They don't care!

Question Posted Tuesday July 10 2007, 5:08 pm

My parents completely ignore me. All the things that i do are never noticed or good enough for them. They are always too busy with work so they don't notice any of my accomplishments. Last week i tried something to get thier attention. I drastically colored my hair to see if they would notice. They said it looks ok and walked away. What can i do to get them to notice me?

You need to sit them both down and tell them that you are feeling unappreciated. Make them listen to even it means that you have to draw them a picture. Tell them that they need to work harder in making time for you. Thats what parents are for, to make you feel special. You need to tell them when you dont feel like you are getting enough attention. They might not know that you feel this way.

Brake an arm!! JK!! Maybe you did something wrong, like if you did something that they got so mad, brake something in the house, or didn't do what they say. If you have siblings then I guess they have to take care of them. But don't worry they still love you! Call some friends, hangout, and have some fun.
Hope I helped!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my answer is much like the other answer on here.. just try talking to them. if you eat dinner together.. talk to them then. dont rebel though. it causes nothing but more anger and frustration for you. trust me. i've done it before with my mom because it seemed she stopped caring. it just turns out bad if you do stuff just because they dont care and you want them to do anything to prove they care.

idk what your parents do for a living, but they should never be too distracted to pay attention to their own child. like the other answer said.. find something to do with them. go out bowling one night, or mini-golf or something. ... if that doesnt work, just try to talk to them whenever you can... if nothing seems to work though.. dont blame yourself. whatever you do... do not blame yourself. its not at all your fault. keep your head up and it'll be okay.

hope i helped.

They are your parents, I'm sure that they do care. They probably just have a lot of stuff to do and are very distracted. Don't change your appearance or do anything drastic. Talk to them and ask them why they are like this. They probably have a good excuse. Then, ask them if they want to watch a movie or play a board game with you one night. Plan a date and remind them so they don't forget.Try spending some quality time with them when they aren't busy.

Good Luck.

Its rough hun, and I am sorry they are like that. You need to sit them down and tell them exactly how you feel. I know it may seem pointless, or even scary. But chances are they are so busy they dont realize what they are doing. Rebeling doesnt always work...they may think it makes you happy and if it does that is fine with them. Its something you need to discuss with them...I had the same problem. I wrote my mother a note and put it on her pillow....thats how I broke the ice.
