i used to have pretty bad acne and then i went to the doctors and asked them about it. they gave me thys one gel thing that you would put on two times a day. and mine cleared up pretty fast. so maybe give that a try? sorry i dont remember the name. also about proactivve.. i have it now and it works great for me. it helps breakouts. even if your not shure, there are many things you can do with proactive. theres a 30 day trial and if you do see improvment you can just cancel. also another thing is maybe it just works on my skin but my face clears up more with cheaper products... weird i know..but somthing like olay facial cleansers work for me i hope i helped!

there is a great company called dhc
at www.dhccare.com

i think they are pretty amazing!

make sure you cleanse, tone, and moisturize
that is a vital 2-a-day ritual to make sure your skin stays clear

dhc has products for every type of skin
dry, normal, oily, ect...
so u dont have to worry about buying a cleanser that strips the hydration, or a moisturizer that is to greasy. it may be hard to find just ONE thing you want to buy
BUT!
when you order, they let you pick 4 products you would like to sample!

one time i went to the dermatologist. they gave me differin. it took 6 months to start working. and when it did start to work, it only worked for like 2 months. it made my skin all dry and flaky.. so i used all these cheap moisturizers that made me break out even more.

also, if you wear makeup..
i would suggest bareminerals. ( not made by dhc )
but whatever you do..
make sure your moisturizer has had a few minutes to absorb into your face

hope i helped!

my doctor gave me an antibiotic called Minocyclin. It's amazing. You might talk to your doctor and have them look into it. They told me its a fairly minld antibiotic and if it didnt help they could increase the dosage or give me something stronger and add a topical cream to help.

Theres also an over the counter pill called Natures Cure. You buy it in like one or two month supplies, i dont remember which. Its like $10 but it does work. It comes with a cream that you put directly on the acne, and it dries them out and doesnt leave scarring. You might try that and if it doesnt work talk to your doctor.

I would try Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash on your face as well as your chest and back. It's somewhat strong on some people's skin though, so I would not use it every day, or if you want to, use Clean & Clear Oil Free Morning Glow Moisturizer after washing your face. You'll probably only need to use the moisturizer on your face, because your back probably wouldn't get dry. Both of these items can be found for around $3-$4 each at CVS or Wal Mart.

proactive does truly work .. but some of my friends have used it and for all of them , it made their acne worse , but then it cleared up pretty fast. so i dont know if thats for everyone? but they said it works really good. but if your still having doubts, try using neutrogena(spelling?) product .. they work for me ..

OK well I know you have mixed feelings about proACTIVE, but you won't have those mixed feelings once you try it. It works anywhere you have acne (face, back, chest etc.) so it should take care of those problems for you. If not, try the old toothpaste trick. Put a little mount of toothpaste on each zit and leave it on for a little while, then wash it off with a face cleanser. Or you could always try that Nutrogena face wash, I hear it works pretty well & since I am a fan of Nutrogena, I buy lots of their products and I've almost never been let down. But stay AWAY from Clearasil, it's terrible! Also there's a technique you can use (but only for your face) you take two bowls out, fill one with hot water (steamy hot water) and then the other filled with ice. Keep your face level with the hot water first fot about ten minutes, then the other bowl for about ten minutes.
Good luck!

proactiv truly does work. i know you have mixed feelings, but why not try? also if you go visit a dermatologist/doctor they can prescribe pills you can take for your acne. i know those work well.
