautiful your words can be. =D
mariahwannabe answered Wednesday October 17 2007, 12:19 pm: i usually get inspired by what happens to people around me, i've written about losses as i've lost people in my life, or about hurt as my friend had had boy troubles. Think of what has happened to you or friends or write some dilemmas down - like a story. You can look at images or pictures and describe what you feel. Another way to write a poem is to write the title which can give you thoughts straight away.I find listening to songs help me, just say i'm listneing to "umbrella" by rhinnah i'll think of what the song is about and then use it and use my own words and decriptions about it.
allpoetry.com is a great site- there's so many users on it who write poems so check out their poetry and see if you can come up with any ideas,

LagunaBabe answered Wednesday October 17 2007, 12:13 pm: Hello my fellow poetry writer, here's what I do when I write poetry.
*Take a look at my surroundings. This is a major part of my writing, if I just look around and see different people with their problems or with good things that are happening to them -- I get inspired to write about it.
*The weather inspires me sometimes because it represents different things that I can incorporate with it. Example: If it's sunny outside, I think happy. So it makes me think of something happy that I can include the weather with as well (I tried to explain that the best way I could).
*Relationships: Both good and bad inspire me. If it's bad it gets it off my chest. If it's a good one it feels even better to know that I have or have had it, and it inspires me to write about it and share it with others. [ LagunaBabe's advice column | Ask LagunaBabe A Question ]

christina answered Wednesday October 17 2007, 12:58 am: I usually take time to myself to think & look around. Sometimes I'll take a walk & I'll usually find something that inspires me. Try that.
I do the same thing when I want to take pictures. I just take walks, clear my head & look around. =]
SmoothKalyn414 answered Wednesday October 17 2007, 12:55 am: I always go with the mood I'm in or I think of a word and just go with it... I kinda write in a stream of consciousness and whatever comes out comes out... I always play a bass line on my bass or a riff on my guitar or anything like that to get me started... also another way to get inspired is by just listening to music... hope this helps!
