I don't personally wear abercrombie or hollister, because i know longer like it. mostly because, loser people pushed me away from it. they told me that i was being a follower, and that i should get my own taste in fashion. well, that was my taste in fashion. i actually liked it. i wasn't just following the crowd. and now, that i dont shop there. im like lost, i never know where to go. and thats not fair, that they always bugged me about it. and i even see like, on here, where people say that if you buy that stuff, then you dont know what fashion is, and your not grown up because you cant get your own opinion on things. well isnt that kinda being judgemental? i mean, not everyone is just following the crowd. i dont understand why some people make such a big deal out of it. i mean, why cant people just wear whatver they want? its just clothing? why dont those people just care about themselves? and worry whats going on with them?
i honestly, dont get that. so if your one of those people who told people that people are followers who wear abercrombie, or whatver. just someone please explain this to me.

LoveNJstyle answered Saturday June 2 2007, 8:15 pm: I agree with you. I too have most of the sides of A&F and those stores. there was a time when i thought oh that stuff is skanky and overpriced blah blah i have my own taste and i'm only buying things from hot topic. it was "me & my taste" at the time. then i realized that there are a lot of ways to personalize these over produced clothes that everyone has. it's not being a follower... it's your choice to wearing what you like. I guess i would call someone that ONLY wore stuff with A&F LOGOS all the time a follower... just because it would just look stupid but other than that, whatever. it's popular and people that don't like it are probably people that can't afford it anyway. that's just how i see it.
as for not being grown up because you buy fashions.. that did get me a little ticked off because i know a lotttt of adult women that buy fashions for their age group and they are very grown up. my mom's friend is around 35 with 3 kids, one that is autistic (meaning if she wasn't "grown up" already, she definatly is now) and she buys fashionable stuff... if she were my mom, i'd let her pick my wardrobe.
anyway, that's just what i think of all this. maybe i'm missing something and i didn't quite catch the idea but i'm pretty sure this is what you're looking for. <3 [ LoveNJstyle's advice column | Ask LoveNJstyle A Question ]
Jeanne answered Saturday June 2 2007, 7:50 pm: There are three types of people (fashion-wise):
1) People who want to wear what everyone else is wearing, because they want to fit in. They like the attention they get from being seen as part of the mainstream group.
2) People who rebel against what's in fashion, because they don't want to seem like followers. They like the attention they get from being "different."
3) People who wear whatever they want, and honestly don't care what anyone else thinks. They don't care if they get attention or not, they just wear whatever makes them happy.
There's nothing wrong with any of these people. They just have different motivations for chosing their clothes. Whatever your reasons for wearing, or not wearing, something, don't worry too much about it. Just do what makes you happy! [ Jeanne's advice column | Ask Jeanne A Question ]
Helpful answered Saturday June 2 2007, 7:34 pm: That is the steriotype- that if you wear Hollister and AE, you're not being yourself. But steriotypes are not always true. It sure sounds like it isn't in this case. You just wear it because you like it. You can tell those people (nicely, please!) exactly what you told us. It IS your taste in fashion.
You know what you like and you like those clothes. I don't think you'll have a problem expressing your opinion. And if they don't change their minds, don't sweat it- everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Good luck trying to smooth it over! [ Helpful's advice column | Ask Helpful A Question ]
lilmegsoko answered Saturday June 2 2007, 7:23 pm: I'll be honest. Its stereotyping. Its not fair but its true. When the whole abercrombie thing hit, it was usually cheerleaders, rich people, and jocks that wore it. Its like how "freaks" shop at hot topic. I mean think about it, those people might wear those clothes for the same reason as you. It makes you feel comfortable. However they still get labeled Gothic. Its a crappy situation but thats just how it is. Just because you shop somewhere doesnt mean you dont know what fashion is. But unfortunately just like how people judge by race, and music, they judge by clothing too. If you wear all black you are stuck up, if you wear abercrombie your a prep. trendy is trendy tell them to shove it dress how you want to dress [ lilmegsoko's advice column | Ask lilmegsoko A Question ]
CheerCandi answered Saturday June 2 2007, 6:29 pm: well abrecrombre is preppy wear so most likely preppy people told you that.they werent being nice or fair and you are so right. but thats not a good reason to stop wearing those clothes. even tho i see why you did. the could be jealous and think that there the only ones to wear those clothes. i personaly dont wear abrocrombre (i dont like it) but sweetsz do whatever you want. and if your friends dont like it then its their personal problem and you should get new friends [ CheerCandi's advice column | Ask CheerCandi A Question ]
