Yep, so two of my friends and I were discussing the book of revelations in the bible, and from other sources aswell, we found that the world is supposed to end in 2012, with reffernces of fire of a meteor or something?
Could someone please fill me in on this, and how factually based it is, I mean.. it was found in a biblical based book..

OR ANGEL knows the day, hour OR year that jesus shall return(end of the world) only GOD himself knows. hope this helps.
kwyllie7892 answered Sunday May 6 2007, 10:02 pm: God will end the world when he decideds the time is right. No scientists can predict this. I mean, they thought the world was going to end in 2000, they have no idea what they're talking about. When God thinks the time is right he will end the world.

Only the Father knows." (CEV) Since no one knows, any prediction is false. You need only make sure you are prepared by having a relationship with God through His Son Jesus. If you know Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life, that day will be a joy for you because you will go home to be with Jesus forever.
No one can predict it nor has that day happened yet either. I repeat, NOT happened yet. The Bible says in Luke 17:24 "The day of the Son of Man (Jesus) will be like lightning flashing across the sky." (CEV) and in Matthew 24:30 "Then a sign will appear in the sky. And there will be the Son of Man (Jesus). All nations on earth will weep when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory." (CEV)
All the nations will see Jesus at once and that has not happened. If you know Jesus, you have nothing to fear no matter when that day occurs. [ mylordwon's advice column | Ask mylordwon A Question ]
theymos answered Sunday April 1 2007, 6:55 pm: That's based on the old Mayan calender, I'm surprised no one else knew that. It doesn't specifically name that date in the bible, but religious people have picked it up. A division of the Mayan's long count calender ends on December 21, 2012. The Mayans predict a very serious occurrence will happen on this date, perhaps a world war or a mass extinction, but not the "end of the world". They predict the end of this age, the end of the human race on earth, would occur on October 13, 4772. The Mayans were right about many predictions, and wrong about many others, you can do with this info what you like, no one will know if this is true until December 21, 2012. Brandi_S answered Sunday April 1 2007, 6:39 pm: Realistically, the Bible is a guide to live life by. Meaning, just because it says the world will end in a certain year, doesn't make that a fact.
I would suggest you grab a Bible and read the book of Revelations. Though, I find the "thou art" style of language a little hard to read, it is, in my opinion, one of the most interesting books in the Bible. Even if it is hard to read, it isn't hard to understand. christina answered Sunday April 1 2007, 6:27 pm: Think of this:
Everyone thought the world was gonna end when the millenium [yr 2000] hit because of what was written in the bible.. We're still here. Everyone thought that just last year on June 6th, 2006 the world was gonna end because of what was written in the bible. We're still here. I doubt anything will happen to us in 2012. Maybe we'll get bombed by another country, or maybe we'll find the cure for AIDS, or maybe we'll have a baby boom. But just because something's written in the bible doesn't mean it's accurate. And besides, the bible was written hundreds of years ago by people who experienced this. They indeed have no powers to predict the future. [ christina's advice column | Ask christina A Question ]
spacefem answered Sunday April 1 2007, 6:23 pm: Ever since the Bible has written, people have found evidence that the world will end in the next few years. So far (obviously) none of them were correct. If you keep digging, you'll find more "biblical based" books that called for the end of the world in 2000, 1994, 1983... it doesn't really matter, does it? The fact is that no one will know the day or the hour, and there is additional evidence to support the idea that the second coming of Christ already happened as described in Acts and we are living in what should be the kingdom of heaven now, He is among us and the world is set up according to God's rules and there's no major end of the world coming in 2012 or any other year, unless we do it to ourselves. ih8dissite answered Sunday April 1 2007, 5:56 pm: i heard something like that too a while ago, but i think that actually had something to do with the aztec calendar, because that's when the calendar ends or something. as for the bible, it was previously said that the world would end sometime between 2000-2006.... obviously, that didn't happen.
just because a book is based on the bible doesn't mean it's accurate. [ ih8dissite's advice column | Ask ih8dissite A Question ]
