1. you could try using a really skinny tampon.. make sure youre actually putting it in right.
2. wear a thin-ish pad with shorts
3. i wouldnt go in the pool with nothing b/c yess your period does somewhat stop when you get in the water.. but as soon as you get out it may start again and that could be embarrassing if it starts again while youre getting out of the pool and everyone sees

actuallly, the second you get in the water, your period stops. (: what i would do, is tell your friend, about it, and ask her to put like some pads or whatever in the bathroom, have one on, when ur wearing your bathing suit, and wear like just a cute pair of shorts over. then when you see everyone starting to go in the pool, go to the bathroom really quick, and take it off, and then go jump in the pool. then, when your ready to get out and you know ur probably gonna be out for good, go back into the bathroom, put a fresh one on, put your shorts on, and bamm. your good to go. (:

oooh, and yes, it does stop when you get in the water, my moms a registered nurse, and my dads a doctor, and i've asked them that before, and they said yes it does, so don't listen to anyone, if they tell you it doesnt..

Well, think about it. Do you want the chance of being completly embarassed? If a tampon hurts you try buying the smallest size, i would say tampon pearl easier to insert, and put on foot up on the toilet and the other keep on the floor and bend down a little and insert, thats the only way i could get one in my first time and i was 8 when i did that. And all i had was cardboard ones.

Take some tylenol or motrin if you think it'll help with the pain...Dont risk the chance of being soo embarassed....

PS. if you wear a tampon remember to tuck the string in and keep checking!!! :-D

Pads in the water is a bad idea (Think about those commercials with babies with water bogged diapers on from going into the water). Your period does not stop in the water (refer to ivillage here: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) for professional advice), you just don't notice it as much. The reason tampons hurt you is because you're not putting them in properly, or because they're too big. Purchase the smallest size tampons available and have your mom (if available) or another female help you with putting them in the first few times. Also, it's easier to put a tampon in if you're laying down on your back than if you're standing up.

I have the same problem hun!! but i hav deff found a solution :) Ok this might sound rly gross to you but it works for me. It worked for me at a water park and pools. What you do i wear your bathing suit..and then for your bottoms (wear your bottome suit) and wear a pad. If you just got your period and its hevay wear a pad but if its gonna be lighter then, use a panti liner. Then just wear shorts and roll them up so they will be tight around. It should deffinitly stay in. I went down a water slide lol and it stayed in, so you should be fine. And if people ask you just make up an excuse..idk it doesnt look completly adnormal. Good Luck!!

-Oh and usually your "flow" will stop if your in water..so if your gonna be there for a while change it.

I've had a similar problem to this before. for my birthday i took a few of my friends to a waterpark as my party. When we got to the park i discovered that i got my period. and this was the first time ever having my period. i was scared, nervous...ect. but my mom went and bought me tampons. they hurt so bad but the reason they hurt was becasue i didnt put them in all the way...it still worked, it just hurt.

so im thinking that the reason it hurts to wear a tampon is becasue you are not putting it in correctly or not in all the way. they are actually very comfortable when properly used. You could always ask your mom or sister if you have a sister for help. if need be.

However; If you do not want to wear a tampon i would just come ot the party a few minutes late & say taht your going somewhere after the party and your mom doesnt want you wet. that way you can still enjoy the time with your friends. and if these guys ahve any respect they would leave you alone.

I truely hope this helped and good luck with everything.

I hated using them too, and i dreaded it seriously. But after the first two times, it doesnt hurt anymore. You just have to get used to it.
