but makeup can make pimples irritated and more red.
instead, try getting rid of your pimples: I use Clean &Clear Advantage acne spot treatment.
not sure how much it was, but it was less than $20
it's a little tube.... looks kinda like metal... it has purple on it...
it is salicylic acid, though, so your skin will burn the first few times, but then you get used to it. I actually liek it. lol.... and if you use it along with other acne treatments with acid, it may dry your skin out, so get an oil-free face lotion too.

I've been a wreck lately due to stress from papers/research and broke out...this is the one thing that covers very well, evens out my skin, and feels so light. I'd also suggest getting something at MAC; their foundation is very effective and is good quality-- it should be no more than $15 or so. They also have a concealer in a little pot- that's very good too.Pimples are really annoying, but with the right foundation, you can minimize the appearance, especially if you have minor breakouts/redness.
Oh, if you're going to use liquid foundation, or concealer, get a foundation sponge applier thing..the triangular spongy-like thing, and blend in very lightly with that. You can also try using your ring finger to gently pat and blend. [ ciao77's advice column | Ask ciao77 A Question ]

You can check out the prices and diff. shades and stuff on their sites.
Nivea's the most expensive... $18-$20 I think (where I live, at least...)
