Tanning

Question Posted Wednesday June 20 2007, 10:41 am

Can you still tan if you put sunscreen on? I need to make sure I don't get a burn, but I hate being so freakishly white!

yes you can, it depends on what spf you use. if you use spf 30, you most likely will not tan. howeveer, if you use spf 15, you will tan, and as long as you reapply it often you will not burn.

for the first couple of times you lay outside or go to the beach or whatever you should definitly wear sunblock, you can still tan, its meant to prevent you from burning, not to cause you not to tan. once you've been out in the sun a lot just switch over to tanning lotion and use a brand that has a little spf in it to protect you from burning still.

Try that, and you won't burn. EXCEPT!!!!! USE 30-50 SPF ON YOUR FACE!! Your face will burn like crazy with that stuff on it.

Good luck!!

Yes you can. Just get lots of sun and you won't burn or anything but eventually you will get a nice natural tan. I've done it.

Yes, you can tan while wearing sunscreen. Use SPF15 sunscreen or lower. You may even be able to get away with SPF8. But be careful. I don't mean to sound preachy, but I've lost family to skin cancer.

And who says been freakishly white isn't sexy? =].

Haha, yes. I am exactly the same way. I burn like crazy but I'm really white and hate being that way. I use some kind of tanning oil that has spf 15, which is decent. For people like us who are really white and burn spf 30 is best, but it's harder to get at an like that. Then again, I reapply the SPF 15 so much that it probably ends up working like 30.

Anyway just find a tanning oil that protects against burns. If you burn easily make sure to use atleast spf15, although spf30 is best.

But to answer your original question, yes, you can still tan when using sunscreen. It just takes more time to get the tan. At least you won't burn.
