ok, example.
you are in a really bad relationship say its abusive or something. and you could get out...
well people say the grass is greener on the other side because if you ended that relationship then things would be better for you and "greener" the other way around

the grass is greener on the other side, means that everyone always thinks that everyone else has it better than they do. The greener the grass, the better the grass. For example, the poorest person in the world probably thinks that it would be amazing to be filthyyyy rich. [it would be better on the other side] while the rich person, may want to know what its like to be poor [he also thinks it would be better on the other side]. it's kind of like, people with curly hair always want straight, and people with straight hair always want curly.. because it's human nature never to be satisfied. and that is what that quote means =) hope i helped yaaahh!! ♥

It's basically looking at an event from someone else's point of view. Just as Clara has stated.

For example: You wish you were popular, because of various reasons. The popular person wishes they weren't popular now because truly, "the grass is greener on the other side." Meaning the non-popuar side is best.

This is looking at the other person's point of view and seeing "the other side."

It means you always think that what you have is bad and what you dun have is good.

E.g. You are single and you envy those who are married. While those who are married, envy those who are single.

You belong to one side of the field while that married person belongs to the other side of the field. So you keep thinking that its better over at the other side (i.e the grass is greener on the other side from your pt of view) while that married person keeps thinking that its better over at your side (i.e. the grass is greener on the other side from their point of view)

Therefore, the grass is always greener on the other side but yellowish on your own side. Get it?
