okay so. I'm a girl and I have a guy friend. and everytime we talk on msn, he starts off the conversation with "whats up" and I say "nothing" and then the conversation ends there. when he asks whats up...what is he waiting for me to answer him with?! lollll
ohmylanta answered Monday August 13 2007, 1:44 pm: well when he says "whats up" that
just means he wants an exuse to talk to you.
so when you reply dont just say nothing.
what are you really doing? you could say something like, "just checking my myspace. what about you?" and then he would answer. then from there start a convo. like "what are you doing today?" or ask him for advice on something.
he just wants to start the convo with you. you just have to play along! [ ohmylanta's advice column | Ask ohmylanta A Question ]

honestly, asking [what's up?]
is the mosst boringest question ever!
but dont ever say
[not much, nothing really, etc]
it ALWAYS ends the conversation
& makes the other person a little harder to respond to that.
[unless they say lol, which makes the conversation even more BORING-er]
just start talking about
what you did, or ask a few questions.
or if anything new happend. tell them!
they want entertainment, or someone to talk to.
or maybe, there just a really boring person to talk to online.
Jeanne answered Monday August 13 2007, 2:26 am: Well, when you answer with "nothing", it might sound like you don't really want to talk to him. He's probably hoping you'll say something that he can comment back about and get a conversation going. If you want to talk to him, give him something to respond to! For instance:
Him: whats up?
You: not much... i just got back from the mall.
[then he can ask you what you were shopping for, and you can tell him, and blah blah blah]
or...
Him: whats up?
You: nothing, just talking to ppl on msn. what have you been up to?
[then he can tell you whats he's been doing, and you can comment on it]
or...
Him: whats up?
You: nothing really, just about to have dinner. we're having pizza! yum!
[then he can say something about pizza, or what he had for dinner, or whatever]
Keep the conversation going by asking him questions that he can respond to, like what he did today, what classes he's taking, how he likes his teachers, what he's doing this weekend, etc. [ Jeanne's advice column | Ask Jeanne A Question ]
LoveNJstyle answered Sunday August 12 2007, 11:44 pm: boy: whats up?
you: not much... just got back from riding my bike, you?
boy: [idk]
you: it was so nice out
boy: really?
....
then just go on about random stuff you guys talk about. <3 [ LoveNJstyle's advice column | Ask LoveNJstyle A Question ]
