i got my bellybutton pierced at queen of hearts.
they told me to clean it with non scented dial liquid soap..(the orange kind)
i thought they were crazy telling me to put soap on it and twist it through but all my friends tried other things and it got infected..mine didnt get infected at all and it healed very very fast..it sounds weird but i promise...its def. effective
if you choose to do this make sure you rinse it out well or else it will get infected..

put some saline solution on a q-tip and clean both sides of the hole, even move ring around and get a bunch of saline solution all up in there. What i also did was soak my belly button in saltwater for 20 minutes a day, i've had mine for 4 years now and its never been infected, just make sure to clean it with the saline at least twice a day. hope i helped. -Angel

a good way to do it is to lay down on your bed or something like that, and completely saturate a Q-tip with the saline solution, then move the ring or barbell, whichever you have, around, and clean around both sides all the way around. you can go around the ends in circles a few times.using a Q-tip works best because the end is small enough to move around both ends of your piercing easily. cotton balls work also, but with a cotton ball, you might not get down into the holes. you can also pour the saline directly around the holes and let it sit for a while to get it really clean. good luck!

In my opinion, Hydrogen Peroxide works pretty good with preventing infections. It stings a little bit on a open cut or something, but it will keep the hole really clean, with a low risk of infections. also, you should probably soak the ring in the stuff before putting it in, that'll also help with keeping it clean. You can get it at pretty much every drug store, like CVS or Rite Aid, and I know we got ours at Target.

hey, take a little cotton ball. pour some on it and just gently clean around the piercing.
