Yep, you're right that condoms are used to prevent pregnancy. But condoms are also the only thing that prevents STDs. That's why people use them while having oral sex, just in case if they have STDs. Also, if a girl doesn't like the taste of cum or the idea of it in her mouth, sometimes that's why people use condoms during oral sex.

Yes condoms ARE used to prevent pregancy. I guess being used for a blow job they are used to prevent STDS. I however, have never EVER heard of using a condom for a blow job...just see if your boyfriend says anything about it i guess.

Condoms are used to prevent pregnancy AND STD's. Also they are often used during blowjobs if the girl (or guy) doesn't want to swallow the ejaculate, but the guys still wants the pleasure of coming into the girl's mouth. (So they don't have to take it out). It is also a lot easier to clean up.

I don't really hear about a condom having to be on during a blowjob, to prevent herpes, maybe, but if the guy is clean, I don't see why not.
The taste of the condom is terrible and the guy wouldn't be all that sensitive with the condom on.
I wouldn't see the point with the condom.

the guy doesn't have to. some people want them to just to be safe. condoms don't just prevent pregnancy, they also prevent STDs. and STDs can be transmitted through oral sex too.
