rocky horrror picture show.
i'm not sure if any other cities [or towns, as the one i'm in] do this, but every friday night at midnight at a local cinema, a theater company puts on the rocky horror picture show. one of my best friends goes almost every week, and this friday we're going. it's always themed, and everyone always dressed really provocativel/slutty. but other than that, i don't really know what it is. is it an actual show, like a play production, or is it a movie [although i know its based on the movies], or what. if anyone has any idea, that would be helpful (:

Well, it's a movie. A really bad movie, as movies go. It was so bad that, when it was released in the early '70s, people started yelling things at the screen and duplicating the action in front of the audience. Pretty soon it was a cult phenomenon.
If you go for your first time, you'll be treated as a "virgin", lots of crude jokes will be made, but you won't be too badly humiliated. (I got handcuffed to a pretty girl. No problems there.) Go, enjoy yourself, have fun.

It could either be the stage production or the movie... The movie is about a transvestite alien who does all this weird stuff to people and like creates people...
It's a good movie though. I love it.
It was an old tradition for people to go and see the movie like all the time and they'd dress up as characters from the movie and they had a lot of other rituals that they'd do...

rocky horror picture show is a really wacky musical. i won't give it away but these newlyweds break down in front of a mansion and they go inside and some really weird stuff goes on, the owner of the mansion is a cross dressing transvestite. it's just very very weird and there is a good chance you'll get a stomach ache after you've watched it for the first time.

I know the Rocky Horror Picture Show to be a musical made into a movie.
As far as how you guys do it, it could much, much different. It may be a musical, or a live show, but you would need to ask your friends that since they've been & we haven't.

It could also be the actual live production. Then before the show they would hand you a bag of props such as a mini flashlight, toast, rice, anything that's found in the movie. And at different cues you throw the prop on stage. It's really fun, I go sometimes, it's even better when you dress up.

i was wondering about this too (after reading "the perks of being a wallflower"), and wikipedia.org has a lot of information on it that explained it really well. go there and search for "rocky horror picture show" and you should find it. i think it is like, they show the movie, and during the movie, people shout stuff at the screen or whatever and it's really like scripted or something. but i think there's something embarassing you have to do if you've never been before, so ask your friend about it! i'm being serious, like i heard that they make you dance the time warp or something. haha.
