She probably whines because she's not used to the cage yet. It might be frightening for her to stay in a cage all alone at night.

When she follows you, it's probably because she wants to be with you. Loyal and very eager to please! My dog is 4 years old and he STILL does it. Teach her to SIT & STAY!When she gets older, she'll have more time to sleep all day. Most dogs do it, don't worry.

When I got a new puppy mine did the same exact thing. At night in her cage she would whine and whine and squeal. And she folowed everyone around every where. The reason for the cage thing is that shes not used to it. Shes probably never experinced it and was terrified. Second puppys want to be with there owners and they cant do that in a cage. so they naruraly are uncomfortable and they whine. third they might be wondering where you are and they are worried about you. Just like babys, puppys cry at night. and just like babys, puppys will eventually mature and be able to handle a cage. They do get over it. Trust me.

They folow you around because one they are curious. two because they love you. Just like the cage thing, they do get over that and eventually get more independent than that.

What we did with our dog about the potty training thing is we asked our local vet and they gave us great tips. When they do it right, make sure yo give them a reward for doing it, other wise they just forget! And when you want to train them, its best that yo do it yourself instead of paying somone to do it. I know it wasnt the best advice, but i hoped i helped a little. Good luck!

-Rachel

IF you just got her, she crys because she's in a new home which she need time to get comfortable in.
When I first got my dog, he did the same thing. It takes some time.

Go to the pet store & ask if they have any tips or pamphlets on how to train your new puppy. Since they work there, they could be pretty helpful. You could also try googling information about it & learning more.

But my guess about why your puppy is crying & following you is because she loves you, and wants to play with you but you're ignoring her so she's going to cry/follow you until you give her the attention she deserves.

Get some puppy training pads from the pet store. They are expensive but worth it. Reward cuddles when you see her using the training pads, and punish her if you see her going to the bathroom not on one. Taking puppies out at least once every hour is helpful in addition to limiting their intake of food and water. She will get over the crying eventually and may even move on to barking. Dogs, unlike cats, are very attached to their humans, and miss them when they leave... even if they have only walked into the next room.
