Igotamonopoly answered Thursday October 11 2007, 7:47 pm: If you're concerned about how people you don't even know judge you, you have other issues at hand.
If that's what makes you happy, then let it continue to make you happy.
Just as you have every right to talk about how much you love anime, other people have every right to talk about how much they hate anime.
Knowing Matt, your feelings probably aren't his primary concern. Also knowing Matt, he doesn't really try to offend people. Okay, maybe he does. But nothing he says is usually ever OFFENSIVE. Don't take anything he says as seriously as you already have. [ Igotamonopoly's advice column | Ask Igotamonopoly A Question ]
Sima answered Thursday October 11 2007, 5:17 pm: I'm noticing that you're asking a lot of things about what people think of you and clearly you have no self esteem/self confidence whatsoever. I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but you're only 13 and you have SO many other things to be thinking of other than what people will think of you if you watch Naruto, or whatever other shows you watch. It's just a SHOW. WHO CARES? People keep teasing you because they see that they CAN. If you tell them to stop, or keep ignoring them and not showing any emotion, they will eventually stop. Those people that keep teasing you obviously have nothing else better to do, so keep watching your shows. You're not doing anything to hurt those people, so they should keep out of your business. Say it straightforward. Or if you're talking about Naruto with your best friend and someone comes in the middle of your conversation, politely say "Excuse me, but I was talking to (friend's name)." You need to make it clear that you can't take it anymore.
And please, for the sake of everyone, don't talk about other columnists. I'm sure he doesn't need any shit from you. [ Sima's advice column | Ask Sima A Question ]
LOL_x0x answered Thursday October 11 2007, 5:04 pm: This really isn't an appropriate question.
A. Others opinions on something as insignificant as the T.V shows you watch really shouldn't matter. ESPECIALLY people on here, who are just trying to help you out. As long as you don't think it's babyish, than you shouldn't let others bother you. I'm not saying you're wrong to be upset for people calling you "babyish", but you just really shouldn't let them get to you. Your actual physical friends don't think it's immature, so why let people you don't even physically know bother you?
B. You're contradicting yourself in some form, by targeting somebody who you feels targets you. You are trying to tell us that he makes fun of you, yet you're posting a question calling him out. You're kind of doing the same thing, see? There's really no need for this kind of targeting, it's only making you look a bit immature.
C. If you have a problem with Matt or ANY columnist, you should either:
Nicely post a complaint of some form in his forum, or file an abuse report.
No need to come on here and publically ask a question trying to ruin his reputation.
I did not mean any of what I said above in a rude or inappropriate manner, I just want you to know, for the future, that this isn't a good kind of question to ask on here. We like happy, easygoing people on this site. It takes more muscles to frown than to smile!
Have a Nice Day =D

EDIT:
I don't know why you rated me low. I'm voicing my opinion, just like you. You're kind of immature, so I'm not even going to type anything else. [ LOL_x0x's advice column | Ask LOL_x0x A Question ]
queenhearts answered Thursday October 11 2007, 4:34 pm: Well, the dub is aimed towards children rather than teenagers.. Since they took out most of the violence & blood from it. Americans think that anime is 'dangerous' for teenagers and younger, so they took out things that would influence bad behavior. I don't watch it, but my sister wanted all the originals.. and the dub of Naruto..seems so censored. I've seen some pieces of the show and it's just some nudity in it you know?
You shouldn't care. Once you try telling people what you think about it, they will dig deeper into hurting you or pissing you off. I was in anime club for 3 years, I know how you feel about being judged. It's extremely stupid because people are so ignorant. Most of them obviously have never watched any but they still go on.. "you still watch cartoons?" "You're one of the anime freaks, huh? You want cartoon porn!" They don't realize it's the same damn thing with adult swim's futurama and family guy. You know animations are a lot more interesting than ordinary tv shows. It keeps you watching. There's good violence, a story line, romance, some mechas, fantasy thrown in, and it's GOOD.
You shouldn't care or say anything back to them. Just don't talk about it to the people who dislike anime. Ignore what they say because as soon as they realize it doesn't bother you, they will stop. It's a waste of time and it's immature for them to say anything. Some people don't like it. Some people will judge you anyway. But there's many people like you that like anime, so stick together.
thelaura answered Thursday October 11 2007, 2:37 pm: To be honest, you shouldn't give a damn if people don't like it. You do - and that's all that matters, right?
If they tease you, ignore it. It's very simple. and when they see you aren't bothered by what they're saying, they will soon stop, I promise.
If other people don't like anime, make sure you don't talk to them about it. Just keep it strictly between you and your friends. Then no one will get offended/upset in any way. [ thelaura's advice column | Ask thelaura A Question ]
