Big spaces
Ok, so the school i go to has a bathroom with stall doors that big spaces where the hinges are and people can see through them at you. Obviously when they built them, they just made the doors like that. But anyways, me and all my friends are really self concious about that. What should we do?

Try going during a certain class every day, or rotate classes. It probably won't be as croweded.
No one looks into the crack unless they want to stare at you..most people just do their business and leave right away.

you could:
1. carry a purse and hang it up while you go to cover at least where people could glance over and see you.
2. go to the bathroom with a friend during lunch and have her stand in front of the door.
3. go when no one else goes.
4. go in a bathroom that's never really in use.

Well, it's not as if the girls in the bathroom are trying to look at you.
You just have to know that if they sneak a peek, it was an accident.

You might try writing a (politely phrased) letter to the school principal, asking if it would be possible to glue up rubber strips to the sides of the doors so that that gap would be covered. If you really want to make it happen, do a little research for him and figure the cost of the weatherstripping and the glue to hold it on by making a trip to Home Depot. You'll also want to put in there something about how you understand that a school budget is always tight, but that this would be a small thing that would do a lot to increase the comfort level of the students. You could even offer to do the actual labor yourselves, though there may be district rules that forbid that.
Maybe you'll get a reply to the effect that nothing can be done. In that case, the previous responder's suggestion regarding jackets might be your best bet.

WEll what you should realize is that there is not a lot you can see through that space in the door. Stand outside the door yourself, and try to look in, what do you see? I think not much.
You certainly can't make out who is in there, or what they are doing. If you really look hard, or if you go up to the crack and hold your eye to it, you'll be able to see everything. Do you think girls are like going to be doing that?
Would you and your friends do that?
If you do think kids are going to do that, then poke them in the eye, they won't do it again.
Or call them out on it, say " hey why are you trying to see me naked, are you a pervert or something?" Do you think that would work?
Maybe you could always carry a light jacket or hoodie, and hang in on the door along with your purse in the area where the space is. But be careful about theft. Though I know in some schools they don't let you wear jackets all day.
Well, I hope this helps,and try to remember, all you girls are in the same boat, and none of the girls are going to like to so maybe they will all be respectful and not try to look.

Most likely you can't really see through them unless you stop & stare & most of the time people are passing through quickly. If you are still worried about it, try taking your purse or a hoodie & hang it over the door blocking the space. That's the only thing you can probably do. You're all girls anyway.
