Question Posted Sunday March 18 2007, 5:49 am

Once you've deleted everything to the trash can on your computer, and then deleted everything from the trash can, is it PERMINATLY gone from your computer? Like, people can't find it after you've deleted it from the trash and everything? Please let me know ASAP!

No, it's very, very easy to recover that data. You can recover all your deleted data by running an undeleter like recuva( [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) ). If you want to delete things permanently, first download and install eraser here: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) . Open it and go to file>new task. Make sure the first radio button is checked, and use the first dropdown to select your main drive(usually "local disk(C:)"). Click ok, right click on the new entry in the list, and click "run". After it's finished(which will be a very long time), it would take an investment of hundreds of thousands of dollars to recover anything you've deleted.

No it isn't. Lots of information remains on your hard drive. That is why it is never a good idea to just toss a computer. Read this one page article for more information.

Yes, it's off your computer for good -- that is, unless you restore your computer. Then, it will come back if it's close to the restore point (if someone decides to restore your computer). If you know you're not going to be restoring it for a long time, then you have no problems and it will be permantely gone. By the way, if you want to delete your browsing history (this will not come back, through restore points), you can you go into your Internet Options, and click "Delete Browsing History."

Pretty much. If you empty the trash can. Unless you do system restore, which goes back a day. But I doubt anyone would do that, since you lose anything you did after that date.

Make sure you delete it from the trash can, and recycle bin (if they are different on your computer). as long as they are not in your history, then you are fine=]
