In fact sometimes eating meat helps you to lose weight because you have more energy to run, and play sports. If you do start to be a vegetarian though, make sure you get enough proein in your diet to keep you healthy!
MikeCFT answered Saturday March 10 2007, 2:48 pm: That's an extremely broad question. Vegetarians don't necessarily lose more weight than meat eaters and they aren't necessarily healthier. It doesn't matter if you're vegan or not- if you eat like garbage then nothing is going to work. [ MikeCFT's advice column | Ask MikeCFT A Question ]
punkrockprincess answered Saturday March 10 2007, 1:32 pm: I'm gonna have to say false. I've been a vegetarian for almost two years now and I weigh the same as I did when I was a meat eater.
Also, if you stop eating meat in general, be sure you get enough protein through vitamins or any other alternative.
Maybe talk to your doctor about the kind of diet that would be good for your body.
Alin75 answered Saturday March 10 2007, 1:28 pm: ***EDIT***: Wow, I misdread the question... thats a first. My apologies, I was in a real rush there.
I was a vegetarian for six years (I missed the whole meat thing altogether) or so in my twenties. I can safely say that it does not categorically help you lose weight. Sometimes some temptations are by default easier to overcome, but you can easily get fat as a veggie (particularly if you still eat dairy).
So, I would say the answer is probably "true" since it can help, but not by much, and its in no way a guarantee.
askkatie answered Saturday March 10 2007, 1:24 pm: Technically yes, but meat has protien in it which your body needs! If you are going to stop eating meat just to lose weight I'd suggest excersing more (bleh, I know) and also eating more fruits and veggies, with at least a little bit of meat. That'll help tremendously! If you want to stop eating meat because you want to become a vegitarian then go for it, but drink protien shakes to keep it in your body.
