Question Posted Thursday March 8 2007, 10:48 pm

I put out a bulletin on myspace saying, "i deserved that part."

so they all hate me, litterally. They are being commpletly unreasonable about it.

How should i react to them?!

dude, that was a bit too much gloating. but as an answer to your problem, here. Ignore them. if you need to get really interactive with one or more of them n the play, try findng the weakest link, the one that hates you the least, and make eye contact. When contact is made, smile and talk to them. show no hostility because of the way they treated you. then gradually work your way up. if they won't try, then ignore them. after the play is done, you won't see them anyway after.

as a theater kid myself...they weren't necessarily jealous...but you did come off as cocky...we theater kids don't like cocky people...if you were in their position would you like it? I don't think you would...we might pride ourselves on our work...but becoming a braggart will get you nowhere in theater...it just hurts you in the long run...it's okay to be excited...not cocky...that bulletin was cocky and overly proud...say it...but don't let the theater kids hear you...they'll exile you which is apparently what you did...there isn't much you can do to fix it either...you just have to let it run its course

They probably are jelous-- which is perfectly normal. Instead of rubbing it in their faces ,( which I'm not saying you did) play it down a little. Maybe like, well it really makes me happy I got this part because I haven't had alot happening latley.

OR

Arguing with me about it is not going to solve anything. I got the part, and I'm happy about it. We are going to have to be working together for the next 3 monthes so we might as well get along. By the way, you were really great at tryouts.

They probably see you as being cocky, that you got the part, and they probably thought you were bragging about how you got the part. It will all die down soon enough, and you probably got the part because the director thought you did deserve it. Just give everyone a little time to cool down, and let things get back to normal

They're just jealous. You were proud of yourself for getting the part you wanted. You were the best for the part, obviously. That's why you got it. Tell them to stop being jealous. Ask them "Why wouldn't I deserve the part I got?"

ok i'm going to be honest. they might hate you because you were being kinda full of yourself when you posted that. put yourself in their shoes, if you came home and saw someone post that you might be mad too. you may have deserved it but it may have not been your place to be saying it. apologize and if they don't accept your appology then just play your role and do your best.

Of course you did, that is why you were picked for it.

Tell the cast to get over themselves. You were picked for the part and because of that, yeah you did deserve it. Just like if you didn't get the part, you obviously didn't deserve it.
