Smoking, if done for long enough, _will_ kill you.
Smoking _will_ shorten your life.
Smoking _will_ negatively impact your health now and in the future.
Will smoking for sure guarantee that you cant do the things you talked about?
Its entirely possible.
I reccomend most people at least wait until college to start a smoking habit.
Why?
For the simple reason, that your body isnt done growing until anywhere from 17-20. Its still developing.
And its not a good idea to do things that harm your body when its still growing, you can stunt development.
If you choose to smoke, your goal should be to smoke as little as you can possibly get by with. To quit as soon as you can. It is a personal choice, but you should know the risks.
ductape_n_roses answered Monday August 6 2007, 2:37 pm: I'm gonna flat out tell you to just quit. If ou want to live a long, helthy, normal life, quit smoking. It's a legal drug which is addictive. Just a few here and there will eventually turn into a few every 5 minutes.
If you want to be healthy and live for quite a long time and be able to have even up to great grandkids, stop. If you want those things more than dying from cancer. Both my grandpa and uncle died from cancer. My other grandpa, recently deceased, used to smoke and I'm guessing that it played into the factor of his death. My dad smokes and I'm paranoid he's going to die soon. So don't smoke. It's going to harm others around you too. Not just you. [ ductape_n_roses's advice column | Ask ductape_n_roses A Question ]
fabulous11 answered Monday August 6 2007, 2:04 pm: Its a drug so its addicting, even if you say you will only have one once in a while eventually you will probably grow to wanting more and more. Even one ciggarette is bad for your health. Its so bad for your lungs and can cause empazima that will lead to death. I dont reccomend it at all.
Oaspring answered Monday August 6 2007, 1:50 pm: DONT SMOKE!!! even ONE cigarette can cause immediate damage, and it all adds up.
i wouldnt bet on the whole grandkid thing. sorry. heres some websites that i think you should read:
Milly203 answered Monday August 6 2007, 1:29 pm: Ok...
so if you smoke now every now and then it will turn into all the time. And when it does you will be shortening your life span because it basically kills your lungs. QUIT WHILE YOU CAN!!!!!! My Aunt has been doing this since she was 12 and didn't do it all the time but it turned into an all the time thing. You should see her now. She's about 45 and you can tell its really catching up with her. She has to take so many pills.
(she's tried to stop but can't she's been doing it too long)
She has to get her 2 front teeth filled and cleaned all the time because thats where she holds her cigerette and it has worn them soooo much.
My Grandpa died of lung cancer when I was 5 I don't remember him well. My younger sister was 2 when he died she doesn't remember him at all.
If you want to be able to see you grandchildren or great grandchildren you NEED to stop. You should quit anyway. It will be really hard to quit but you need to!!! (plus think of how much money you will save if you quit...it adds up!)
askshalimar answered Monday August 6 2007, 1:20 pm: Hi, it is not the addictive factor that will be the problem with smoking. Its the tar and carbon manoxide that causes health problems. Even second hand smoking increases the risk of cancer. So, even if you smoke only a few times you will still be damaging your lungs, which means you will start finding it hard to run as you will be out of breath really soon.
My advice is that you try your best to quit smoking, especailly if you want that fabulous future you want...
