I'm on the slim4life diet and have been for about a month. I keep cheating. It's making the weight loss slow down. I don't tell anyone I do but I am and I feel like I can't help it. Iv'e gotten a little better on self control but it's hard not to cheat. especally being a teenager and all my friends eat food like I want but can't have. I'm really trying my hardest not to cheat. Anyone have tips to stop eating off plan foods?

Jeanne answered Tuesday June 5 2007, 2:22 am: Well, this is going to sound a little crazy and disgusting, but... I once read about this idea in a diet magazine. If there's a certain type of food that you have a hard time passing up (pizza, for example, or chocolate)... imagine that food sitting in a toilet, covered in the most disgusting stuff that you can imagine that would be in a toilet. I guess the idea is to make that food so revolting that you won't want to eat it ever again. Kinda weird, I know... but maybe it will work for you? [ Jeanne's advice column | Ask Jeanne A Question ]
CheerCandi answered Saturday June 2 2007, 11:17 pm: ask your friends to be more supportive. if they keep eatingin front of then that will temp you. get rid of all temptations. go to the store and buy nice diet foods. buy alot so the house feels full of food.find some extra curricular things to do. go out with the girls. just satay away from food stores. always keep some extra diet food and keep it with you in case your friends just stop by a food store. also chewing gum will help. it will burn carbs. and keep you mouth occupied. I did the South Beach diet and dropped a ton of weight. It was easy for me, because I could eat just about everything I like, except for bread, pasta, or cereal. You can find sugar-free versions of a ton of candies and other sweet stuff. I could even eat fast food; I just ordered a hamburger without the bun and a side salad.
All it takes is finding a diet that allows you to eat relatively normally. That way, when you 'cheat', it's not so bad.
Just so you know, a great low-cal snack is homemade popsicles made from Crystal Light or Kool-Aid made with Splenda. They're one of my favourites... I actually like them more than ice cream now! [ NinjaNeer's advice column | Ask NinjaNeer A Question ]

I'm on a low-calorie diet and working out. When I eat Junkfood, I don't beat myself up for it.
I never heard of the slim4life diet before, but if you to see if i can help you stick with it, message me in my inbox.
lbwhite89 answered Saturday June 2 2007, 10:01 am: I was on Atkins for 3 months and low calorie for another three, so I know all about cravings and being a teenager on a diet.
It's all about motivation and KEEPING yourself motivated. When you see something bad you want to eat, just think about making yourself more healthy and think about when you'll be thin and hot. You don't want to ruin that. Also, think about how guilty you'll feel for eating that later.
One thing that worked for me was giving myself ONE day per week (I chose Sunday, my weigh-in day) that I allowed my self to cheat a little bit. Eat some of your favorite "bad" foods one day a week to get rid of the cravings. It shouldn't slow down your weight loss as long as you don't go crazy.
