[Link](Mouse over link to see full location) ..but if your hair is brown .. i'd say maybe something amythest/purple. and if you don't like something that extreme, you can go for a darker plum. when you wear colors like purple and blue .. you can definitely notice that you have makeup on, but it gives it almost a more innocent look than something like black gray or dark brown would. experiment, everyone has their own certain color. for example my hair is dirtyblonde with red in it and i have green eyes but i found that i really like the way bright blue looks. who would think! so good luckk.. i hope you find your perfect shade! =] [ amandaaxoox's advice column | Ask amandaaxoox A Question ]
NinjaNeer answered Wednesday May 2 2007, 5:31 pm: I'd go for a very simple routine. You're absolutely right in thinking that a lot of makeup will make you look old.
I'd go for brown mascara, eyeshadow in a neutral or light pastel colour (I'd suggest a khaki green based on your colouring), and a little blush and lip gloss.
If you don't need foundation, don't wear it. It causes premature aging and is not good for your skin.
Avoid dark, unnatural colours. If you can, when you're shopping for makeup ask the ladies at the store for help. They know what they're talking about.
Here's how I do eyeshadow, just for reference. I've been doing it the same way since I started wearing makeup 7 years ago.
3 colours in the same palette, right? Take the medium colour and brush it over your eyelid. Use the lightest to dab the very inner corner of your eye. Then use the darkest one to trace the line of your upper lid, very carefully.
Always remember, the best kind of beauty is natural beauty, so make sure that whatever makeup you're wearing emphasizes your face, without overwhelming it. [ NinjaNeer's advice column | Ask NinjaNeer A Question ]
lbwhite89 answered Wednesday May 2 2007, 10:30 am: I'm 17 and have medium brown hair with highlights a little past my shoulders. I've gone through all kinds of different eye colors since I started wearing make-up and this is where I've ended up:
-Put foundation/power on your eyes to clear a nice smooth surface.
-Apply eyeliner to top and bottom of eyes. I use black glide eyeliner from clinique.
-I use strawberry fudge eyeshadow from clinique ([Link](Mouse over link to see full location)) and I apply the lighter pink first to the entire eyelid.
-Apply the darker pink to the bottom half of the eyelid and blend the colors a bit.
-Re-apply the darker pink to the outer tips of the eyes. This makes your eyes look gorgeous if you do it the right way.
-Finally, I apply a very light shimmery color to the top half of my lids to lessen the intensity of the light pink and make it extra shimmery.
-At the end, use your powder brush to get all the loose eyeshadow off of your lids.
I also apply mascara to my lashes to finish off the look. I love how it looks. I don't have any pics of me to where you can see what it looks like, so I tried to be as specific as possible.
If you're just looking for color ideas...black is usually best in eyeliner. As for eyeshadow colors for brunettes: pinks, browns, grays, maybe some greens.
NyCsweetie answered Wednesday May 2 2007, 1:06 am: It would have been helpful to know your eyecolor when picking a shadow but i tried to give you pretty versatile options. here's what i think you need:
-simple mascara. get a brand that's got a really detailed brush so your lashes are defined as individual eyelashes and not clumps of dark goopy crap. (i use 'lash exact' mascara, and it hardly clumps at all.)i think you should try black and/or the mixture of brown and black, both would compliment your dark hair well.
-black/dark blue/brown/any dark color that's very subtly noticeable eyeliner.
For starters, just use it on your bottom eyelid. apply it lightly on the place where your eyelashes meet up with the lower lid until you're satisfied with how it looks. if you think having more would look good, try putting some on your upper lid make sure to put it on evenly for both eyes.
once you're wearing this, i don't think you'll need much else. a deep shade of purple eyeshadow put on VERY LIGHTLY helps make anyone's eyes stand out.
lol i didn't know how to explain some things so i tried to draw it for you.
after you read the rest, click here, or copy the url into your browser:
-if you don't NEED it, don't use it. the key to looking good with makeup on is to make sure it's noticeable but not too distracting from your natural features.
-When you put on the mascara, start with the middle lashes and brush them upward. then do the sides and brush them slightly outwards.
-if you put a little bit of white eyeshadow on (see picture) it makes you look more awake.
-always have makeup remover and cue-tips handy.
-when you wash off eye makeup you need to get it wet and then wipe it away with something dry, otherwise it just stays there.
it sounds like you fit the description of one of my best friends. the make up i described is similar to what she wears-- and looks fabulous in, i might add.-- she's 15, but i think what i suggested should be age appropriate (:
Faerie answered Wednesday May 2 2007, 12:23 am: The right color bit depends on your skin tone and eye color hon. If you send me those info to my inbox, I'd be more than happy to help you =).
Also I'd recommend that you keep it simple and wash your face regularly. Don't let other influence you about what or how you should wear xyz. As long as you're comfortable with it and it shows your real age, it's perfect.
